Call me an overreacting feminine supremacist or an ugly hater or an opinionated loser but I honestly began hating the song after I saw the lyrics. Don't get me wrong, the emotion Demi is able to put into her voice is beautiful and her voice is always on point but I can never listen to this again without a grimace on my face. The fact that she is singing lyrics like: "you ain't nobody till you got somebody" and "what's my hand without your heart to hold" and "everything I need is standing in front of me" just puts a bad taste in my mouth. She is implying that she can't survive or live without a specific person in her life and that without that person in her life is literally nothing. The sentiment is romantic but reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet and not in a good way. Again it is just my opinion but I don't believe these are the types of lyrics that should be seen as romantic.

" and in the video she also left her fiance in the wedding I guess because she realizes that she's that "somebody" and she doesn't need anyone but herself and she just needs to love herself first or something like that. But i get what you say because I felt kinda the same way you felt when I heard the lyrics but after the video I loved the song more so I just recommend that you go watch the video if you haven't already or if you have, go and watch it again and try to understand it more.

Sama Samer: I can see your point. I actually already saw the music video already and I am fond of it. While I still don't approve of Demi's depicted relationship (Because come on, realistically, in fiction or reality she can do so much better), I do like the final scenes of the video. It begins when she is finally hit with the end of a relationship she believed would last (freeze the music video at 6:05, the expression on her face says it all). Then fast forward a bit when she is walking down the aisle, following the path that the her ex. took. (I tend to interpret this part as her being unable to fully let go immediately following the break). But then, stopping she looks back at the path she took as she chased the ex, finally reaching the conclusion that she doesn't need him. (symbolized when she takes off the ring at 6:34). These final scenes are my favorite because they show that growth is possible even after heartbreak and independence from another person is possible. However, while I enjoyed and agree with you in terms of the video, I still don't think I'll ever be able to fully enjoy the song beyond Demi's vocal talent. So I guess we can agree to disagree. P.S. Thank you for giving your opinion in a reasonable way instead of just cursing me out.

And this moment when she's "walking the path that her ex took" she's actually just going away and he's the one who's been left and she was just imagining him leaving at first because at some ponit of the video (i believe after "he left her" he whispers "I'm sorry" but at the end of the video she's the one whispering "I'm sorry". But you know I could be wrong. But when I listen to this song I like to think that most of it is to herself.
