Rubinstein’s operatic masterpiece is based on a poem depicting the isolation and despair of a fallen angel. Premiered to great acclaim in 1871, Demon received its first fully staged U.S. performances at Bard in 2018. With rich choral writing and a fiery libretto, the production was staged by Thaddeus Strassberger and featured an all-Russian cast, Pesvebi Georgian Dancers and The American Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Botstein.

Нет ничего лучше, чем запись оперы,, Демон,, от 1956 года с Ивановым(Демон) и Козловским(Синодал). Это непревзойденный вариант исполнения - и музыка, и голоса! Хотя, очень хорошо, что столь яркая опера(но очень трудная для исполнителей) не забыта и возрождена, в т.ч. и Мариинским театром(концертное, но великолепное исполнение)!

Много вопросы к исполнению роли Тамары….Один из вопросов заключается в том ,что почему певица с самого начало поёт не по нотам и фальшиво …..

The only (almost) uncut recording of this fascinating opera. But the vocal performance is questionable, the stage noises during the ballet are really annoying and a mono recording in 2018 is ridiculous.

It's a live performance...the stage noises are part of the excitement of the dance...much better than having the cast stand there and wait for the ballet to conclude!
