Great video. I am having problems with my waterer. I dont have holes that need to be soldered, but, there MUST be a vacuum leak somewhere!!!! Maybe in the future: Someone will invent a stainless steel chicken waterer. I would be willing to pay good money for that. Maybe you could also get extra seals. Seals that would be easy to work with. seals that would not allow you to leak all 5 gallons in under 10 minutes. Oh.......I think I will go start that company NOW!!!!!!
I have the opposite problem. My waterers don't keep leaking water into the tray. Always have to lift the lids to fill the trays which defeats the purpose.
When the trough sides overflow all over and IS not Leaking on the bottom through corrosion of oxidized rust holes (as this video shows soldering up rusted holes). It will most likely be that the seams on the outer sleeve are leaking air and breaking the vacuum and allowing the atmospheric pressure to force the water through the springed gasketed seal and all over the floor of the coop (at the time where most people chuck it and go buy a new one..Some new ones have a leaking sleeve at the factory). they all will eventually fail when the rivets or seams corrode and leak thus not holding the vacuum to the level of the rubber gasketed opening at the bottom. The water level in the trough should never be higher than the inlet opening. to fix this take a wire brush and clean all the spot welds rivets and seams really well. Get a tube of kitchen and bath silicone caulk and a 1 inch wide new foam painters brush . put a small 3/16" bead directly over the rivets and seams and swirl and flatten out the bead then let it dry for 24 hrs and It WILL NOT OVERFLOW and the chicken especially will be happy. and The coop will like it even better. Or you could Solder all the Seams as this gentleman did in the video. same process but silicone is easier. Cheers
