Army Sgt. Maj. Thomas Payne received the Medal of Honor on Friday for his heroism in a daring special operations raid in northern Iraq that liberated 75 Iraqi civilians.
What did he do so differently from the other 20 team members there? Seems kind of underwhelming based off previous winners and or the fact he took zero damage. I don’t know just seems off and forced. Much love and respect to him tho.
Caleb Christiansen yup. Basically old skandinavian naming scheme. The „sen“ at the end translates to son. Christiansen therefore means son of Christian, must be the name of one of your ancestors. Same for Mr. Jørgensen
BigChungus im swedish, danes were most definetely vikings. there is even an event where vikings from sweden and denmark worked together to kill a norwegian viking king
TP was one of those quiet professionals who crushed everything in rasp. We did a joint readiness exercise with the ninjas and this is when he was marked out as a performer who got tasks done, made the effort to keep his young rangers tight and squared away with his leadership and mentoring and made sure any success or rewards was put down to Thom AND his men. Then he went down to north Carolina, crushed selection and made it. Next time I see him he's on NBC and I'm on a bar stool. And love and respect to Joshua wheeler RIP. Before my time but an absolute legend to a generation of rangers. Anyway sergeant major, congratulations you bad motherfucker. RLTW
N Allen you misunderstood me. My comment was for the commie who wrote the main comment. Been serving my entire adult life and will be voting Trump 2020. 🇺🇸
Phantom Phreak Eh, I’d much rather Obama had awarded me had I earned it when I served but... It’s the top award you can get in the military, and the honor of even being awarded one is astonishing. I get what you’re saying, as I despise Trump myself. But, ALL lives matter... Not any one specific race man. 😊✌️🇺🇸✊
Well IDK, but that draft dodger is the reason my cousin is back home and not fighting some useless war. I don't like Trump, but a man like Biden who supported segregation, called black people animals, not to mention his 5 decades in power and what has he ever done for black people?? He can never get my vote. Trump 2020
I tried out for delta and discovered that I was not anywhere as tough as I thought I was. ultimate respect for this NCO and all my brothers and sisters in arms.
@Trevor Fluck guess you didn't know that Detachment D was an army organization. I was a gunbunny, field artillery/KING OF BATTLE. But wanted more. Finished 3rd of 67 in SEER instructor course under Col Rowe who was a POW for over 5 years in Vietnam and who laid down his life for our country when we were in the Philippines. I just wanted to honor our nation's heroes past and present. Every man or woman who volunteers to serve this country in a military, police or first responder roll is a hero in my opinion. The rest are Oxygen Thieves.
Getting one of those medals is some damn risky work. Around 3500 of them have been awarded and more than 600 were to soldiers who lost their lives in the action. Well done Army Sgt. Maj. Thomas Payne!
Thank you sir for your service!we have the best military on earth!! The best and humblest guys around! I met one of their great warriors last Christmas an awesome your Sergeant from FortBragg! The most inspiring event to ever happen in my lifetime! We love honor and respect our awesome soldiers in Marion Nc 🇱🇷! We pray for them daily for God's protection and guidance!!!!
... It's not the Congressional medal of honor… It is the Medal of Honor... Thank God Congress has nothing to do with this medal... Congratulations Sergeant Thomas Payne, Well Done...God bless America...🇺🇸 ( wake up Mr. President and get it right ❗️)
Shed a tear when the POTUS Dodged the Draft 5 times with Bone Spurs ! OMG ! SGT Major Payne should have bitch slapped the POTUS for his comments on being " Losers " & " Suckers " ! Too bad he had his chance.
@@juggernaut316 Not FAKE it was confirmed by multiple Military sources ! Open your eyes & look what is happening around you ! Reading is a great way to expand your knowledge ! Refusing to see the TRUTH & FACTS is a Republican trait that runs very deep !
He’s only the 3rd Delta Operator to ever win the Medal in the unit’s history. The other 2 died in the act of theirs in Somalia protecting the 2nd downed Black Hawk Crew from being overrun. MSG Gary Gordon and SFC Randy Shughart.

The senior enlisted are the backbone of the military.... god bless this brave man... absolute badass! He isn’t a sucker or a loser. Though, the man that put the medal around his neck believes his fallen predecessors were just that.... CIC Bone Spurs
Foreigner here... May I ask our American friends what that flag to the left is? The one with a blue field with several stars in the center with yellow tassels on its three sides?
Not sure. I'm way down in the comments and if I scroll up to look I'll never find this again. It's probably a flag from the branch of the military he serves in. They each have their own flag.
@LeoDahVee Left is “Flag of the United States”. Center is “Flag of President of the United States”. Right is the “Flag of the United States Army”. The border fringing and the ropes with tassels indicate these are ceremonial flags. On the “Flag of the United States Army” in place of the ropes with tassels there are 191 campaign streamers.
@@Thedreamer20015 I believe one of his teammates went down. MSG Josh Wheeler, another warrior of the highest order. From hearing Delta guys speak, they love their job.

@@smartdevilevil It don't matter what side of war you are on, there's no need to disrespect the people who fight on the frontlines for what they believe in. Whether it's Taliban, or US troops, they are all warriors who put their own lives at risk to fight for what they think is right, even if the motives behind their actions aren't the best, they have the guts to put their lives down for it. Which is more than you or I could probably do in our lifetime. I really hope your beautiful country recovers from all this war, Iraq and Afghanistan are some of the most beautiful places on the planet. I wish you the best brother
What a hero!!! This is why we stand for the flag and say the pledge of allegiance. For heroes like this who are willing to give their all. God bless you!!
@@PandaFishBat If you have no respect to those who protect you then you dont deserve it. You wouldn't last a minute without protection considering your attitude.
No Animosity Protect me from what non existent threat LOL? High oil prices? Only suckers join the army to waste their 20s in a desert, then get blown up by a goatherder, or they off themselves after they come home. Commander in chief said so himself
He’s been in for about 16-18 and hes in sfod-d once you get in cag u make rank every cycle cause ur by far above your peers also he’s in been in sof for his entire career
Trump said one rank but the spokeswoman said SFC. He definitely looks more of the age of SFC if you ask me. But then again his rank insignia says otherwise! Lol
Anthony Gonzalez they addressed his rank as an E7 at the time of his actions when he earned the medal in 2015. Fast forward 2020, he is now a SGM and a recipient.
@@RyanRyan-tk6wx Yep I've seen his pipeline schools and he and another soldier won the best Ranger competition before he went CAG. Plus he grew up in my state about 80 miles north of me so of course I support him and also the Marine that was awarded the MOH, he's about 70 miles from me. South Carolina turns out some awesome military personnel.
@@junepark1256 no it's not. I was in the army. The official name is Medal of Honor. Congressional medal of honor is what a lot of people call it, but that's not the official name. Look it up.
@@devonmartinski6596 yeah that's real young to me for a SGM. When I was in the army, all of the sergeants major were old crusty dudes. But this guy is special forces and they get promoted fast, if they don't get hurt or killed first.
@John Brown “Blue was never really an army color.” Perhaps you should read this: Regulations published in 1779 established the Army uniform as blue with colored facings based on region: white for New England; red for the Mid-Atlantic; and blue for the South. Musicians wore uniform coats in reverse colors. In 1782, blue coats faced with red became standard for everyone except generals and staff officers.
