This is one of many examples of how the helicopter can be used to transport parts of a wind turbine quickly and efficiently. In this case we are talking about delta modules, so-called rectifiers, which convert the alternating current generated by the wind turbine into low-loss and easily transportable direct current. If a module is defective, the wind turbine can no longer produce electricity - so time efficiency is of high importance since it needs to be replaced as quickly as possible.
After the modules were delivered by truck to the airport in Emden, we loaded them directly into the helicopter. Despite a size of approximately 100cm x 35cm x 65cm plus outer packaging and a weight of 180kg each, three of the modules could easily be loaded into the cabin of the helicopter, transported, and then hoisted onto the customer's ship with the winch.
