Dear Professor, I`m learning with your excellent lessons the method. Just one question, is it possible to use Hardy Cross also when the flow rate outlets are unknwon. So if I want to use this method for design of fire hydrants system, by imagine that a certain number of hydrants are always fully open?
I think that you would need to make some flow rate assumptions to be able to apply the Hardy Cross method -- without flow rates then pressure loss cannot be estimated. In your case maybe you could do a sensitivity analysis to have certain hydrants fully open and see what is the system reaction. And then change which hydrants are open and perform the analysis again.
Thank you for your efforts, but regarding the change of the water source level from 65m to 0 at point A requires at least 65m of pipe length, although it does not appear in the equations, but it does not correspond to reality. Thanks again
