Adding a cartridge filter to my Porter Cable PC400AP dust collector. This unit is identical to the Delta 400AP 1HP 650 CFM unit. In this video I upgrade the 5 micron bag filter to a 2 micron Delta cartridge filter model #50-740 to help keep the air clean in my workshop, and hopefully make the dust collector more efficient.
The filter was tested with a 4" to 2.5" reducer to fit my anemometer thus the CFM seen in the video are lower than would be expected for a 4" opening. A 4" diameter hose has 2.56x the cross sectional area
of a comparable 2.5" hose, thus the reducer will have a considerable impact on air flow. After testing a 5% increase in air flow was found. I'm not sure if the increase air flow will persist as the unit gets used.
