Pete is a great example of a good officer always considering his men's welfare and leading by example what a great guy there are far too many officers only concerned with what affects them but in my experience the best officers are usually the ones who worked up through the ranks in the British army they get massive respect while the ones who went to sandhurst are usually not respected as much they seem to look down on everyone beneath them there are some good ones but far and few between I've had some bad experiences with officers from sandhurst and I am not the type of guy who takes crap from anyone no matter the rank if I think they are wrong I would tell them that's probably something to do with the amount of time I spent in the army jail 😂😂😂😂 m.c.t.c Colchester loved it anyway great interview guys thanks for sharing 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💪🇺🇸👊

I mean no offense by this but when I first saw Blaber... i was blown away that this was the guy who I first read My Mission, my men and me... He was with Tillman and Chapman. This guy was one of the best of the best in Delta force yet looked like just an average guy. Another lesson by Blaber. Never judge a book by its cover and also never make up an image of something just based on whats written.

I've met two British Special Forces guys, and they were the most normal looking guys you could meet. One was a Falklands Para and Cambodia veteran (Maggie Thatcher sent military advisors to Pol Pot regime), and the other showed me his SBS pics of training and deployment in Iraq/Afghanistan etc

@@MongooseTacticoolI've heard ex sas and sbs guys talking about their first experience of getting to their squadrons, they were expecting god like men all muscles and beard but when they got to the team room it was filled with men you would never expect. There was guys with no front teeth some were overweight and some looked like they could be your grandad that's what makes s.f though. Being able to blend in and look harmless when in reality they are death in disguise 😂

Pete is the type of guy who you would be proud to serve under and do anything for he shows respect to everyone no matter what rank you are and seems like the type of leader everyone needs if only there were more guys like him we wouldn't lose as many troops to stupid tactical decisions

1/38th “Rock of the Marne” was my basic unit at Sand Hill with DS Spizzo circa 1990-91 right after Gulf War. What year was Col Blaber a Lt there if anyone knows? “Toxic-Tyranical” leadership is why I left active-duty after my second enlistment even though I had a stellar career up to that point. Col Blaber hit it right on the head!!! I always remembered that in my civilian law enforcement career whenever I was in-charge of people!

born and raised my whole life in Oak Park IL myself, was very surprised to hear that this man grew up here as well, small but lovely town, have always said it weirdly has produced some extraordinary individuals, people like betty white, the founder of mcdonalds, founder of sears, creator of the twinkie, iman shumpert, frank lloyd wright, to just name a few. something in the water in Oak Park for sure haha, I'm in college now, so well see maybe in a few years i'll be another name on that list.

Bosnia seems like a million years ago, I was once down in the Russain Zone, just a Brit and I, and we had lunch with a Serb Commander and his daughter, wonder if it was the same one. All the troops there were still in the banned black and purple cammo. Hearing so much about command failures is disappointingly disgusting. Saw it in Iraq and when I was leaving Afghanistan my son was coming in as a Squad Ldr... I had been a Staff Dweeb at USFOR-A and ISAF and all I could think was I will go nuts if anything happens to my son. This was 2011/2 the Petreaus and Allen days and my view from staff down was the whole thing was a sick joke and an utter unsolvable quagmire the way it was designed and operating. I was in C/3/9 under Col Blaber after they returned from Panama- he signed my papers for Ranger School and OCS... heh, so very long ago.

Bosnia was quite some time ago indeed. Thank you for everything you did while you wore combat boots and the uniform of the U.S. Army. I think I made a poor choice when I refused to speak with the recruiters during my final year of H.S. I have no question, I would have made a fine soldier. I have "it" in me, always have. But I thought I would be a RockStar. That never really happened. We can`t go back, as you, sir, well know. Thank you again!

I read his book "The Men, the Mission and Me" and it made me a HUGE Blaber fan. Blaber and Pat Mac are living legends. Pat is the dude you want at your back while surrounded by 10 assholes with pipes and chains, Pete is the guy you want when you want to get 3 feet up close and personal with some shitbag in total silence with backup if needed.

I think the issue was that when you would sit back, the mic would rise up so it was right under your breathing apparatus. Each nasal exhale was overly amplified in all of its vigorous glory. As a multimedia professional, I might recommend trying to clip the mic on your jacket/hoodie lapel so it’s off to the side. When D does the sound check next time, make sure you spend some time in the leaned back posture you prefer. Hopefully that mic placement prevents us from hearing your heavy breathing - let’s reserve that for your other show on OnlyFans.

Gardez/Feb-2003: Blaber and the Delta term(s) used the same compound as our group did during Op Anaconda (March 2002). April of 2003, we traveled thru Khost and by the map records of the Tillman's Ranger group during the "friendly fire" incident which killed Tillman. The terrain is just so demanding, so challenging and the decision during Tillman's time to separate the Ranger's for a reason few understand was a tragic mistake. Couple with the "coverup" of how Tillman died is a testament to Blaber's assertion of toxic leadership. Blabler was in Bosina (near Brcko) whereas a number of indicted war crminals (unknown to the public) were killed during an arrest mission. The thread of the "how" came from one of our translators who spoke local language overheard talk in the coffee bars. That info went to a local Bosina Police office in G. Rahic..and worked it way up..we all thought it was Bosinans, but it was Delta. Blaber mentions this threat in his book. At Balad in 2005. RH/05-11A

He speaks of common sense leadership. Taking care of people and giving the "Why" because of an action. Sad to see this is not common and I bet its a main reason he didnt make O-6. Some primadonna leaders didnt like that kind of thinking. Ive met some good leaders and NCOs and its unfoirtante they were at the same level as shit bag leaders. Why cant we weed them out? During a conversation with another officer, it came up that unfortunantly some people are Toxic, but effective. My point of view is the Soldiers were effective despite the toxic leader. Too many achieve more than they are worth in my opinion.

I have a copy of Mission, Men, and Me book, can't remember the details now but it mostly focuses on lessons learned. Also, it stated that the CIA SAD/SOG are more flexible than Delta. They (CIA) do their own planning and execute those plans without having to go through layers upon layers of approval.

At the end of the video with viewer Q and A a question about the British SAS rescuing a CIA officer(it was a very poorly worded question) in the early 2000’s I’m pretty sure the viewer is referring to the uprising at the Qala-I-Jangi fortress in Nov 2021 in Afghanistan where CIA officer Mike Spann was unfortunately killed. British SBS had responded along with US SF to help quell the uprising at the Fortress.

Blaber `s book ( and it has been 20 -maybe 15 years since reading it and I cannot remember the title, "Boots on the Ground?", ?? but it was about his selection in "The Bob" and PIFWIC grabs in the mountains of Serbia. His team invented "Spike Strips" that all LEO`s now use to throw across the road to K.O. the tires in a high speed chase. They were in a cabin in bumfuck Serbia and were trying to figure out how to snatch this Serbian Gen. who was A PIFWIC (Persons Indicted For War Crimes) and one guy suggested to make out a cardboard cow and stand it in the only road the PIFWIC could use to evade them, and place the cow in the middle of the road! He used to do it in H.S. and it always stopped people from sheer nuttyness, but it was a no go. Another guy wanted the Army to ship them a Gorilla outfit from Hollywood!! Another no-go. Then one of them said "All of those blown out tires by the house should have the tread removed and we can drill 2 inch sheetrock screws from this cabin and drill em in the treads to blow the tires, then hit em like a frieght train, before they can even grab a trigger".....it worked. The main theme of the book is "do not trust any intel that is not in real time or boots on the ground." "Don`t get treed by a chihuahua." the way he did(Pete) in "The Bob" during selection to Delta. He climbed a tree cuz a squirrel spooked him, and he was thinking "Bear"!!!! Anyhoo, I believe it is Blabers first book, and it is chock full of good stuff. I am sorry, I just remembered the name of Blaber`s book "The Men, The Mission, and Me". LOL, I have only watched about 15 mins. of this podcast and you all will probably know more than me in a little bit!

Laughter is one of the best bits about the army wether it's n.c.os making fun of us or us just making fun of each we always had a laugh even in the worst conditions we would have a laugh I remember during training we had fijians in our troop and on exercise they had made the mistake of thinking hexi fuel blocks were Kendall mint cake they do look similar but you can easily tell the difference they were up all night crapping in their gonk bags I feel sorry for the guys anywhere near that shell scrape 😂 the n.c.os ended up naming them trumpet trousers
