Section 107 HP Land Revenue Act, 1954 में निशानदेही लेने का प्रावधान है।
और HP Land Record Manual, Chapter 10 में निशानदेही की प्रक्रिया का वर्णन किया गया है।
निशानदेही तहसीलदार (Revenue Officer) दे सकता है।
निशानदेही के लिए आपको दरखास्त (application) के साथ दस्तावेज (documents) जैसे हाल की जमाबंदी (पर्चा) व अक्स मुसावी साथ मे सलंग्न करनी पड़ेगी।
जो भी बन्नेदार हैं, उनको पार्टी बनाना पड़ेगा।
तहसीलदार स्वंय भी निशानदेही दे सकता है या फील्ड कानूनगो को भी निशानदेही के निर्देश दे सकता है।
मगर जंहा प्राइवेट जमीन के साथ सरकारी जमीन लगती हो, वँहा तहसीलदार ही निशानदेही देने में सक्षम है।
निशानदेही की समय अवधि 3 माह है। 3 माह में निशानदेही न होने पर तहसीलदार निशानदेही की फ़ाइल अपने पास बुला सकता है और स्वंय निशानदेही कर सकता है।
3 माह में निशानदेही न होने पर अनुसानात्मक कार्यवाही भी की जा सकती है।
और गलत निशानदेही करने पर सजा का भी प्रावधान है, जो कि 1 साल तक हो सकती है।
