Delta saying “GOODBYE” to Boeing and turning to Airbus (LIVE)
Delta Airlines used to be one of the major operators of Boeing aircraft from the early stage of the airline starting in 19 70 when Delta received its first Boeing jetliner, the 7 4 7. However, as time goes by, Delta has been defined as an Airbus-heavy airline for several recent years and seems to start losing interest in Boeing. Do you know what it means? It means Delta is saying goodbye to Boeing and turning to Airbus. Here’s why:
First of all, Why is Delta saying goodbye to Boeing? The reasons on Boeing’s side are quite understandable since their aircraft have been facing multiple structural issues recently that led to a considerable number of not only troubles but also fatalities. The 7 3 7 max series is probably the most notable case among multiple scandals that Boeing has caught up in since it caused 2 crashes and a total of 346 deaths within just 5 months. On January 5 this year, another incident happened on the 7 3 7 max 9 in which a door panel flew off mid-flight and the reason was determined by a US safety board to be due to 4 missing key bolts. Not only the 7 3 7 Max series but also other Boeing models were caught up in troubles constantly due to structural issues.

For example, the 7 8 7 Dreamliner, the latest model equipped with state-of-the-art technology of the company, was grounded not once but twice. The first time was in 20 13 when a Boeing 7 8 7 belonging to Ethiopia Airlines experienced a fire incident while on the ground at London's Heathrow Airport, highlighting the aircraft's significant issues with its lithium-ion batteries. Following incidents in January where one battery overheated and another caught fire, the entire fleet was subsequently grounded for over three months. The second time was in August 2020, when Boeing halted the operation of eight aircrafts due to concerns regarding manufacturing quality issues in the fuselage that posed a significant threat to flight safety. Despite the aircraft being previously delivered, the airlines affected were required to withdraw them from service. That’s not all, in February, Boeing had to once again halt deliveries of the airplane due to an analysis error reported by one of its suppliers.
One of the iconic commercial aircraft of Boeing, the famous Triple Seven also once suffered from being grounded for engine failure.

Boeing recommended grounding all triple 7-model aircraft equipped with the Pratt & Whitney 4000-112 engines after an event on February 20, 20 21, where United Airlines Flight 328 experienced an engine failure and debris fell over Denver. The total number of affected aircraft was 128.
Within only the first quarter of this year, Boeing planes already showed 9 issues in its design. Following the door panel flying off of the 7 3 7 max 9, which was mentioned earlier, was a cracked window in the cockpit of a 7 3 7-800 operated by Japan’s All Nippon Airways on the 13 of the same month. The flight was forced to cancel its takeoff. 4 days later, a Boeing C-40 carrying Secretary of State Antony Blinken experienced an oxygen leak while it was in Zurich. The Boeing C-40 is a modified version of the 7 3 7 used for US military service. The plane was grounded, and Secretary Blinken had to switch to a different aircraft. On January 18, an Atlas Air Boeing 7 4 7 cargo plane experienced an engine malfunction shortly after takeoff from Miami International Airport, which resulted in flames being seen shooting out of the engine. Fortunately, the crew followed standard procedures and safely returned to the airport. On the 20th still in January, a 7 5 7 was found that its front nose wheel had fallen off and rolled away while taking off at Georgia’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. On February 6, a 7 3 7 max 8 conducted by United Airlines was reported to have experienced stuck rubber pedals while landing. United Airlines alone experienced 3 incidents with Boeing airplanes. The first one was on the 7 when a triple 7 200 had one of its wheels fall off mid-flight. The second one was on the 13 when a triple 7 300 was reported to have a fuel leak after taking off.
