Should the DRC and Congo Republic join forces and form one super country? Also, which other African countries and/or cities should I compare next? Thanks yet again to Newsvoice for sponsoring this video. Obviously, I believe in the app: newsvoice.com/mrbeat And finally, don't forget to check out Jabzy's video about the Second Congo War, the deadliest war since WWII: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OIW648jFLmU.html
Maybe Eritrea and Djibouti or comparing 2 stans (like kazakstan) or Argentina ad Chile or Cape Town and Johannesburg or Abuja and Lagos or Casablanca and Rabat
The Congo has always had bad luck. Rich in natural resources Belgium under king Leopold the second claimed it as the Congo free state and did quite possibly some of the most evil things in European history and just an awful guy. Plauged by poor leadership and corrupt politicians the Congo often is taken advantage of by other nations. With correct leadership and reforms it could be one of the richest nations in Africa and even the world but only time will tell.
That's my city 😍😍 I'm actually commenting from Congo Brazzaville here 🇨🇬 , so many people get confused about the two Congos, your Informations are accurate ! Kuddos to your work I'm impressed ! Standing near the Congo river in Brazzaville you can actually see cars passing in Kinshasa its beautiful , Both Congos are very Rich ,too bad the population does not Benefit from it, Thank you for sharing our story !!
Wouldn’t mind seeing Sudan and South Sudan compared, especially with how to those who don’t know much about them, they seem so similar. But in fact, they’re crazy different.
@@wesleyrichards6045 The dominant tribal power bases are also very different. Good suggestion. I have a very good South Sudanese friend who came here to Australia as a refugee and has done well for himself, becoming a lawyer and working to support other refugees. He's distraught at the moment because his home village was recently attacked and some 22 members of his extended family were killed. One thing common across Africa, sadly, is the presence of constant threat from lawless bands of thugs.
@@leroi1297 Oh dear, sorry I upset you. Are you from Africa? There are some well managed, peaceful parts of Africa, but even there, the threat of attack from some warlord or other is ever present. Much of Africa is under constant alert, from the West right through the centre of the great continent to the East coast. You claim it's a war in the Congo, fought by soldiers, but last I heard soldiers don't attack peaceful villagers with machetes, cutting off limbs and heads, and taking young boys to serve the warlord. You might not like the idea, mate but it's the facts. It's safer than living in some parts of the US, certainly, but compared to civilised places, it's an appalling situation. I have another friend, from DRC, who's been living in a refugee camp in Uganda for some years. Uganda had a wave of attacks only a month or so ago and it's one of the more peaceful nations. Several dozen people hacked to death and decapitated.
As a (DRC) congolese, I think your use of the word "mismanagement" is on point. This includes the fact that although European countries benefit from the country's mineral wealth, Congolese leaders have and continue to contribute to the disorder in DRC. Great video!
On you question whether we think both countries should join forces, my answer is: I think all Africa, not only the 2 Congos should join up and become one single super COUNTRY. If that super Africa, is industrialised, it will outclass China 🇨🇳 and 🇺🇸 US. You may also investigate and evaluate and assess how would a Super Africa as one super power would look like and economically perform.
Fitzgerald and Khaty Mobali Banda..! And be speaking one European language? Even at that development is made a whiff harder... every regional language should be used in our formal education only then can we find what unites us.... Western and central Africa civilization are basically oral since the end of kemitic civilization!
I’m a Congolese from the DRC 🇨🇩, I thank you for the video, the story of our country is too bad, sometimes I cry, between international interference and national political instability, recently we elected a new president he has to deal with the last president who has more members in parliament, senate, and province, the guy block the development of the country, he has been in power for 18 years, but he did nothing good for the country, he got rich, he did nothing for our army, the army that use to be one the great in Africa, the country has been ruled by corruption and people are use to it, recently they put in jail the president chief of staff he stole more than 20millions dollars for infrastructures projects introduced by the new president, We hope that the future will be good for us,
Thank you for the video, i am from Congo Brazzaville and very proud to be Congolese. I love my brothers from the other Congo(DRC) we are one. You're all welcome to The Congo, Come and enjoy the music, dance, food etc. There is fun here!😍
Picture it: it’s 2040. I’m watching the 7th season of Rick and Morty and suddenly I remember. So many years ago I made a promise. I run to my study and power up my computer. I can’t believe my eyes, he really did keep his promise: the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo updated edition. I weep uncontrollably, oh how the years have passed.
Thank you so much for this! My father is from DRC and my mother is from Nigeria, I’ve been trying to learn more about where we come from and this breakdown was really helpful to learn about my dads side.
There is a mistake at 1:06 minute of this video. The Republic of the Congo or Congo Brazzaville is NOT RDC. Rdc is the abbreviation of DRC in French (République Démocratique du Congo) and it's the other Congo (Congo Kinshasa).
I'm agrea and it's not the only mistake in this vidéo. Has an congolese girl im disapointed with some information that he give that sourd false for me.
Mbote !! Thank you so much to compare my country (🇨🇬) and my neighbour and to do understanding to several people our importance and role. Don't hesitate to come here you'll be always welcome. It's a goodness for me (naza ko sepela biloko ozo Sala, yesu a batela yo❤️) merci 💖💝💘
Nice one there buddy, i'm actually from Congo-Brazzaville and my wife is from DRC, we feel like we are just from the same country, though some slight differences in terms of culture. Both very rich countries, but bad leadership and still so much dependent on the western Europeans countries which prevent both countries to really enjoy form its natural resources. Hopefully in 20 years as you said things will change as there's so much potential in there.
Mario Mulaja Mobutu helped kill the man who helped shape our independence. Your flag is so ignorant you’re an embarrassment to all Congolese. And so? Your point is because people are suffering more right now we should still go back to the past under dictatorship that was just as bad? Your aurgument is ignorant and makes no sense. Anyone with that Zaire flag is stupid and uneducated. You might as well say you supported the killing of Patrice Lumumba with that stupid flag.
Mr. Beat, I just want to let you know that you inspired me to make my own RU-vid videos. Your Presidential Election videos were so refreshing and told a quick version of events that were accurate and didn't oversimplify. Thank you Thank you Thank you. This video was great and honestly, I would like to see more videos like this. Educating people is so important, people aren't going to learn this in school.
As a Congolese man 🇨🇩, I just say, job well done. Bravo. Your analysis simultaneously made me proud and uneasy. The economic development happening in DRC right now is astronomical!
A "United Congo" would eventually be Africa's largest nation; - Nigeria is collapsing internally among the northern muslims & southern christians, while their northern lands are getting hotter and less able to support food crops growth and water. I won't be surprised if the nation splits into half. - Egypt is contending with rising hot temperatures and less food supply to fuel its growth thanks to climate change. - Ethiopia also looks set to split apart with their ongoing internal wars and increased desertification. Which thus leaves a rich-in-resources United Congo with plenty of forests and water to fuel its growth.
I realized after watching this video that I need to learn more about African history. It's so interesting, and I feel like it's harder to find good information about. Thank you for continuing to put up such awesome content, by the way!
Is anyone else sick and tired of history starting with "the first Europeans...." @9:09 I am saying this as someone who is British/European... I am 100% done with history having been rewritten by colonialism. After we redrew all the lines on the map around the world, we decided to try and redraw borders in Europe... this famously led to a little scuffle called "The First World War". I am sorry world. I can promise you that I will try my bestest to prevent this from happening again (at least in UK/Europe; I am NOT taking responsibility for the USA).
It’s not about history being rewritten by colonialism, it’s about written sources. I am from Finland and our history pretty much begins with Swedish takeover since so little is known prior.
@Rick K Either you are some kind of bigot or a white supremacist of some sort to find that invading a country, exploiting its natural resources without any compensation, making the locals work at slave wages, under all kind of physical abuses, exploiting and looting their natural resources and calling it "a favor for the sake of civilizing the locals" just like that other piece of sheet King Leopold did and all of this without ever have pay for these atrocities. You say you are okay with that? Racist piece of sh@%t!
Shocking to hear of the Congo Free State and to know the ruling King's statues are still standing in Belgium today, although some have recently been removed. Never knew about it and feel disturbed but thanks for the education.

Mr. Beat You’re welcome! Should keep me occupied through the hurricane that’s projected to strike Florida in a day and a half. I’ve binge watched the series twice and I can’t wait to see its book adaptation.
I'm from Brazil, and I study Computer Science with a guy who is from Congo Republic. He knows so many languages and is a Very clever guy. It seems the country is investing high in the education of their people, with many studying abroad.
I enjoyed your video and comparison. I visited the Congo DRC a year or so ago. The people are wonderful despite the horrible things that have occurred there. I have a strong hope that they will rise and be valued within the world. Leopold was pure evil. Keep making videos. Yes, I believe that both DRC & RDC should join and become one! Together we become stronger!
I think Kinshasa and Brazzaville are two of the coolest city names in the world. Also for some reason all the ex soviet central Asian countries have capitals with cool sounding names, like Tashkent, Ashgabat and Bishkek. Also also Singapore v Kuala Lumpur pls (I'm just gonna keep writing this over and over ;) ).
Born and raised for 8 yrs in Kinshasa,DRC🇨🇩 but live in the States. Jan 17 1961 is a very important date for a native of my beloved homeland. 🙏🏾 "One day Africa will tell its story,....and it will be full of pride and glory"- Lumumba #kemafumbe🇨🇩
I like 👍🏾 it though, by the way I am from Congo 🇨🇬, was born and raised in Pointe-Noire, lived in Brazzaville, now I live in the UK for the past 20 years, I visit Congo twice a year, nice place. The two Congo’s will be never joined... We’ve got a bitter-sweet relationship between us due to history. But we’re very close also very apart paradoxically.
Just out of curiosity, what makes up the difference? I am asking as a Kenyan Bantu and just wanting to get a grasp. Is it the colonial set up that precipitated these "paradoxical" differences and if so can they be remedied? I just have so much affection for Congo knowing also that those are my origins.
@@GODFEKA2009 first is the fact that we are colonid by different countries, we don't really look the same, we speak different langaue beside lingala french and kikongo that you can hear in both countries our history is diffrent i'm from Dr congo 🇨🇩 our history is very diffrent plus not all of congo 🇨🇩 was part of the kongo kingdom the only part of my country that was part of the kongo kingdome is a place called bas kongo in my country 🇨🇩 but beside this the rest of congolese people are not really related to congo brazzavile, angola or other countries that were in the congo kingdom but we are very diffrent but also similar in our own ways I think the two congo won't go back together because we don't want to go back togehter not becaise we hate each other more like we have already grown apart and want to be two diffrent countries instead of being known as the same which we are not but we don't hate eahc other, we do bussiness we each other and travel to see each other country 😊 🇨🇩❤
@@rebeccam.7249 we don’t really look the same? Girl bye you must look rwandaise Bc all Congo I know from both side I cant tell difference except when they talk, or present themselves. Congo Brazzaville are more calm spirit and not to much makeup, but Kin is different y’all are more out going. Don’t say we kinda look different as if you look East African or égyptiens. From west Africa to central we all have similar features.
Rebecca M....!! That’s why civility and developments have become so hard... use Lingala or other regional language for your formal education, our culture is deep, it contains many vocabularies for science and technology!
Yay! Another Beat Compared Video! Another African Compared you should do Guinea vs Guinea bissau. Because let's face it not many people know these places exist! or why their names are so similar.Good Job! Beat!
Great video! Even those who work in the region get them mixed up. We call it “Congo Confusion.” Two small notes: One cannot sail up the Congo from the Atlantic. The rapids are too violent. Also, “RDC” is the French version of “DRC.” For Congo-B we use “ROC.”
As a Congolose from Brazzaville, this is very very accurate. I'm curious on how you gathered your information sir? Unbiased, factual and precise comparison. Good job!!
I THOUGHTLY enjoyed this video!! Thank you for making, sharing, and educating us all Mr. BEAT. OH, and although different in some ways now, I would still like to see the two countries remerge back to the name "Kingdom of Congo". 🔅🔆
Thank you. This is a great video and quite acurate. I'm from the Republic of Congo and surprised you found so much information about the two countries.
@?? go too see the angola Chokwe statue of the legendary "Chibinda Ilunga" , this is a link with my tribe of Luba in RD Congo. We were connected before.
THANKS for the video folks. But RDC isn’t the appellation of the republic of the Congo. It’s rather the French acronym for Republique Democratique du Congo. So DRC is RDC in French.
Mr. Beat, I have some suggested countries you should compare in future videos. Suggestions: Sudan and South Sudan Haiti and Dominican Republic Australia and New Zealand Belgium and The Netherlands United States and Canada
I hope both Congos can get rid of the corruption and recover from so much war and colonialism. Congolese people have so many resources that with good functioning governments they could dominate the African economy❤❤
I stumbled upon this video by chance, and I'm so glad to see you talking about my country, it's just cool of you. I am currently in Brazzaville, and right across the street we can clearly see Kinshasa, as you said so well, the nearest capitals.
Thanks for your work, to go that deep back in our history is outstanding, From Brazzaville i send you my love, The Congos have a shared hosting and we share some of our costumes but we are two different nations, And the shape of our Congo is a seating woman, its on our national seals But Congo Kin or Brazza, to lingui yo, to lova yo.
For your record DRC has 450 spoken dialects as opposed to the 250, and you forgot to mention that it’s the wealthiest country on the planet in terms of its natural resources incl; fresh water minerals, oil arable land and of course its population with the estimated $23 trillion only in mineral reserve, a combined gdp of the US/EU economies in fact, it currency in the 60th /70th was 1fc=$2, the planned hydroelectric dam named grand inga project on Congo river has an estimated potential of 40000 megawatts of electric power output able to supply the entire continent with parts of Europe, the DRC is very intimidating to the west especially US and Europe; because of it size, natural resources and younger population hence destabilised politically by the West, It is not like any other country in terms of its resources an geographical location, Back in the days during the in the beginning of industrialisation; DRC drove the world economy through it rubber, during the Cold War most of I munitions used was made from then DRC cobalt, the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bomb was made in DRC . When talking about poverty; this has been imposed through proxy leadership by the West powers so they can keep their hands on free natural resources of the DRC. Technically the in African directly linked to the situation in DRC. you still need to do more research to understand this fascinating country than just a superficial comparison. Thank you 🙏 for the video.
I got excited every time when they talk about the Congos especially RDC until they talk about natural resources then it reminds me what is going on the eastern side of the country. Yikes!
Thank you for this video! So much potential, and positive potential for all of Earth can be unlocked with Africa. Just imagine the solar power in the deserts, the hydro power and the land mass. I almost think when Africa is solved, most of Earth will be solved.
This video was so interesting and fun! Thank you so much for making it! Our city here in eastern Iowa has become home to many wonderful immigrants from these 2 countries in recent years, so I'm trying to learn more about their homelands, so I can better understand and appreciate them.
There is presently another Congo by the way... in Angola, which is actually called Mbanza Congo, the capital of one of the provinces located in the northern part of Angola.
Welcome's House I’m from cabinda the frontier is in DRC Cabinda wasn’t part anything more kingdom which included north Angola south of Congo and southwest of DRC and west gabon
Lol the way he pronounces Kimbanguist. They are an interesting religion. I was a missionary in Brazzaville and Cameroon for 18 months and had to go back home cause of COVID :(. loved Congo tho, people are very nice
Oh nice. I'm from Cameroon but live in Johannesburg, SA and just out of curiosity, where in Cameroon were you? Were you with the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC)
You don't try to separate the two they are the same, same way of acting, same nature, the same language, same food..... if you are from both Congo y'all gotta show some love 😍 ✌
I remember doing a high school social studies project, where we formed pairs in the classroom and every pair had to select one of the LEDCs in the world. My friend and I picked "the Congo" as we knew it back then and wrote down "Republic of Congo" on the signup sheet. Needless to say, my teacher asked us to clarify and I can online imagine how much worse it would have been if we actually did it on the Republic of the Congo (which is a lot harder to find stuff about).
From Congo (Republic). Great video indeed. But at 8:29 saying that both countries used to be part of the Kongo Kingdom, that's not very accurate. The old Kongo kingdom was, like many other kingdoms and chieftaincies in the region, split between the current countries (Angola, Congo, DR Congo, and Gabon). So the countries could not be part of a single Kingdom (as you've mentioned few of the others later on) but instead it would be more accurate to say that "The two countries have portions of the Kongo Kingdom.
