Been using the looper extensively for about a year now, I'm glad I came back to this video and discovered you can manually set a loops end point after it's recorded. Thanks!
Haha, I came back to this video again to get a refresher on the looper also... A feature I'm not using enough, and this is the best video I've seen about it!
The Deluge has fantastic capabilities, but it really needs a screen so people won't have to keep referring to videos like this to understand or remember how to use it.
@@ToyKeeper Nah. In my opinion it's great as is and arguments for a screen are missing the point (besides, there are still a million video tutorials for gear that have screens---some videos are just helpful regardless).
@@BayMud It is indeed great. And the videos about it are good too. But like anything, it could be better. If the common complaints about the lack of a screen are any indication, that would be an obvious way to improve it. Even just giving some hints or reference info about the last-selected mode or function could save people a ton of time, by making features more discoverable. No more need to stop the creative flow to go watch a video.
Great video. Very informative and helps the new owners of deluge like me to start looping right away!!! WE want to see a full tutorials of deluge from the beginning..How to start make clips and continue to builging the song and arranger mode..How will be connect with external synths and sending cc messages to records the modulations..You know everything :)
Really great and insightful, my only complaint is that, with such bright ambient lighting, I find it quite difficult to clearly see the display on the Deluge. Thanks for the upload!
Here are a couple of my Deluge uploads, incase you're interested... In the second one, I have the light level in the room really low, so it's very clear what's happening on the Deluge's display... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bmAT7SDbjic.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VKSpK8xHRac.html
Thanks for a great and structured tutorial. Personally I need it a bit slower as there is so much information to take in. I am distracted with my lack of understanding of how to set the time boundaries for audio clips. Also I struggle to follow how to enter the different views, like audio view and waveform view. These are elementsry steps to grasp to be avle to go on for me. So I guess I will watch it again and again and again and... (loop)
Thanks for your feedback. It is a fine line to balance between capturing everyone’s attention and going slow enough for everyone to understand. By design, the video is meant to move quickly while being available to watch whenever you need it.
@@OllieLoops Others have said it in the chat, but it bares repeating - it was such a pleasant and concise video. Many other YT tutorial videos are drawn out and filled with silly intro videos and/ or other things that are really just a waste of time for the viewer. So if I were you I would take note of that. Anyway, I’ll have to check out some of your other vids too.
everybody who think octatrack is complicated to learn does not know deluge. Missing screen will force you to memorized hundred of different operating way... after month of hard working I end up quite frustrated, I you constantly forget how to do thinks with no screen.
Thanks, I am getting the basics after some intensive study...it is not so "easy" as everyone seems to think. I must be Delugically Challenged. There are a LOT of small buttons on this machine and they all have many unlabeled functions and have to be pressed in a specific order to make something happen.
Hey, thanks for your comment. I don't think you are alone. It's a very powerful device with many shortcuts and advanced features. And the trick to using it is to understand how the device expects to be used. It short, it has a decent learning curve. But, that's why we publish these videos, to help users gain a greater understanding of the unit. It is an amazing device and we want users to have fun with it. We hope our videos are helpful and you get to enjoy the device.
I don't see anyone here asked this question, so I'll go ahead. How do I cut the beginning of a clip? If I can't do I have to open the clip as a waveform and then cut the beginning? I am confused because I couldn't find my recorded clip in the Clips folder so I open it as a waveform, but I might have to try again today. Please share more tips like these, especially tips that show how to make a full track on the Deluge.
tremendously clear and concise video. great channel! though the tiresome number of steps involved in looping (apart from the general UI) is a turndown for me. pity as it could be so perfect...
Very cool. Even after all this time, it seems especially the looper functionality seems a bridge too far for many people. I finally have my deluge and I’m looking to set it up with midi pedals. Hopefully I can find out how to replace all your button presses by midi commands!
Hi Ollie, thanks a bunch for this tuto. I have an issue tho, when I overdub using your first method (regular overdubs), when I finish overdubbing on a new track the first one mutes... How do I change that? Thanks a lot!
"it will count down 4 bars, then record" ' I expect you meant: It will count down 4 BEATS, then record' I don't mean to knit pick, it's a great and very helpful video - miles above many others covering the same features.... Kudos
Considering the Deluge only has inputs for CV and MIDI is there anyway to loop multiple instruments without plugging in each instrument one after another for the loop?
@@OllieLoops so you could choose which instrument inputs into the deluge and start to build loops and tracks. Is there any midi hubs and audio mixers you would suggest for the deluge?
I would love to. One thing is that I have to buy all these devices, so I need to budget for that in the future. Thanks for your comment. We’ll see what we can do.
I don’t understand what you mean by when it’s purple it creates multiple clips? By multiple do you mean it just randomly selects a certain number it seems kind of arbitrary
@@OllieLoops I appreciate your response and I’ve watched this video like 10 times and I still can only record one take and then if I try to add overdubs it never works so I’m not really sure what I’m doing wrong
There is not a lot of info out there on this product, and I am interested in finding out more. Looping would be a large part of what I would use it for. Can you load some prerecorded loops as a preset, and then add live loops? How many loops can you realistically have going at the same time? I'm tempted to switch from my RC-505 Thanks
Thanks for your comment. Let me try to answer your questions as best as I can. 1. You can load samples into audio clips as well as record them in. 2. You can save a song with audio clips in it and then recall it as a preset and use the looper feature with it. 3. You can add looping in song view to an existing or new song file. 4. The number of loops depends on several variables: the length of the clips, whether they are time stretched, the number of effects, etc. There is no limit other than what the CPU can handle, which is quite a few. But also consider if you had fifty loops playing at once, it may sound a bit muddy due to the number of sounds playing at once. It's safe to say you can easily loop a lot of layers. I hope that helps.
@@OllieLoops Thanks, I very much apprentice the reply. And yes, I think that does answer my questions. I have to see if I can get my hands on one to try somehow.
Thanks for the video. I love the deluge but this looper system drives me up the wall. I followed your tutorial but the clips I made were acting like the same instrument - I could only play one at a time. Got annoyed and turned it off...
