I have had the privilege of working at the GM Tech Center in Warren Michigan and this is an excellent picture of some of the stuff they usually hide. You can see many car company departments that do not exist anymore like Pontiac, Saturn (I think), and Oldsmobile (In the background) with many that GM still sells. Some of the cars are strange, I can understand why they are only concept cars but some are a work of art. This was a rare treat Thank you

1993, 30 years ago. For those of you who are (also) fuzzy about what that was like. Other movies released that year: Jurassic Park, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Fugitive, Schindler's List, Cliffhanger (also Stallone), Sleepless in Seattle, Addams Family Values, Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness, Boiling Point (also Wesley Snipes), Dazed and Confused, Falling Down Beavis & Butthead, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Animaniacs, The Late Show with David Letterman, and The X-FIles had their TV debuts. Baywatch was in it's 3rd season. Seinfeld was in it's 4th season, I think. Music Billboard Top 20 singles of 1993: 1 "I Will Always Love You" Whitney Houston 2 "Whoomp! (There It Is)" Tag Team 3 "Can't Help Falling in Love" UB40 4 "That's the Way Love Goes" Janet Jackson 5 "Freak Me" Silk 6 "Weak" SWV 7 "If I Ever Fall in Love" Shai 8 "Dreamlover" Mariah Carey 9 "Rump Shaker" Wreckx-n-Effect 10 "Informer" Snow 11 "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang" Dr. Dre 12 "In the Still of the Nite" Boyz II Men 13 "Don't Walk Away" Jade 14 "Knockin' da Boots" H-Town 15 "Lately" Jodeci 16 "Dazzey Duks" Duice 17 "Show Me Love" Robin S. 18 "A Whole New World" Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle 19 "If" Janet Jackson 20 "I'm So Into You" SWV I have four CDs with songs from the list, but I don't want to admit to one of them.

Until I watched this, I had no idea that it was filmed literally where I was trained and interviewed by State Farm, for years (Irvine, California). I also went there to attend some training for Travelers insurance years before that. I have literally walked past this spot and always thought it looked really familiar, just couldn't put my finger on it. That building was where I discovered how much I did not like working for insurance companies and lead to my current path in photography and video production. You just assume growing up here that everything is filmed in LA.

32:17 - The color bars rainbow here is caused by the fact that the color bars signal was recorded to tape first. Then someone backed up the tape and crash recorded a new signal on top of the old. Since the erase head in the VTR is located further down the tape path, it takes time for the "erased" video tape to wind its way through past the helical record heads. You can see the bars disappear from top to bottom as the tape makes its way through the tape path.

31:35 - A state of the art Sony 3-Chip CCD BetaCam SP camera. This analog camera captured the digital equivalent of 720x486 at only one fixed frame rate of 29.97 interlaced. With the lens and battery this would be close to $100,000 in 1990's dollars. Something similar to this was used to capture the video you are watching. However, you are only seeing 720x240 as someone deinterlaced the original by throwing away half of the vertical resolution. Also, you are watching an analog window burn dub of a selects reel (another dub). The camera could only record to 20 or 30 minute video tapes (typically 20 min to reduce dropouts).

It's so funny in the film these were all nearly silent... assuming they were supposed to be electric cars, but some of these and this video where obnoxiously loud which must have been a pain in the ass to deal with from a technical standpoint with their location audio. There must have been a lot of ADR... and a lot of them being pulled or pushed manually which actually is evident in the video.
@judgedrekk2981
@judgedrekk2981 Год назад
they went in and removed the sound from the filming process then had the actors do ADR [additional dialog recording] and did foley [that's creating ambient natural sound effects] as well as added some digital sounds when needed and added the score, you didn't hear music in this did you? naww lolz I'm having a laugh but that is what they do in the post processing phase and it's why often the sounds cars make in a movie sounds way different, they might use a lesser car like a stock Mustang right then record all the sounds from a highly tuned mustang to get the best sound and insert that in, which they'd record the car driving past at different speeds to get the drive by effect and they'd put a mic on the outside of the car to get the engine sound as it's driving eh but then they'd make the cockpit silent so you get dialog lol movie magic man
