Delves: WoW's Next Big Thing or Another Miss?

With World of Warcraft's next expansion, The War Within quickly approaching, I wanted to discuss World of Warcraft's next big feature, Delves. Going into its similarities to Guild Wars 2 (GW2) and The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). As well as inspiration, it's gained from other IPs like Warhammer!

for me: i like the design more where you do dungeons/raids/delves in a ascending order of difficulty like in Vanilla. i dont like the new system where you have all dungeons/raids/delves in the same difficulty but you got a hardmode and timetrail for them. i dont want to do "the same dungeon but harder" - i want a new dungeon. this does not mean i want 100 dungeons to be happy - just make a progression from one to the next.

I totally agree. But I get why they do this. In the past dungeons served only to get into raids and then sat there. That's so much work and content that players stop engaging with, which players complained about. So they've made it so that content stays relevant through the expac.

@@RPGeographic i get what you try to say but in my opinion its also a problem. i got kicked from Heroic raiding guilds because i refuse to do time trail m+ content. why? because its mandatory to get the same ilvl of gear early on.

@Nagria2112 yeah that sounds pretty dumb. I get that. You could always find another guild though I'm sure. Either way, that's why I'm glad Delves are soloable. Just do them at your own pace. To me gear is a nice added bonus but I dont care. I just want to keep climbing delve tiers and see how high I can get. And HOPEFULLY the content stays fun and engaging while I do it.

I think it might take to long for alot of people. I like the idea but it's seems they look alot at gw2, Flying, Delves, Puzzles etc.

Yeah, a lot is up on the air until we can really get our hands on it. And if they're gonna steal, steal from people that do a good job. I just personally wish GW2 got the credit they deserve.

different people enjoy different stuff - not everyone wants the best loot from m+20+50+affixes ^^ its a nice addition to provide solo players with reasonable means to get some decent gear like worldquests and events do, get over it? not everything is designed for the 1% ...

@nataschajordan6053 reply, I'm not sure who this comment is targeted at. But I agree with you lol My only concern is the content getting boring, I have no real interest in the gear upgrades. All I've done is state what the rewards are.

honestly, how can they fail? it's optional content that you CAN do IF you WANT. It's not a must. jesus I swear wow players have lost all their braincells

It'll "fail" by players not engaging in the content and blizzard shelving it instead of expanding on it.

Torghast 2.0 with a fresh coat of paint. It's going to get old after a while and people will be complaining to each other they have to do their delves for their weekly vault.

@@DBallyousee If you want the full vault, you are going to have to clear them. Otherwise you are just handicapping yourself with 3 missed chances at bis loot.
