Dude, this takes me back. I even found and downloaded this for my PS1 Classic. It came with my first PS1 WAY back on 1995, and I remember that I REALLY wanted Twisted Metal.
@bigsilentrob

I still enjoy this demo disc today. There were several games on here I had to have shortly after launch once they were released. Twisted Metal, Tekken, Extreme Games and so many more. My favorite era of gaming.

I just added Jumping Flash to my collection last year. Still a lot of fun today. Tekken and Wipeout are still some of my all time favorites

Nice!! I finished my set of 102 longboxes last year. I had a hard time finding Jumping Flash. It was one of the last 5 I needed to finish that off.

The nostalgia man! mid to late 90s was a great time to live! Not just the games but the movies and shows Hercules, Xena, X Fles, SLiders, Voyager, DS9, Babylon 5, Cleopatra 2525, Jack of all Trades, WWE attitude era MOvies like Armageddon, Deep Impact, Phantom Menace, Jurassic PArk 2 and games like Doom, Rsident Evil, Tomb Raider, Diablo, XCOM Of course by the late 90s I discovered the wonderful world of PC gaming and found legendary games like Baldurs Gate, DarkStone, Nocturne, Carnivore, Everquest and Diablo 2

The PS1/N64/Saturn is my favorite era of gaming. I have a ton of Official Playstation Magazine demo discs that I'm planning to start playing and uploading in the near future. Picks was such a great demo disc.

This is my 1995! At least my September... I preordered the PS1 and got ESPN Extreme with it. And i played this demo until i was sick of it! Today, i finally own every single game on this demo... I'd give anything to go back to that time!
@bigsilentrob
@bigsilentrob 8 месяцев назад
I pre-ordered mine back then too. I still have the sampler CD that I received when I pre-ordered. I got Street Fighter the Movie with mine and it's still one of my guilty pleasure games. I picked up ESPN Extreme Games a couple of weeks later. October 7th, I picked up MK3 (the reason I got the console in the first place) and Toshinden. That will always be my favorite era of gaming.

@@bigsilentrob absolutely, the 3rd gen is my bread and butter too. Yeah I have the Hear it Now Play it Later disc too. That time ('95 - '97) is my favorite time in gaming.

Hear It Now Play It Later. I couldn't think of that to save my life. Totally agree, the best few years of gaming were at that time. I love the Saturn and N64 as well. Great times!!

@@bigsilentrob we're brothers in that, man! I'll add the Panny 3DO, too. These systems were just so important to my high school-brained soul at the time. Anyway, if you're still making videos I'm subbed.

This takes me back to the earliest days of my first PlayStation 1. I used to have this disc and play it more times than I can remember. Sadly, I don't have it now. But I remember when this demo disc was still a really big thing, the beginning of the PS1 era with these original launch titles were such a huge deal. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! :)
@bigsilentrob
@bigsilentrob 2 года назад
Glad I could give you a nice trip down memory lane. As much as I played this disc, I'm surprised it still works. Unfortunately, my launch console doesn't. The PS1 is what got me back into console gaming. I missed a lot of the 16 bit era as I was mainly an arcade gamer then. For more trips down PS1 memory lane, I also have a PS1 launch titles video and another video that features all 102 longboxes. Thanks for checking it out.

I had a thing for the Kileak trailer as a kid, so much that I sort of couldn’t believe it when all the magazines were giving it 3 stars or less, until I finally tried it myself. That thumping techno music still distinctive and kind of holds up today. I wonder if it was custom made for that trailer or borrowed from somewhere. I distinctly remember being put off when, in the actual game, it doesn’t make that telephone ringing sound as the guy twists that knob to open the door. It made it almost seem like he was turning a rotary dial, which I actually thought was cool lol.
@bigsilentrob
@bigsilentrob 3 года назад
I still enjoy the music to this one. I made that same connection about the door opening sounding like a rotary phone as well. That brought me back to my childhood for sure. The gameplay wasn't bad for its time, but doesn't hold up well today. I had never played the full game until 5 or so years ago when I started collecting my full longbox set.

i had to look up playstation picks because i couldnt remember what age i started walking to school by myself. this confirms i was 9 years old at the time. so i probably started around 8 or even 7. i remember telling my friend to ask my dad if we could play his playstation because i was too scared to ask.
@bigsilentrob
@bigsilentrob 7 месяцев назад
Good ol days. Seems like when you're a kid, your parents are more likely to say yes to your friend rather than you. Weird how that works. When I was about that age, my dad's friend had an Atari 2600 and I'd always go with him so I could play it. We didn't have one yet. I'd spend hours playing Yars Revenge and Laser Blast over there.
@HannibalOrJustRex
@HannibalOrJustRex 2 года назад
Haha! After all these years I still remember this note for note. For so long this was the only thing I had to play when I was a kid and didn't have any real games unless my older brother who had a job and a car had rented a game from Hollywood Video. I'd rotate between Extreme Games, Wipeout, Jumping Flash, and Toshinden. For whatever reason I'd also watch that Kileak video a bunch too. Never actually ended up playing the game, but even with the complete lack of actual gameplay footage I really wanted to. "Only no training can prepare you..." was such a weird line that I now assume must have been a miscommunication in language translation. Ahh, good times even if they were only the demo versions of good times

Me and a friend of mine for close to 30 years now still get together a couple times a year and go back to playing some old PS1 games and we always start with a full season of Extreme Games. I played this demo a lot for the first month or two until some other stuff started releasing....MK3, Destruction Derby, Loaded.
