This looks so awesome! Please invite Adam Savage and Tested next year. He has mentioned that aerial DD is something of the most fun things he has done and I would love to see a collab on this :D
I'm totally onboard with this idea. Think about this, CBS! A fullblown mini-season of FliteTest/Mythbusters collaboration. Can you even agine the carnage?
@@Thatssocool9100 I was thinking of a design with internal edf's. now that I think about it Peter's leaf blower plane could be an option. (well, the intake of the leaf blower with a edf)
i think this "glassed" design is a big improvement but i think you should mount the props at the trailing edge of the wing so you can ram other planes without causing prop damage.
I've been toying with this idea for a while now. Any thoughts are welcome. I was thinking along the lines of a large ( 1.6 meter), lightly loaded foamboard wing with a pair of 4s 64mm fans. Already have one from a crashed Arrows Marlin and simple enough to order a match from Hobby Zone. What are y'all's thoughts?
I was just thinking that, some way of shielding the props from hits and even stuff like the string, assuming thats within the spirit of the event. I am guessing its meant to be more for fun than "being the best". I'd love to see something like a Do-335 in the FliteTest foamboard, that would be a beast of a plane speedwise
I flew a duct-taped covered Bloody Wonder in every combat I could, supplemented by a mini combat winning mini Sparrow. At the end of Flite Fest, I scrapped the Bloody Wonder, but a family in Tennessee grabbed it and it flew again! My Wonder became a Versa Wing, and it's looking for a re-match with the home built that took it down in epic fashion. Best part of Flite Fest: Foam carnage!
@@bowmanzz1 So was that a defencive device you added or just string you forgot to take off of something? I'm no expert on RC plane fighting but is that string a common thing?
You guys should make an SR-71 Blackhawk or an F117 Nighthawk rc plane. I used to fold paper airplanes, I'd come up with the designs myself for many of them, my most proud work was a perfectly replicated F117 and an F4 Phantom.. did that when I was in middle school.. good times.
Its not possible to build nighthawk. IRL this plane have fly-by-wire, cause he's not possible to fly without them. If somebody'll build, it won't fly. Its phisicly impossible for human.
instead of sanding do a test piece where you wipe the surface lightly with acetone, enough to wet it and evap dry quickly. I think you find a new fast and better process. try a test piece on plastic also you will be pleased
You should put fuses in those individual motor pod circuits. The string loaded that motor down to the point the current (Amps) spiked and the temperature reached ignition. Use a fuse to survive!
My 2 or 3 cents: Mount the Props in the wings, in armored nacelles Armor the servo and connectors with pvc Include a stiff spring in the servo connection to dampen any impact on the control surfaces, Lastly make a 4 engine design, with pusher and puller engine providing primary thrust, and key the side engines to provide up to 50% forward thrust, but up to 100% when using them for yaw control
Hello aircraft modelers! My name is Andrey, you are well done! You have a great development of this sport. I'm from Russia. I really want friends like you to launch planes together. I really love airplane model sports. I used to work with cord models of f2b, f2d aircraft. Now I am building radio-controlled aircraft. I would like to offer you to fly together online and arrange a dogfight competition in the phoenix 6 simulator.
I know it sounds crazy BUT superglue + black contractor trash-bag = indestructible. Y'all might also try an "Isadora Duncan" defense by lightly attaching strands of 4lbs test trout line to the tail to foul anybody sneaking up from the back...
Really? All the experience and all the resources you have and this is the best you could do? Wow! You didn’t even think of using ducted fans? You could have put fiberglass on the ducts too and even put some heavy duty screen over the intake to prevent debris from damaging your engines/props. I’ve never even built or flown a model airplane, yet I could have done a better job than you all did. SMH
You guys are great. Is there any way you could do something related to crimson skies? Its a great zep- punk style aviation themed video game/pc game. The planes featured in it are cool, not to mention the zepplins they take off and land on.
Hey guys I’ve been a watcher for almost a year and in July I made an order for a plane as my birthday present and I’ve been wondering where it’s been could you guys help me get ahold of it
I would love it if you could make a concord fly thay have a bad reputation but im shure that you guys could make it happen and would make an amazing addition to your store
A little forethought, you're going into combat and you put your motors up front, and now that you got crashed because of it now you figured out to put the motors on the back!!
Also add some helium balloons deep in side and well protected cause you are going to need to need compensate as much as possible for this thing being a super heavy weight
I loved when Kraken took down that big plane, so easy with fiber glass. Maybe EDF despite it's lower static thrust would be reliable solution for carnage, especially with fiberglass case and protected intake. Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱
