DeMar DeRozan was one of the most hyped recruits in the nation when he joined USC in 2008. He was a five-star prospect, ranked as the No. 3 shooting guard and the No. 5 overall player in the country by Rivals.com. He had a stellar high school career at Compton High School, where he averaged 29.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game as a senior, leading his team to the CIF Division IAA Southern Section title.
DeRozan finished his freshman season as one of the most decorated players in USC history. He was named to the All-Pac-10 Second Team, the NABC All-District 15 Second Team, the USBWA All-District IX Team, and the Sporting News All-Freshman Team4. He also set USC freshman records for field goals made (201), field goals attempted (384), and points scored (485).
