Great video. Summer visitors rarely see the off-season construction and changes as they occur. Thanks, Joey! I wonder if the bar development is a place holder until they build another hotel or condo project. The bar requires less capital and still generates revenue until the their ready to build or sell the property.
There's nobody who actually buys these properties to maintain them most of them want to change the place completely like Regal Plaza Motel and others want to demolish it for commercial lots like Ocean Sands Motel. All these hard earning Americans who had a dream is all gone.
The old Wildwood is being torn away a little at a time. Look at it in Wildwood in 1985, 1999, 2005,2015, today, and you will see a totally different Wildwood. By 2030 Wildwood will be just another cookie cutter ocean town like Sea Isle, Avalon, and Stone Harbor devoid of any past charm and nothing but multi-million dollar corporate owned houses. Very sad.
I know what you mean ! I have fond memories of ol Wildwood in my childhood and teen years 50 years ago ! Yeah I'm old ! That was the place to party and have fun times as a teen (that and Somers Point). Used to rent a place on Juniper Ave. Every summer . I am surprised but it is still there when I looked it up last month ! Kinda hate to see that old stuff go but as it is said "that's progress" ! A dang shame but at least we have our memories ! Have a good day ! Glad to see I ain't the only one that thinks it's sad !
Appears that rules of hazard Wildwood officials can not be trusted. Just look at the crook ex mayor. A co worker who had a home in Wildwood had a narrow plot if land next to his house. He asked the neighbor on the other side if he wanted to go in together and purchase the plot or if not for my friend to purchase it. Neighbor had gone to joke city hall and inquired if the land could be permitted to ever build a house on it. They told him no. Two years later somebody with connections built a narrow house on it. My friend added the highest third floor allowed to block that houses view of the bay. Wildwood must elect people with a set of balls and long range thinking. They must impose a ten year moritourem on all new condos and give owners of old Doo Woop buildings a tax break to maintain them. If you drive a few miles to Cape May that appear to have done a great job retaining a lot of the old houses.
Very depressing. The Wildwood I once knew is gone. I went to Seaside Heights a couple of years ago and I didn't even recognize the boardwalk anymore. I actually started to cry and had to find a spot to be alone and compose myself.
So sad! This was are great location hotel for many years when the kids were growing up! Location ,location! The prices were great to stay there also. Step out and cross the street to rent bikes a few more steps your on the boardwalk. Great restaurants and downtown Wildwood a street back !We moved 1 street behind to the Blue Palms. Blue Palms much nicer same great location and way more expensive! 😢😢
Hey, we absolutely love your videos. We watch all the time.We vacation in the wildwoods every year ., We were wondering if you had any recommendations of realtors that are trustworthy. That maybe we could call , We have stayed in the Madrid every time. that's near wildwood crest please let us know.. Also would be a great video. On how to rent in the wildwoods.
Instead of going to the beach, why not put on your trunks and take a dip in the pool, oh wait they've already turned off the heater, and filter never mind just a thought.
We stayed here almost every summer. This motel will be sadly missed. It was a great location in the middle of everything. Soo sad to see it being demolished 😢 Like we really need another stupid bar!! Very Disappointed!!
Not very smart leaving a pool filled with water and no 6' high fence preventing somebody from falling into it. Ambulance nogoodnic lawyers just love easy law suites from such neglect on owners & demolition contractor.
