@@shanzaaa8532Mary Kate and Ashley, unfortunately, didn’t choose to be actors. They were literal babies when they were forced to. Unlike them, Elizabeth was able to go to their sets and watch them work, and organically fall in love with acting and choosing to do it for herself.
@@floral_coral1victims often become abusers. It isnt pretty and its very unfortunate but once theyre adults, its their responsibility to change. Jojo should be held accountable for keeping the cycle going.
@@CrissKarma23 That is so deeply wrong and unfair. So the second a child turns 18 they're supposed to 'know better' after a lifetime of grooming? They're supposed to seamlessly develop knowledge and responsibilities, when their brains are still developing and they're still in the exact same living situation/lifestyle that they've always been in? That is not how cycles end. Cycles end when people who are fortunate enough to be of sound mind, help those who have been abused see the error of their ways. It will take years for Jojo to unlearn what she has learned, and it will never happen if people victim blame and beat her down instead of guiding her.
And support/protect a grown woman (Colleen) who had inappropriate convos/relationships with children. I feel like it’s very ironic to have Jojo speak on this topic.
You also have to realize how is she not supposed to do that when that’s all she knew was work people do what they understand and know she was never surrounded by people like how nia and them were all the time
As much as I don’t like JoJo Siwa, I hate the pressure she was under as a kid. She, and no one, should have gone through that. That’s why she turned out the way she did, and it is sad. Edit: I don’t condone a lot of her actions (again, I really don’t like her), but my comment isn’t about her actions now. It’s about the fact that she had so much pressure on her as a kid from her mom and Nickelodeon, and no CHILD should go through that period. “Abused becomes the abuser.”
I think until she grows up and unpacks the extent of how she was taken advantage of as a kid, she’s sadly going to continue the cycle. Hopefully this is the first step of her opening her eyes
@@spectre9340 oh I know - I just mean once the ones who are too young to really have their own platform yet start hitting the age to speak out in huge groups
I just feel so bad for child stars because at the end of the day I feel like it robs them of a normal childhood. I know there’s good but it’s also such a big question for someone at such a young age, these kids need more regulations
Same reason I will never support Usher. He knew was Diddy was capable of, even said he wouldn’t send his kids to Diddy’s flavor camp while he was on Howard Stern but had no problem sending someone else’s child (Justin Bieber) to the diddler. Gross
EXACTLY! She has never ONCE left the spotlight voluntarily yet. She hasn’t even BEGUN processing these emotions when she’s still choosing to actively live them! How she spoke about Abby Lee miller alone proved that to me. Not sure why Demi thought she was a good idea.
Everyone getting worked up over JoJo being in this yet I think her story is CRUCIAL to the story Demi is trying to tell here… some people are still in the midst of the manipulation and brain fog … like JoJo .
A lot of us are at Demi's, Allyson's age and we sort of grew up with them. And at some point, at least Demi was shown as this crazy girl, drugged up and all. Rarely anyone could think why was she using, why all those stars are going "crazy". They had the awesome life, fans, money, fame! Only now as an adults we start to see what was going on behind the scenes. And to think that we also wanted to be on Tv shows, on Disney or Nickolodean movies/ shows, we wanted all that because it looked so cool! You have to have strong parents, ones that won''t go crazy the moment they see the paycheck, ones that will advocate for you and will make sure that you are not in any danger while pursuing acting or singing.
Jojo!? She invalidated so many victims I'll listen to her but not many people will want to and they have evey right to feel that way. But it's just odd seeing her speak up while simultaneously silencing others
And simultaneously still worshipping her abuser (ALM) and hanging out with and defending predators (CB, JC, SD). While I understand that she obviously hasn’t come to terms with her abuse yet, she’s attacked victims and continued the cycle of abuse herself on kids.
would love to hear from more of them about this specifically! miley, selena, jonas brothers, ariana, bella thorne, zendaya, miranda cosgrove, there’s so many more! ik some of them have spoke on it a bit already. so important. allison stoner is super vocal about it & i look up to her for that fr
Miranda has come out and talked about it on other podcasts. Just her story of her stalker and how many times she could of been murdered is SO wild! She laughs a lot while sharing her experiences, but imo it's her coping mechanism. Becauae she's had a wild fame ride.
Demi did contacted Miley, Selena, and the Jonas brothers as she still talks to them, and they said they wasn’t ready to talk about it. They might not talk about it at all.
Mother as a lovatic Demi mom didn’t care for Demi at all she was put into child stardom because of her family especially her mom since her mom’s a failed country artist
i think about that after getting clips recently of desperate housewives specifically her playing juanita. i’d be so traumatized if i was forced to play the role of an obese child and have the adults in the show poke fun at me. like the amount of trauma and eternal damage that would cause me if that were me tbh.
Girl Demi paid their bills as a teenager even when she would threaten to ground her Demi would say “ well i pay the bills” lol.. her mom wants cash. I also recall an interview few years ago where Demi said her mom advised her to never leave home without makeup crazy to think about especially knowing Demi’s struggle with body image and low self esteem etc.. Her mom was also a victim of domestic abuse and have lost 3 fingers because of it so it’s clear that Demi’s childhood was horrible even outside of work.

These parents need to GET A GRIP. Your kid is NOT your meal ticket! Wtf! At this point, there is absolutely no excuse. We know this is horrific for kids.
I remember watching Demi’s documentary when I was younger and she mentioned how she had to go from concerts to a movie set, to her show, and then to recording.
When I was 12 years old, I would look up to Demi and wish so badly I could be a Disney Channel star. I would always hear from family members that I should be on TV or become a singer. It became so much of a dream of mine that I would search for talent scouts online on my own (which was so dangerous omg). But now as an adult, I would never in a million years want to be famous. I was in love with the idea of being a star as a little one, but I had no clue what it actually meant. If I could somehow go back and become a Disney kid, I absolutely would not do it.
This makes me think a lot about Mia who played Charlie in Good Luck Charlie. Seeing her living a pretty average teenage life despite having some fame makes me hope she’s doing well
Ryan’s dad has actually talked about how they manage his money and how certain channels he has 100% of the profits of those channels profits go to Ryan and they split the money on other channels. They actually sound very responsible.
I finished the doc last night, I have mixed feelings as someone who grew up with the Miley/Selena/Demi era of Disney. As far as I know, Demi isn't on good terms with Miley or Selena, so it felt weird to have their likeness included. If the documentary is about how these kids are exploited, isn't it further exploiting Miley and Selena to include their shows in the doc without their approval for Demi's benefit?
@@chloeelizabeth5556 Demi has a habit of exploiting people and things trying to act a savior. She’s done this many times and she’s never cared enough to really learn and change. I think this doc was really important for a lot of things but I take Demi’s intentions with a grain of salt.
Wasn’t Demi exposed for having a Selena hate account or liking posts hating on Selena? This was way back in the day, so I don’t remember the exact details. I feel for Demi and her struggles, but watching this video and hearing that multiple of the guest stars on it (Raven Symone and Alyson Stoner) say that Demi was difficult to work with, it seems Demi is not a nice person.
@@sharkyshark4594 I totally get that too. I’m not trying to invalidate her as a victim at all. I know Demi has gone through a lot. I’m just saying we shouldn’t excuse rude or hateful behavior either. Hopefully she’s grown from this, and it seems like she’s had.
As someone in the UK, I do not have access to Hulu to watch this but I am sure it is incredible. I loved camp rock 1 & 2 with Demi and Allyson. I'm glad Demi has created this! More light being brought to the evil and cruelness of the industry is very much needed!
i was going to bring up how it’s not only child stars that have been traumatized by this, it’s pretty much all over the world, the newer generations that are younger and have to make tik toks and videos to pay for things and live…i could go deeper with this but the list wouldn’t end of how fucked up social media is and how it’s affecting children, cause they start to wonder why do i not look like that or why does my body not look like hers…without knowing people sometimes edit themselves to look a certain way.
Jojo has gone on to victimize other little girls with her new dance show. If she's so self aware, she wouldn't continue the cycle. You can be a victim and an abuser (in her case an emotional abuser). The first doesn't excuse the second.
And we’re defending jojo because??? After everyone she has defended and stood by. Count her out. I also find it VERY hard to believe anything Demi says based on her past track record. She just needs to take a seat
So i was feeling the same. But I feel like maybe she was added to try to make a point of saying like look...some people ( Jojo ) are still in the mess... Meaning like she's not seen the other side yet. She's continuing the cycle of what she knows. Honestly I hope that her doing this helped her be able to open her eyes more, so hopefully she stops the cycle. Or at the very least starts to question it.
@nattybo5720, I hear ya. Glad some folks are approaching this with caution. For as many of these former child stars are trying to expose the industry for the meat factory it is, others are just exploiting their misfortunes just to line their pockets and more noteriety. Personally I don't like trauma grifts. Whenever Demi(Themi), Jojo Siwa, or Alexa Nikolas are involved in any way, you kinda have to slightly side eye the situation.
It was nice to see Allyson’s pov and what she and other cast mates went thru when Demi wasn’t okay, saying she and other cast mates had to walk on eggshells around her during the second movie and how they had to really watch what they said so that they didn’t get a reaction out of her , I wanted to know what it was like for other people working with Demi during her time and now I know
I wish they had Maddie Ziegler or any of the other girls from dance moms, Jojo abused every member of her pop group. Please inform yourselves about it, she0s a nasty person, so is her mother
Listen, I’m sorry, but Jojo is STILL in this position in all honestly. She doesn’t belong in a documentary like this, YET, considering she hasn’t had ANYTIME out of the spotlight to even BEGIN processing these types of emotions. Just look at how she STILL speaks on Abby Lee Miller, even while KNOWING first hand her trauma and abuse towards others caused.
Something doesn’t sit right with the parents of these child stars. If I saw my kid the way Demi’s mom saw her. Always tired and depressed, I would’ve pulled her out immediately. This is the reason why they spiral . The parents thought about money
Sucks that children were put in the spotlight because the parents are the fault for the situation, financial gain is disgusting, selfish, deplorable & greedy. JoJi Siwa is going crazy about Abby has upset the fans who admonished Abby Miller for her awful behaviour towards the kids. The industry should have policies and boundaries because the children should be protected from pedophiles in the entertainment industry and Hollywood.
I have a VERY difficult time believe NICKELODEON, practically Disney’s 2nd network, had a hard time hearing Jojo come out… don’t they celebrate that?😭🤣more “victim” points.
I think it’s hypocritical for JoJo Siwa to be in this documentary considering like you said she isn’t mad about being abused as a child star and she herself created an extremely toxic and unsafe environment for child stars… She did exactly what these producers have… abuse child stars.
i feel like this is important: for people saying they wish ppl like beiber and the olsen twins would talk about their experiences due to their big platforms etc: i'm tired rn so will do my best to articulate this, but have to say; people like justin and the olsen twins are obviously not ready emotionally to talk about the horrible things that happened to them. it would be so powerful and i really wish for that too but we also have to respect peoples boundaries, it's severly traumatising to come out and talk about abuse for the first time. we cannot expect people to talk when others want it. it's super complex and emotional and puts a lot of pressure on a survivor to come out like that. it's part of the horror of abuse that the responsibility of talking about it as a responsibility, is put on the victim. it shouldn't be put on the victim, cos it's like i said, it's traumatising in itself to talk about it for the first time.
I saw a channel that was doing BABY asmr. Literally maybe few weeks old and they have a camera in their face and their parents are making the money b/c no way is RU-vid regulating that side of things.
All I’m going to say is that I found it peculiar that Demi was on that list that Puffy read off with the little girl… With her past abuse and her drug use….. Enough said…
well, supposing you’re referring to family channels, since its in a sort of public domain, non private cable or streaming and its produced by the families themselves and they’re not acting but portraying themselves and just their lives its very nuanced in if they ciuld be part of guilds like that i believe
@@srami004Children can join the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), but there are some things to consider: Eligibility There are several ways to join SAG-AFTRA, including being hired for a principal role under a SAG-AFTRA contract, getting background vouchers, or being a paid member of a sister union for at least one year. Work permits Most states require a work permit for minors to work, and a letter from the child's school confirming their academic standing. SAG-Eligible status SAG-Eligible (SAGe) status means that someone has met the requirements to join SAG-AFTRA but has not yet paid dues. SAGe status can allow children to be cast in SAG projects while also doing non-union work. Parental responsibility Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring that their child is treated fairly and with respect on the job. Union security clauses SAG-AFTRA has union security clauses that fine producers who hire performers who are obligated to join the union. Im all for people overcoming addiction but celebrities are cringe because they act like there only people who have smoke bit gear off foil and totally got clean because there strong....No hun u have best help and you ain't really done anything
kids barely know what they’re gonna want for lunch each day nonetheless how to navigate Hollywood contracts and things they see adults doing to them and around them. Not to mention the brain isn’t fully developed us specially and this is really important in the area the mind where decision making and self-control on top of identity and basically knowing who you are and what you want and how that affects not just yourself but others… scientifically that is not fully developed until about the mid 20s 25 is what neurologist typically say. So to put pressure and workload on a person without the right tools to navigate the job and what happens after is like putting a child on a highway and not telling them what fast cars are, hoping for the best. I’m sorry I know they’re necessary and some child stars have had good experiences and it led to fantastic careers and opportunities which is awesome and I fully support that but I can see the other side and how being hated as an adult for things you never got to learn properly and may have had your brain wired a certain way that people don’t know about not even you expecting you to act like an idol all the time yeah that’s a recipe for disaster. The worst part is that Hollywood and the people in charge know this all too well and could care less.
I think I get what you're saying. I sympathize with her dealing with her issues but this comes across as more trauma grifting. At least in my opinion anyway.
@@tea13 fr. Listening to them talk about their mental health while 99% of the world feels the same but minus the fame and fortune is actually insane lol.
