Delta Airbus A330 CAN'T DUMP FUEL. OVERWEIGHT LANDING. REAL ATC

A Delta Air Lines Airbus A330-300 registration N813NW,
performing flight DAL258 from Boston Logan International Airport (KBOS)
to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (EHAM).
Being about 80 miles north-east of Boston at 20000 feet,
reported uncontrolled passenger and requested return to Boston Logan Airport.
When they were ready for approach the crew reported their intentions
to do an overweight landing and requested the fire trucks to meet them after landing.

Excellent handling of unusual situation from Boston center, tracon and tower controllers. These group of talented and compassionate individuals should hold their head up high for their daily Sterling efforts. As a former NY ATC I worked with ZBW daily. I ALWAYS found them to be a professional, courteous, caring and "a cut above". Deep respect goes out to these people i never met, but I miss as much as I do my fellow N90 crew. May the prevailing winds be always at your back. Peace.

Just curious, what happens with the other pax in a case like this (or with a technical). Just deplane into the terminal, or all go through tsa? orhave to clear immigration again?

normally everyone will be held on the aircraft, the person of interest is de planed with law enforcement, plane is refueled and continue on. It does really depend on circumstances though as on long haul it may mess around crew times an in that case it is handed like if an aircraft is diverted due to mechanical issues with passengers being put up in airport hotels

Many airliners, both from Boeing and Airbus, do not have fuel dumping systems. The choice the pilots then have is to doodle around to burn fuel or do an overweight landing, and that choice is based on their assessment of the situation.

@@davecrupel2817 I would guess it's more about aircraft manufacturers trying to shave off every bit of weight they can and eliminating fuel dumping systems. For aircraft that have the ability and the emergent need to dump fuel, there are protocols for that and the crybabies at the EPA don't get a say when an inflight emergency happens.

A flight like this causes so many problems and issues that it is staggering! I hope the person was never allowed on a flight again. Possible missed connections, putting the flight crew at risk of controlling the aircraft just to name a few. I'm glad issues like this are being taken more seriously in today's world of things going off the rails with peoples conduct.

Wait! They took off far heavier than they would be on landing. JFK is rough as hell for example & beats the hell out of airplanes heavy with full fuel & pax. Just do a smooth landing for craps sake.

I suspect their 242t A333s (and their A339s) have fuel dumping. But this is a 230t or 233t A333.)

4:07 that center controller should know that the LDA on 22L is only 8800' and not over 10,000' like he told the pilot

The ATC controller did not mention what the landing distances available were. He mentioned that both runways were over 10,000 ft long which is a true statement.

Yeh theres a few channels like this, all leaches stealing from the 1 that came before. The problem is I don't know which 1 is the original source or if it's just that they are all equally guilty of taking from eachother rather than all taking from 1 original.

@@JohnSmith-zi9or when the clip length is literally the exact same, and the video is literally the exact same time, with the exact same edits for pilot transmission… its a dead giveaway. Believe what ever you want to though 🤷🏼‍♂️
