DeLonghi Dedica EC 685 is not the most basic espresso maker.
Features that makes it stand-out from the rest:
- 3 temperature adjustments (88-92-96°C allegedly)
- Programmable shots
- Very fast heating
I'm a newbie in terms of milk beverages, but it allowed me to learn basic latte art and make a great cappuccino at home.
And it can make a real espresso, but here's the catch. For this you need to upgrade the portafilter and the basket. In my case it was $33.
With the stock portafilter (which I don't show in the video) it makes a basic coffee. And can be used with ground coffee. But you need to rinse it, otherwise it's impossible to clean. And I prefer to just wiping the basket with the towel after knocking off the coffee puck.
And no, you will not be able to brew an espresso with this pressurized basket. But for the start, at least you'll get a coffee
