Flight #: DL171 Route: MSP to ICN Runway used for takeoff: 4 Aircraft type: Airbus A350-941 Registration #: N504DN Date of filming: 06-10-23 Location: Cargo Road(Aircraft Viewing Area) Camera: Sony AX53 Tripod: Me on a stepladder
Can I ask how you know it was a TOGA takeoff? It does absolutely happen, but the majority of takeoffs will be flexed in the Airbus. I’m only curious 😊😅
During the spool up, a push to FLEX is heard followed by the second one to TO/GA. One could argue that it was a push to CL(climb) thrust then up to FLEX but given the weather situation and extra high loads, the latter makes more sense. The pitch of the whine (compressor/hot section) is indicative of TO/GA too. FLEX has a lower pitch while TO/GA is noticeably higher.
@@twincitiesaviator You might be right, absolutely. But keep in mind with the sound, that the FLX of the a350 varies between a maximum of +75C to minimum +30C, from there TOGA. So a +31C FLX takeoff is pretty close to max thrust. But cool cool, just curious, nice video mate! (:
@@twincitiesaviatorI think we always hear two different thrusts because the planes increase the power to 55% to see if the engines are working well then increase to flex or toga
When I see that beautiful, graceful aircraft take off, it’s hard to imagine in April I spent 11 hours in one. A330-900 on the return. Why is flying so exciting and enjoyable!
"to/ga" is set at 96% on the A350 fleet; it is impossible to exceed that due to thrust restrictions to prolong engine life. I think all airline does this
That's not true n1 and n2 speeds are variable.. the upper limit is 107,2 % before the fadec limits the engines.. it depends on the outside temperature.. on a cold day today thrust can be achieved with only 87% on a really hot day it can reach over 100%

Ooo, Rwy 4 - great show for Highland Park! Maybe dumb question, was everything using Rwy 4 or just heavies? I wasn't paying close attention but saw an A330 take off of 4 yesterday
@@twincitiesaviator Ah, Interesting, I had only noticed used before when winds were really strong or storms nearby. Cool to know they use it selectively like that.
This is one of the seldom cases. The MSP ICN flight frequently departs near the MTOW. 4/22 is an operational necessity for it quite often. Those engines push it quite a bit.
