Demon Hunter came out swinging against the current political climate. Those of us who don't fit in with the current culture are being demonized, silenced, canceled, and hated. This song just became our anthem!
Silence the world, you MUST listen and review! DH was my gateway into metal with their first album in 2002 and I've never looked back. Love these guys.
I can definitely understand that since this is for sure a different sound for them, especially after their last couple of albums. They went from super polished to super crazy! Lol But I have a feeling there will be some more balanced tunes on the new album. If there's one thing Demon Hunter does best it's having a great balance of a lot of different elements 👌
i liked it at first, liked it more after a few listens :P i am glad when bands aren't afraid to step outside of tiny lil genre boxes. demon hunter has always been artistic. i can't wait to hear what else they've got coming
Wow, now I'm even more excited for it! 🔥 Well they definitely started that off well! *side note, I just saw a star wars storyline youtube video covering the prequels, and I was actually really surprised at how much the storyline mirrors a lot of what we are going through. How a Democratic Republic becomes a "galactic empire" or in other words a universal government with one ruler for the sake of keeping the safety, peace, and order. Interesting parallels that I hope we can learn from, especially in the government accepting "emergency powers" that they would willingly give up once the "threat" was over (which didnt happen in star wars lol) ... anyways, sorry for the rabbit trail 😅 Totally excited to hear more from the DH album 🔥
I watch a little bit of Doug Wilson. I regularly listen to and watch a few others like Ruslan KD, Allen Parr, a little bit of Apologia Studios... all great perspectives. 👍
Great vid man! I've always loved Demon Hunter. They've been a huge influence on my faith. This song instantly made it on my 'I hate the Anti-Christ' playlist
Thank you so much 🙏 And that's awesome! I need a Playlist like that! Haha You should definitely have Memphis May Fires "The Enemy" on that Playlist too 👌
The basic thing to know about Demon Hunter is that they have never made a Demon Hunter song that sounds like another Demon Hunter song. That's ultimately the reason why people always recommend Demon Hunter when asked for a song that fits a certain genre -- they've done every genre. They've done black metal, punk rock, piano acoustic, death metal, and literally spaghetti western (When The Devil Comes). They are unappreciated masters who get unfairly stereotyped as the Five Flavor Fruit Punch of Christian metal.
Spitting Facts, they are definitely Master Musicians and Songwriters and that makes total sense, you can't put them in a box because they've done a little bit of everything. 🔥
✝️ This is sick, wicked, brutal and out of sight. Oh my goodness, is it ever.yessssss i am loving this new demon Hunter song and video. You got that right I'm hyped up for their new album exile to come out, I truly do hope they put a deluxe edition out too.
Good breakdown on the song dude! They're not necesarrily a "political" band but Ryan nailed the lyrics, the second verse especially. The song is so crunchy. When I heard it the first time i had to listen to it twice in a row. So good. And I like how you breakdown the lyrics and to how poignant they are now., Keep up the good work and God bless!
true they are not but they are Devoted Christians and lot of their songs do have some true political connotations in them, and this song is a great example with how the world is now sadly
@@danielcook7975 Yeah, some topics you just can't touch on without them being related to politics in one way or another. Didn't feel great about mentioning politics in my reaction just because I don't want my channel too much about that, but you kinda have to mention something with a song like this haha
@@sanctifystudios sigh, gonna say it again, but totalitarianism by definition means everything is covered, and since it's humanism we're fighting, literally every aspect of life becomes a matter of human/public policy and public policing. they make everything 'political' :\
For more context on Freedom Is Dead and the Exile album, I encourage you to watch the Jamey Jasta and Revolver Magazine interviews with Ryan Clark. It’s over 2 hours of really good content, and Ryan gives great answers. I’ve read other reviews on Freedom Is Dead and their conclusions were like yours that leaned toward the current political climate, most likely because the words “freedom is dead” are in the lyrics. In my experience, many Americans have an increasingly dim view of their freedoms, and ironically, they have the freedom in America to say that freedom is dead without any repercussions, and you have the First Amendment freedom on RU-vid to publicly agree and then continue to freely exist on the platform, which is the purpose of the First Amendment. Are there examples of our freedom being encroached upon by our ever-expanding government? Yes, but to say our freedom is dead because of one administration’s recent actions and not considering the actions of government over the last 100 years isn’t accurate, in my opinion. The overarching concept of Exile, according to those interviews, is social media and it’s influence over our society. Ryan even said he hoped for a mass exodus away from social media because of the problems it has caused. Now, add this context to Freedom Is Dead and the lyrics. Yes, the political conclusion can still be drawn, but now it’s not a political party’s or a President’s actions that have caused freedom to die, it’s society’s infatuation with and dependence on what their social media sources say about politics and freedom and fashion and music and food and religion and crime and self-image and on and on. This is a much more sinister way to kill freedom than a mask mandate because literally hundreds of millions of people are technologically addicted and distracted. The other songs from Exile also have a similar underlying message.
"If you happen to find yourself in a Christian metal forum, you will likely find Demon Hunter is right at the top of recommendations.... just under Skillet". Say whhhaaat? Skillet is metal? JK. Good video man.
😅 I guess it depends on who and what age you're asking, I've heard some people say Skillet is metal lol, and to a degree I'm sure it's all subjective, I still catch myself saying "screamo" music when I guess screamo is a specific genre now... I'm just gonna say Jesus Music from now on to be safe 😅👍
while it's still very christian I'm pretty sure this current album or at least this single is based off a comic the lead singer is writing. I'm getting the comic at some point, my brother got me the exile deluxe CD which it comes with.
That's gonna be so cool! And that can totally still coincide with their Christian message...like Narnia, or even politically like Star Wars... I love when history or even the present is "present"ed 😏 through entertaining stories 🔥
@@sanctifystudios oh yea for sure. these guys have always been the best honestly, because they're not afraid to try new things. it's really kinda rare to see a band that really understands that they're their own band, not our band. however while doing so, they still try their best to keep things fresh and bring a powerful message that could be for anyone. it's honestly really fascinating
