6 years later and you just fixed my car. i’ve been chasing this rough idle for a year, but never knew i could take the iacv apart and clean it like that. i was on my 4th iacv. THANK YOU
You can pull the coil off the icv while still on the engine. Spray carb cleaner down the idle control port found in the Throttlebody. Then work the Valve stem back-and-forth with your fingers. Its like a 10 minute job at most. Ive fixed several Hondas like that.
Thank you for this video 🙏 it saved my bacon. My original issue on my ep2 1.6 VTEC was a faulty TPS that had been slowly deteriorating for some time, I just kept resetting the EML light until it finally gave up. I had a second hand throttle body including all sensors that I had cleaned and polished ready that I had stored for a year. But when I fitted it it idled around 1800rpm I checked the voltage on the TPS it was ok then I saw you video so took off the TB and checked and as you said it was seized solid. A Dremmel sorted slots in the anti tamper screws and sure enough the ICV was seized solid like you said, a good dose of carb cleaner and she was spinning like a Nascar, I refitted the TB and the car ran sweet as a nut better than ever. The TB cost me 40 dollars from eBay as a pose to around 1200 dollars new from Honda as they only supply a complete TB with sensors as it’s a non serviceable item. Once again thank you.
I was cleaning mine tiday and can see down the other end tiwards the coolant side was rusty too. Mine was stuck pretty hard. I had to soak it in brake cleaner to brake it loose.
Please help me VIPeeCee. I've got a 1999 Civic that is starting to drive me nuts... A few weeks ago it wouldn't start, so I had it towed to a shop and two days later it was ready... The guy from the shop told me that it had been the distributor (some parts were out of place...) and that no parts were necessary, just some re-adjusting... When I got a chance to open the hood, I found out that the throttle cable had been tightened somewhat... I noticed right away that the car was idling a little lower than usual, but since it drove fine, I didn't make a big a big fuss about it... Anyway, it would always start with a low rpm, but it would go back to normal shortly after, when I would coast or stop. However, a few days later, when I went for a drive and sped quite a bit on an open road, the car's idle has changed significantly... It idles at around 1500 rpm when coasting until I come to a full stop, after which the idle drops to 1200 rpm... On cold starts, it revs up to 2000 rpm, but gradually drops down to 1200 rpm, so I guess the IACV is ok... I've checked the spark plugs which have about 12000 kms on them and look almost new, I've tried readjusting the throttle cable, but to no avail, cleaned the throttle body, searched for any hose with damage, trying to find a vacuum leak with water, I also tried troubleshooting as in the shop manual, where you cover the lower port of the throttle body, where it states if you cover it and there is no change in the idle, then you have a vacuum leak and there is no change to the idle when I cover it... However, if I cover the air inlet tube to the air filter, it makes what seems to be a suction noise... When I have the air inlet removed and stop the engine, a strange noise comes from the throttle body, like two or three hisses... Does this mean I have a vacuum leak? Sorry for the long post... Thanks in advance.
@@williefalcone9783 dude I laughed so damn hard at this haha if anyone else comes across this video and has the same question, they make cleaner for the throttle body and IAC

He doesn't care to help with questions. He is only here for views, making you believe he is here to help since the video is made to help people. To many people are like this.
What is it you would like to know, ima old guy , my kids moved out and use to do this stuff for me, honestly I just figured out my log in so I can even reply. But surely you know my life better than me so I must be a dick haha .
@VIPeeCee to many just like you. I don't care to know. People hate the truth. If you didn't care you wouldn't of commented. Stop acting like you are here to help people.
What an asshole. It’s just a video to help. He’s not some 19 year old tik toker looking for views and waiting for comments. this video was great and needs no questions…
This guy is funny. “So spray your cleaner into this piece of shit. Then take a screw driver and scrape more of the crap out of this dumb ass part. Then twist the shaft and you will feel this idiotic thing spin better” 😂
