I’m almost 14 I didn’t start appreciating Demi’s music or her until last year but I grew up listening to her when I was younger from my mom because she would always play her songs in the car and I loved them

This reaction was awesome and this song makes me cry every time. She just released her album it’s so good it’s a double title “Dancing With The Devil: The Art Of Starting Over” and wow it’s a masterpiece!

To me this song is similar to Christina Aguilera’s Hurt. Both songs are about someone coping with their feelings for their father. It’s hard to deal with the death of your father when you had years of anger and hurt because of him. I know, I went through this recently. If you want the daddy-issues trifecta, I recommend Kelly Clarkson Piece by Piece live at the American Idol series finale. That one will hit you in the feels.

Her biological father was an abusive alcoholic . He passed away a few years ago. This is one of the only performances she’s ever done of this song. She doesn’t perform this song much because it’s very emotional for her.

Her father was also an drug addict. It's what made him act like this. It made in not able to care for his family. demi still cares for him and she knew that he cared for her. Demi wrote this not bc she hated him but bc she forgives him bc now she understands what addiction does to you. She wished he had the chance to become a better person.

When Demi Lovato feels, she feels like NF. Both open up their vulnerability. Both have 👀 so hauntingly mysterious, I don't think anyone could begin to understand the pain that they have undergone.

As the child of an addict, I felt every word of this. Its so hard to admit that there are times when you legitimately, and rightfully, hate your father. And its even harder realizing that you'll never get the chance to fix that. And that it wasn't your mess to fix anyway.
