The real thing yeah he was using a flat head and it slipped off closing the core causing critical mass with a blue flash of light and a slight wave of heat killing him with one of the highest rated doses of radiation ever
@@shaunirwin3807the story is rather dark because doctors kept him alive to study the effects of radiation. He was begging doctors to let him die but they wanted to study him as his body fell apart and shut down.
Context: The demon core was a plutonium core for the little boy and fat man bombs that was recovered and tested on. There were 2 people that were killed by the demon core with more injured by both sections of it colliding and producing what witnesses called “a flash of blue light” which was the radioactive reaction that caused the nukes to explode. The second person (whose name I forgot) was reckless with the demon core. He did stuff like wear shorts in a radioactive space and as referenced in the short, only used a screwdriver to hold the sections apart. It slipped and he quickly hit the top core off, but the damage was already done. Within the 5 seconds of the reaction, happening he was dosed with a fatal amount of radiation and died around 2 days later in the hospital.
21 dead actually in similar ways across laboratories. also that one demon core killed more than 2, first time it killed scientist and later security guard who was readin newspaper, than sec time immediatly killed dude with screwdriver and similar way killed later in time other people who where in room
It wasn't recovered from Little Boy and Fat Man, it was just an unused core because Japan surrendered before the US loaded it into a third bomb, additionally, the core was more like the design of Fat Man than Little Boy, as little boy was more or less just a giant gun
It was actually an unused core for a third bomb. When we didn't need that core it got used in criticality experiments and killed 2 people who were as Dr. Fermi put it "Tickling a sleeping dragon's tail."
The lines would be vertical and not that intense and why would you keep a demon core in a rubbish 3d printed effort , On the other hand as a skit it's not bad but un realistic
This video and comment section have so much enthusiasm and absolute ignorance about how and why the demon core event worked. Dropping it wouldn't detonate anything, the lid and base were not plutonium, and were instead neutron reflectors. The ball of plutonium was Not super critical on it's own (though it would be pretty dangerous to be around) and without the lid it could not sustain a fission reaction.
