Not only is this song an absolute banger, but the way he introduces the song by incorporating it into the sliding gameplay so that it drops as soon as the minigame is over is absolutely amazing
For real, the way he gets us into the groove of the song before it properly drops makes us appreciate the music just that much more. Sometimes background music can just fade into... well, the background, if we're too focused on gameplay in the moment, but this song sticks in my mind even more because of the rhythm segment that introduced it. Such good game design.
You can clearly see how Toby’s game design has improved. He really made you WANT to spare enemies in CH2 (being the main advertising point of undertale, it didn’t do a good job of enforcing it). And the MUSIC has improved so much since CH1
Undertale is so great because you can choose which path you go. Pacifist was never the main advertising. The game has always been in a position of giving the player the choice of how to progress. Deltarune so far doesn't have a bad or good ending, so wether you kill or spare your opponents doesn't matter, which in a way is taking away the players choice of how they want the story to end. The theme of Deltarune is to be that of the player not having a choice, which is a complete opposite of Undertale, where choice is ultimately the game's best point.
i'm not going to lie, when the beat dropped directly after the short rhythm-like minigame i actually, verbally, audibly said "oh fuck you toby" he cant keep getting away with these bangers
Why would you put something so relaxing in that infernal game (that would make it no so relaxing) But it does sound like something that would come out of GD
this track feels so nostalgic yet is a new breath of fresh air, ya know? Same feeling I had of Fields of Hopes and Dreams. Damn Toby, I always find solace in your games' music
It’s gotta be the build up, waiting all this time for chapter 2. Then, when we get it, we start with a fake out intro like there was no wait. But once you get to the next dark world, and Susie points out the new adventure, getting the intro and reveal of a whole new world is amazing. Sorry for rambling m8, I just love this song so much
Tbh, it's a pretty strong psychological thing. You eradicate all self-esteem, self-worth etc. so people think they have no choice but to do as you say(sort of like a dependancy factor) :)
Has it really almost already been a year with chapter 2 i still remember my playthrough of the game and feeling like ive been through a (amazing) feverdream that was filed with charm, banger Songs and so much more.
Field of Hopes and Dreams is better. Change my mind. Lol I mean, don't get me wrong, this song is a bop, but Field of Hopes and Dreams (FHD) is more of a bop. I like how this song begins: falling down a cliff side avoiding attacks while the track begins and then when the beat drops just *mwah*. But, FHD slaps harder. The use of the leitmotif of Don't Forget really brings together the whole vibe of "here is your adventure and what your adventure is leading up to." Also the sax like bruh. It brings excitement to an already amazing track and yeah. That's my Ted talk cya later
