1:35 - It's interesting to see that he revised the joke after receiving the applause break on the punch line "oooo". He clearly was going to continue with something like "You should eat all of these", but he cut that part out.

A lot of comedians used to performing in clubs aren't used to applause breaks which are only a talk-show phenomenon so they don't know to talk over them if they have a tag (term for follow-up line/joke). Most newbies will pause and be taken aback, then the tag doesn't get used. Some will say "thank you". Louis CK talks a bit about that and how he didn't know how to handle it.

@@strats991 - Good observation. In this case, I think that the right choice was to skip the tag line, as Martin ultimately did. The audience had already gotten the joke - and, more importantly, had appreciated it. So the tag line would not have added anything, and would probably have been an anticlimax. Here we see a growing professional learning in real time.

I went to a taping once. They blatantly tell you before the show - do everything bigger than you would normally. Laughing, clapping, etc. Make it all bigger.
