With innocent victims caught in the crossfire in Los Angeles' intensifying war on crime, both cop John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) and violent thug Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) are sentenced to a state of frozen incarceration known as "CryoPrison." When Spartan is finally thawed 36 years later, it's 2032, and Los Angeles is now a pacifist utopia called San Angeles. But with Phoenix again on the loose, Spartan must team up with future cop Lenina (Sandra Bullock) to apprehend the killer.

Sylvester Stallone starred in Cliffhanger prior to this, while Wesley Snipes preceded this with White Men Can't Jump. I definitely recommend watching all five Rambo films. The actual restaurants are Taco Bell, not Pizza Hut. It was dubbed over for audiences outside the U.S.

Other great Sly Stallone films you should check: Nighthawks (1981), Cobra (1986), Lock Up (1989), Tango & Cash (1989), Cliffhanger (1993), The Specialist (1994), Daylight (1996), Cop Land (1997). Sandra Bullock was also awesome in The Net (1995), A Time to Kill (1996), Miss Congeniality (2000), Murder by Numbers (2001)

This movie is totally awesome and a definite favourite of mine from Sylvester 😁also I think it sort of predicted that COVID was going to hit and what would of happened if got way way worse and pretty sure it would of looked like this. Once again Sylvester Stallone put on a amazing performance same as Sandra Bullok but Wesley Snipes was the cherry on top of the cake like he was such an amazing bad guy one of his best roles in my opinion 👍 I’m so glad you finally got watch this movie and I’m also glad you enjoyed it Tim 😊😊😉😉 ps the rat burger scene and Sex scene are my favourite parts 😄

It seems you have the weird version of the movie where they replaced Taco Bell with Pizza Hut. Taco Bell is the food place in the normal version. For some foreign versions they used Pizza Hut instead since at the time, some countries had no idea what Taco Bell was.

I wouldn't call it weird; just an alternative version. In some countries; Taco Bell only existed in the US, so the Pepsi Company which owns both, had the studio use Pizza Hut instead. So I wouldn't call it weird; as no one outside of America ever saw this version. Even in current releases; the Taco Bell version was only released in the US.

There´s a lot of fun facts about this movie once you dig in a little bit. For starters, this movie was heavily inspired by the book "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. This is clearly referenced in two ways with Lenina Huxley, who´s named after Aldous Huxley himself as well as Lenina Crowne, one of the main characters of that story. Not only that, but Simon Phoenix quite literally yells it out to Spartan when they fight in the museum: "Such a BRAVE NEW WORLD! Sorry you gotta go!" Another thing worth mentioning is that Edgar Friendly was originally named Thomas Payne after the writer and philosopher Thomas Paine who wrote books like "Common Sense" and "The Rights of Man" and who´s writing and ideals helped spark the American Revolution with his ideals now considered Classical Liberalism, which is quite clear when you listen to Friendly´s speech in the movie (which in my opinion is one of the greatest speeches ever to be put on screen when it comes to individual liberty). To finish this up, I´d consider this movie to genuinely be one of the smartest "dumb" movies ever made since it not only got so many things right about the future (with things like dumb food regulations, using computers to boost self-esteem, dumbed-down language etc.) to the very thought-provoking themes throughout the entire movie.

Timothee, do you remember how Simon Phoenix says "Is it hot in here or is it just me?" and "I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached." at the beginning of the movie? At the end of the movie John Spartan says, "Is it cold in here or is it just me?" And you see Spartan kick Phoenix when he turns to ice and he loses his head! Anyway, It's always strange to hear him say Pizza Hut when I grew up watching him say Taco Bell. I heard some people thought this was a mandela effect until I found out their are different versions made. And Timothee, the Rambo movies are great! I've got to warn you that Rambo 4 and 5 are very bloody. Great stories and action of the entire series for the character Rambo though.

Trivia: One of Jack Black's 1st movies. In Europe Pizza Hut replaced Taco Bell and they used CGI to replace Taco Bell with Pizza Hut. In the deleted scenes they show Spartan's daughter who was apart of Edgar's crew. Joel Silver is the producer is in this movie which is why the poster to Lethal Weapon 3 is in the movie. As far as SNipes movie's go, New Jack City, Passenger 57 and White Men Can't Jump are some of his best movies. Stallone's best movies start in the 70s ( ROcky, Nighthawks), then movie into the 80s (More Rocky's, Rambo, Tango and Cash) and continue in the 90s (Demolition Man, Cliffhanger, Assasins, Copland). One thing about Stallone is that not only is he a good actor but he's a hell of a writer and a good director as well.

29:25 "Why so much Spanish, it seems kind of random?" Because it's LA. Almost everyone in So Cal speaks at least a little Spanglish. That's why a non-Spanish speaking, 100% white girl like me may greet a close coworker with " Buenos días mija!" Spanish words/phrases just filter in over time and we weave them into everyday speech, the same happens with English and Spanish speakers.

That was the 90s in the action movies, they exploited and demolished real buildings for movie scenes, they did the same in Lethal Weapon 3, in Enemy of The State and Spy Game, where they also demolished real buildings, impressive those scenes, today it is unthinkable that they make scenes like that again because they are very expensive.

Timothee, as for Jackie Chan movies you've got to see Rumble in the Bronx, Supercop, Jackie Chan's First Strike, Operation Condor, Mr. Nice Guy, Who Am I, The Tuxedo, The Medallion, Rush Hour trilogy and Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights! If you're limited and can't react to all of them I'd start with Rumble in the Bronx first! That's the movie that started my love for his martial arts movies! He does his own stunts and please react to the bloopers at the end of his movies too!

Great movie. You should also see Westly Snipe in Passenger 57 and Blade Fyi In the Us version of the movie it is Taco Bell instead of Pizza Hat . Since is Taco Bell is not that common in Europe :). Fyi Arnold Schwarzenegger and Stallone were kind of competitors in the 80s and 90s that is why they make fun of each other in their movies like Stallone joking about Arnold in this movie:). Great Stallone movies you should see are Cobra, The Specialist, Cop Land , Lock Up, Judge Dredd. Sandra Bullock movie you should see is The Net and The Vanishing (Which she has a small role)_.

I liked the scene where Phoenix was discovering that you can't use curse words anymore when he was at that information machine. I got a movie reaction suggestion for you. It's one of my favorites. The Final Countdown (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz. It's like Top Gun meets Back to the Future.

A few times they did different versions. Here one for Europe with Pizza hut. In Gremlins 2 there is the theatre release version with with a Hulk Hogan scene where he watches the movie in a theatre, while on video you got one with John Wayne.

I can't believe this movie is 30 years old now... Be well, I guess. and originally, it was Taco Bell, not Pizza Hut that won the franchise wars. why they changed it, I'll never know.

It’s Taco Bell in the Original US version. It’s always been Pizza Hut in several overseas versions because Taco Bell was unknown outside the US, but Pizza Huts could be found overseas.

17:38- yeah in the US it's Taco Bell instead of Pizza Hut(I had most of the set of limited edition commemorative glass cups when it came out.)

32:15- yes Jackie Chan is absolutely worth watching; I personally recommend the the Rush Hour trilogy he did with Chris Tucker (everybody loves them, and other people's reactions to them tend to do pretty well.)

Taco Bell isn't as popular outside of the US. So they changed it to Pizza Hut as it is a better known Yum! Brands restaurant.

You watched the international version with Pizza Hut dubbed / photoshopped in. That's what I saw growing up in the Philippines on HBO Asia. I never saw the original Taco Bell version til I came back to the US in the mid 00s. I wasn't 100% sure what was dubbed but as a kid I could tell it was dubbed just seeing Cocteau's mouth when he invites them to dinner.
