Everything he said is absolutely true. I have 2 of these and they're so loud. Then there's the hose, I bought insulation to wrap around it myself. I still use them due to my HVAC being old but I won't buy another one of these.
My unit is operating Great. I have not had any problems with this unit. I have used it in my personal training studio for 3 summers now. My studio is 600 sq feet. I’ve been pleased with my air conditioner. Honestly
back when i lived in a basement with windows that opened like 4 inches i used these style machines. i used to wrap the hoses with unused blankets and it helped so much.. i was so happy when i didnt need them anymore. had two a haier and a solus air. the solus air was at least nearly silent and had auto swing on the fan
That’s the only way to use these (with blankets). Did a review a long time ago, people razzed me for doing that but you’re right it works and helps so much!! The silent auto swing fans are so crucial too, the old Danby I had to sell had the same thing. The new Danby…nope. Going backwards. It’s so bad I don’t even want to review it ha ha. @@TheLastHonestInfluencer its amazing to me as well how they still have not put filters in for the condenser side of the system. the only machine i ever have seen that was even easy to get to it was that haier i had, but the thing was so loud and rattly i actually threw it away. i didnt want to pawn that kind of trash off onto anyone even for free. the solus i did sell. i had to take that thing apart 3 times a season to clean the coils because it would clog. and i didnt even have pets at the time!
This is a great review 😆 I came here looking for a reason why it's putting out an awful smell. I cleaned the filter. Wasn't anything in it. Can confirm it is loud as hell.
@@jessicawallowing3115 thank you 😊 Is it the fishy smell or the rotten egg smell? Fishy people say it’s mold in the condensate tank, rotten egg people say it’s a refrigerant leak. Sorry I can’t be of more help with that
I purchased the Danby 3 in 1 14000 BTU you reviewed last year. I got it for 347$ CAD because of a pricing error. Heat has not yet hit my region but I'm sure I won't regret it
Incredible deal you got. What an amazing score. I miss that version so bad. The new Danby 3 in 1 I just got is not even close to as good as the one you have there, it’s noisier and the hose gives off all kinds of crazy heat. And I paid $50 more than you ha ha! Hold onto that one, not sure if they make them anymore. Danby has gone backwards this year with the new models 🤷🏻♂️
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer If you live in Canada, I got mine at a store called Princess Auto. Like I said it was a pricing error (price was lower then it was supposed to be on sale), but the store might have one even if not on sale
Classic Costco, they get them in and then they sell out…at least at all the costcos in Calgary. Right now with the heat wave they are sold out again. They’ve been getting the best black model in I’m sure they’ll get more
i bought the Pinguino EM82 on sale (€399) and yes is damn loud but for me is not an issue since i use it mostly when i am at PC with headphones on, and is doing a great job by cooling my room. So far i enjoy the purchase (still i think they are a little bit overpriced)
First air condition was apprently invented back in 1902....wich means, they shoud be able to do much better than that in 2024...but its never )or rarely) the case, and for like soooo many other craps nowadays. That is an accurate statement (unfortunately). Best one I have used is this model of Danby: DPA120B9IBDB-RF BUT any of the PAC’s with a dual exhaust are probably very similar. I’m on a mission to find the best one, just brought home a LGLP1419IVSM today. Not impressed, the thing is so loud and gives off unbelievable amounts of heat. its supposed to be the best model LG makes (most powerful and expensive) but the Danby is so much better (have that one too). This $800 LG isn’t even as good as that Danby model I quoted above. That’s not to say the Danby is perfect tho, lots and lots of comments from people who had problems with it. Hope that helps.
LOL, the most dramatic portable AC review ever. About the insulated hose: I've checked dozens of brands and I've never seen one which had insulated hose out of the box. I guess it do exists but very far from common. You can buy the insulation separately for cents and put it on the hose.
@@balazssebestyen2341 you sure can, but it looks like crap and it’s harder to do properly then you’re making it sound. They should all come like that it’s not hard to manufacture. Anyone who has ever used a dual insulated exhaust hose knows how much better they are and would never go back to non insulated. Dual insulated from the factory ARE THE SAME PRICE.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer I believe you, but dual-insulated ACs are practically nonexistent in Europe. I can't even find them on Google, let alone on Amazon or at Mediamarkt. So, I could rule out about 98% of portable ACs based on this reasoning.
Your big mistake is thinking ANY portable air conditioner is a good value. They all suck compared to other types of A/C units, including window air conditioners. Higher cost per cooling BTU. Poor energy efficiency. Especially these cheap single hose units. Insulated or uninsulated doesn't matter. The fact that there's only one hose dumping hot air outside means it has to suck hot outside air into your place to replace that air it's pumping outside. Nature abhors a vacuum. That's not a problem with window A/Cs, which are recirculating indoor air, not pushing it outside.
Amen. Been preaching that too, if I didn’t say that exactly in this video that’s my bad but I thought I did. If I didn’t I should have. In the next week, I’ll be posting a video of the perfect portable air conditioner, which is a mini split model that has the condenser evaporator outside and the fan and coils inside which would be even better than a window air conditioner. Just the little gas tube has to come through the window. Same price as these portable air conditioner units, quieter than a window and definitely more secure.
Bummer!! The good news is people report they get rid of it with vinegar (the strong stuff). I’m sorry but I don’t, and I don’t know of any vids showing it this is all second hand info from previous comments.
