The Bees nest is actually a Wasps nest.. I had one like that in a dryer vent here in the states.. its sort of like paper.. but bee glad its a dead nest.. lol

I live in St. Louis, Missouri and on our first and second floor, Yes both have concrete floors!!! Crawl spaces are as fun as being stung by trillions of hornets!!!!! Don't understand Euros in the United States!!! But here I found out that Lead is per lb fancy money. some keep it to cook it and make fishing weights, some use it for electronic solder, but if you sell it here in the United States it goes for much more than copper. Not a bee's nest!!! A Hornets nest, luckily it is empty, for they swarm like no tomorrow to kill you when you upset them!

My dad was a scrapper. Growing up (I’m 1 of 12 kids) dad would give us magnets what stuck to the magnet went in one pile what didn’t went in another, we would load up the pickup go to the scrap yard. He scrapped for extra cash for non food items. Grew up on a farm so we raised our food. Copper is definitely cash good job. Can’t wait to see the end result ❤❤

I think it's actually an old wasp nest.. A bee nest consists of combs: hexagonal cells, made of beeswax. A wasp nest has small egg chambers and is made of finely chewed wood ;)

Make sure that water dries or you will have mold growing. You don't need a hallway with two walls. Just half wall on kitchen side, no wall on other side so you can see living room when you enter. Will make it look large and open. imo. You are making great progress.

Our first house was built in the 1920’s here in the US. It had an upstairs bathroom with a concrete floor (6 inches deep) containing all the pluming. We had to jack hammer it to re do the bathroom. Good luck - hope you have a better experience.

There is some woodwork in the ceiling. The copper price is favorable.

I feel your pain crawling under the house, I used to do under floors installing insulation. It wasn't a ton o fun but it paid the bills.

Since you are putting a steel post have you thought about putting a steel beam in and removing the wall . This would let you put a bank of cabinets with a counter top. Have you looked in to kitchen displays that are being replaced. You could also get the box you want and put a door and drawer cover you like. Renovating is always stressful and full of surprises. Doing a great job! Time to go magnet fishing for scrap metal.

Gidday Leigh, from a Kiwi to an Aussie, I'd so love it if you wore a hard hat, especially if you're there alone. My husband's had a few close calls in this area but he's a drongo so I expect it shouldn't be too hard for you to remember to do this!

Hi from NW Wisconsin, U.S.A. I know it was disappointing to have to replace the rotten beams, but now your floors will last another 100 years (at least)!! Your expenses only add value to your house. It's hard to believe they poured that amount of heavy concrete onto a 2nd story floor!!! Interesting construction methods!!! It's nice you can take your construction debris to a dump. We have to get expensive dumpsters for debris removal. Really enjoying your videos!!! 💚 💛 💚

You and my RU-vid friend Jenna Phipps are in the same boat. She bought a 1950s designer home in Canada which was empty for about 20 years. It was filled with all it contents from the previous owner. And like you they have nearly demolished it because of rot and mould and leaky roof. It's funny but not funny watching the both of you demolishing your houses. But I know once you have rebuilt them, they will be spectacular 😊. Did you have a building inspector check out the house before you bought it? In New Zealand that is standard practice before buyers buy a home now. If the are structural problems they can take that into account when making an offer on the property.

Perks of the trade selling copper and lead. Good way to earn free money. I really like the open plan look now the walls are gone. Ah mate I bet if you started your engine and closed your eyes, your camper van would take you to the tip on auto pilot😂 Take it easy mate and catch you in the next one!

The nest looks like Yellow Legs Hornet (Asian Hornet).

Try and find a used kitchen of just second hand cabinet doors, in real wood - an buy new cabinets from Ikea to put old doors on .... Cabinet doors are whats most expensive in a kitchen ... Did it myself - cheap and looks good ..... Put a new colour on the doors - used a laquer stain on them .... The most trouble was that the Ikea cabinets har wrong holes for the doors - solution was, making new holes that fitted old doors, using the plane side of the cabinets to do that - the outside that is ... And the Ikea cabinets only came in 20-40-60-80 cm size - had doors that was 30 and 50 cm wide .... Easy solution - cut it less wide ... Did all that without any specialist equipment ...

I guess the big takeaway is, start with demolishing everything? :D

Don't Ya'll have home inspections there before you buy a house, so you can at least know some of the problems you will be buying? It's a shame all the work you have to do. I guess once you're finished you could get your home appraised with all the upgrades that yawl will be able to use for proof of value and of course I would save the videos for that purpose also. Geez, I'm surprised the builder got away with a wood column to carry that 4500 KILOS! Would not pass an Australian Standard. Would need a brick or steel column with i-beam to transfer the load to the column. KRIKEY!

I just score some Gyprock top coating for FREE woohoo so now I can fix the wall and ceiling properly and have a nice smooth finish. Love getting the notice for your reno page but it's giving me some anxiety 🤣🤣 houses are so problematic seriously. Can wait to finally finish I'm over renovating

Leigh you are damaging your skin so bad with those googles. You need to line them with duo foam from the pharmacy or ask for something similar.
