Only conclusion I can come to after watching a ton of these soviet/serbian/yugoslavian new-wave videos is that in 1980s Eastern Europe a wormhole connected to the year 3000 was somehow opened.
LoMo Yugoslavia was socialist but it was non-aligned, meaning, it had no ties with the USSR. People lump them together with the eastern/soviet block which Yugoslavia was never part of. They were a psudo communist moderately liberal and open to the west commercially and culturally. Big difference from the Soviet block who on the contrary were under a tyranical regime.
This is not a “video,” and this music was made on cheap equipment. I take it you’re not a musician, but rather someone who has decided to use hyperbole to get your comment upvoted enough to reach the top position.

DEMOLITION GROUP comes from Slovenia. They started in 1983 under the name Gast'r'bajtr's. In those days they played their own typical variation of white funk. As Gastarbeiters they released two LP's in former Yugoslavia. In 1986 Gastarbeiters transformed their music into a fusion of heavy metal, funk and electronic rhythms. They felt the name DEMOLITION GROUP was right for the new style. They played many important European festivals such as SAN REMO rock '88, BARCELONA BIENAL '87, BERLIN INDEPENDENCE Days ('89), DRUGA GODBA ('86) and others. Soon after their coming out (1986) they were signed by the Italian label CRUISIN' HIARA Records (Modena), for whom they released two records, which were promoted in most European countries. DEMOLITION GROUP's music is an energetic fusion of electronic and acoustic drums, rock and funk oriented guitars, neurotic saxophone and specific vocals. "They look and sound like Doctor Feelgood after 18 pints having a jam with Killing Joke's roadies" (NEW MUSICAL EXPRESS, 1994) Being excellent musicians, the musical skills of various members of DEMOLITION GROUP are also evident in the work of bands such as LAIBACH, BORGHESIA and many others (varying from rock to contemporary classical). Members: Nikola Sekulović - bass Bojan Fifnja - guitar Jože Pegam - sax Uroš Srpčič - drums (left) Goran Šalamon - vocals Matjaž Pegam - mixing Ivan Rimc - drums (left) Peter Cizelj - drums www.discogs.com/es/artist/98118-Demolition-Group
@@Corsa15DT This is what my serb friend from Bosnia told me about the war in Bosnia, Im sure a similar issue happened in Croatia (also large Serb minority in Slavonia). From her words, that incident really made an impression, and showed the serb minority that they would be repressed in a majority bosniak country.
Oh so now you want more?. That's bloody fantastic really!. Lemme give you a tad few bands as a recommendation..... 1- Perspective Nevski (Moment of Hate) 2- Red Lorry Yellow Lorry (Tear me Up) 3- OTO (Anyway) 4- Intrance95 (Brazilia) Enjoy!
a prelude to the Yugoslav wars. A post-Tito Yugoslavia at the peak of its Debt funded Decadence. The times are radically changing and you can feel it in the air & see it on the news(Nova Revijas) but you ignore it and you do what you know best.. not stopping and continuing to the beat. What beat ? Your own beat? The Slovene beat. 40 years later and we are doomed to repeat history.
@@robroux6074 oh yeah, what the Captain HellFuck would you know about it? Probably enough to be able to make the comment that you did, I guess. Ok you're off the hook.
Isaac Dweck lol you're just a dipshit with a very small grasp on what was produced in this era. If anything the stuff that comes out today relies too much on recycling past sounds
actually this sound was common back in the mid-70's and got poppier as ya got closer to the 80's. Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream (1974-1981), Goblin, Space, Automat (s/t 1978), Zygote, Ose, Jean-Michel Jarre (Oxygene), Vangelis, Klaus Schulz, Cybotron(s/t 1976), heck even in the late 60's there was Silver Apples(You & I, Oscillations)...talk about bands way ahead of their time! There ya go!
@Isaac Dweck This song is rather typical for the alternative music of the era. An eclectic combination of various styles such as post-punk, minimalism, avant-funk, industrial and such. Each band and song has it's own unique mix. There are to many bands like this to call this one in particular as ahead of it's time.
I like this psychedelic, hypnotic sound, which makes me travel in another dimension; a sound from the 70s and exclusive to this era of transcendental meditation, musical experimentation and alternative ways of thinking!
technically, yugoslavia ceased existence in the 2000s, but in the 90s it already ceased to exist because of the balkan wars which pretty much split up yugoslavia as a whole
FYI, The real name of the song is Beautiful Site I (Soft). The actual "You Better Stay Alive" song can only be found on the rerecorded version of Mizerika (For now at least.)
I grew up in Yugoslavia, and am a living witness that we were a retarded country in almost every aspect, but in music, we were light years ahead. Crazy...
there were so many times while listening to this where id be like "oh my god this is fucking amazing I have GOT TO add it to my music playlist" and would try to do so only to realize that I already had. every second of this absolute banger is so fresh that its got me actin like a senile old man doing repetitive shit. speakin of which I should add this to my music playlist
