Haha! Love this! The banjitar sounds great, and this is a another one of my favorite songs. It seems like we're psychically connected, since I'm working on a lot of the same tunes you've been posting lately. The cameos of Kirk with his (new?) friend are hilarious, too.
@@tracybadger6950 thanks for responding, I still own and play my first Goldtone banjitar but removed the resonator, for lighter Weight and replaced the clear head for an opaque head. Cheers 😀
@@tracybadger6950 yes, but just a little. It isn’t as loud but I play with an amp so I don’t need it. It’s lighter now and I can always put it back on. I think Gold Tone now makes an electric banjitar without the resonator.
One of the great features of a 4 string banjo is the natural ability to play tremolo on one or more strings. Virtually every 6 string player transposes guitar technique and are limited by that.
@@tracybadger6950 There are many banjo players from the 1920s. Virtually every band used a 4 string banjo that has a bright, peppy sound because it provided most of the rhythm along with the bass/tuba. (the piano and drums were minimal) So that was the standard for dozens of bands. I'm only aware of one instance where a 6 string was used - that was Johnny St. Cyr with Louis Armstrong's Hot Fives and Hot Seven. The banjo virtuosos in the old days used a 4 string because it offered more variety in terms of tremolo techniques. There were lots of variations of this. And today there are modern day experts that get all sorts of sounds using those same techniques. It is also easier to play in different keys - nobody ever used a capo. I'm sorry but most 6 string players don't have their instrument adjusted properly (it's tubby and overly ringy) and they most often come from a guitar background. Rock, folk, country, bluegrass, etc. Those are the influences (which sound very similar) that players relate to now. Not many musicians have even heard of Harry Reser or Eddie Peabody. They used a combination of full chord with melodies as well as single string showstoppers.

I am a guitarist and have been for 54 years. My introduction to the banjitar happened while rehearsing w fellow guitarists, and one of them brought their banjitar in for me to try. I fell in love with the instrument. Yes - having some knowledge of the guitar easily transfers to a six- string banjo as the tuning is the same using standard E. Normally what I post here on YT and FB are more of a serious nature but I do have a sense of humor and like to post the fun videos like this one as well. It is not my intention to offend anyone, nor am I a spokesperson for ANY brand of instrument. I simply do what I do and hope folks enjoy what I post. Best - Tracy

Bought my 750 back in the late 1990's, and yes it is heavy. But as a guitar player it works well when doing old Kingston Trio songs when I play songs with others at our local COA song alongs. I like the high string adaption as I did that with a six string guitar years ago.

Struggling to get the right hand adjusted on my banjitar. To often a thumb nail may hang up and make what can only be called a bong sound. Enjoyed hearing you playing and will look for more.
Hi Marty. Well, those pesky thumb nails can get in the way. I hope you can work around that. Maybe try a thumb pick? I'm not a pick user myself but you might adapt to using one easily. Thank you for your compliment and I hope to hear you as well:)

Very nice! This video popped up in my SoMe feed, and really caught my attention. Firstly because i play a "Banjitar" myself (Epiphone stagebird). Secondly, because you sing and play well and obviously enjoy this. Good! Thirdly, your significant other back there should know better, he ought to sit down, look and you and listen... instead of engaging in plastic ;-)...! One question: What "thinner strings" do you use for EADG? Thanks! :-)
Hi! Thank you for listening/watching and glad you enjoyed it. I'm sure you love your banjitar as much as I do. Not a banjo player but loved the fact that I could play this like a guitar. My significant other gets to hear me practice and play all of the time, but we thought it would be fun to incorporate a little bit more humor into this video. As far as the strings go, I had this set up by one of my luthier friends so I am not sure of the string gauges to be honest, and have only changed them once. I know the E, A and D strings are a very light gauge because I am tuning them up an octive for the 'Nashville' tuning. I have the info written down and will look for it and get back with you. Thank you! Yes I do use amps but this particular video was completely acoustic and no amps/mics. The resonator on the banjitar is a natural amplifier 🤣
Yes indeed they do. I am referring to the folks from GoldTone who incorporated the 6-string banjitar into their product line. I’d re-do this video w more clarification but it wouldn’t be the same. If I were guessing, I would say due to the sound of the instrument. I tried one a while back and loved it. If I could make it sound 1/10 as good as she does I would endure a little discomfort too. Nice job Ms. Badger
