Does killing Ostrava mess up any achievements or storylines? Edit; Did this on RPCS3 already, tricky if you're not used to spamming push/kick, don't forget to lock on and move to the opposite angle that you want him in order to push him out of the way of the balistas.
@@rasta7655 You know...it's the same here in the States as well. Just don't try rolling with your new PS5 in your inventory. I'm afraid you will be fat rolling as the damn thing weighs 10 pounds.
8:22 regarding the lava river: using the Water Veil spell *before* entering the lava makes you way more resistable. I picked up every single item in there in one run without dying with this method. You may also use the ring that gives more fire resistance!
it s also pretty easy when you kill invaders. don t always need to cheese stuff, i did everything on my own it feels just a lot better and like a real achievment.
It’s also easy if you kill red phantoms as a blue phantom. So you should place down your blue summon sign right at the bottom of the stairs in front of old monk. So it’s usually a 2v1 and makes it easy or at least easier. The only thing is that you have to be the one to kill the boss/invader.
@@jica2295 bro u don t rly need a buddy to complete platinum for this game, it s honestly pretty easy. Only DarkSouls 1 was easier than DS out of the soules games
I can confirm that this still works 100% as of June 23rd 2021. I did it on a SL10 character. Although, be warned. It is MUCH harder than shown on the video. Basically in the first room, no matter if you cleared the debris or not, he can randomly attack and one shoot you. Also, the control of the headbutt was very hard for me. I would constantly miss or punch him. If you manage to get him into the bridge though, he will not attack you no matter what. It took me like ten tries but eventually did it. If you somehow manage to drop to your death with him like I did, don’t worry. You find all his equipment on the room he initially was. Good luck.
@@zephyrmeridian9398 Unfortunately no, he won’t follow you that far. That’s why you have to headbutt him all the way. The door that leads from the room to the bridge is the trickiest part.
You are right bro! It is super hard it took me about 10 attempts as he kept randomly attacking, but finally got it and if you miss a head butt he starts walking past you and going back so costs you a few seconds per miss. But overall it can still be done. Glad you said it was still possible as I was gonna give up lol. Now I made the mistake of being a woman so can't use the armour lol 🤣 all that effort for nothing 🤣
maaaaan i was outside of the tower and he started to walk back. i opened up inventory and this fucker ran out of the room and slapped me. i was a good bit off the steps and everything. i don't know if i have the patience for this lol
@@vincentbruh6787 this is the most obvious answer, since the game is literally a 1:1 remake, I can wait to play it in year or so. I usually wait to see how the new consoles hold up before I buy one, the library is rounded out, prices sometimes drop and kinks are worked out of the system design.
@@Jeffmetal42 yeah, I learned from my friends' mistakes back in 2006, spending all their money on a 360 only to get the Red Ring of Death. NEVER buy the first generation of the next generation of consoles.
@@rebuz87 That was back then. If everyone used your logic. They would never fix or solve issues. If you want others to test before you? That's fine but in order for a product to succeed someone has to buy it else it won't sell, it'll fail, and guess what? Your bugs won't be fixed. So instead of encouraging people NOT to buy a product you want to buy in the future. It would actually benefit you if more of us bought it. Think about that next time.
This is definitely my favorite demon's souls remake beginners guide. I got everything mentioned in the video. And right now I’m 22 vitality. 18 intelligence. 22 endurance. 22 strength. 14 dexterity. 20 magic. 20 faith. 8 luck. SL 66
Lock on to the king and keep a safe distance as you back down the stairs in the 1st room wait until he walks halfway down the stairs and then starts to head back before you try to approach him to start hitting him ( The key here is to stay as close as possible to him without him swinging at you). If he starts to walk back to the start point before getting to the stairs he will still attack you. If you start Hitting him and he doesn't do anything to you you're good. It should take about 10 minutes to punch him from one side of the wall to the other. If he dies mid fall (my run did) just reload your save and go back to his spawn location, all the items will be there
@@grunt8286 If they did it's very recent as I just did this roughly a month ago. I let him walk all the way to the mini stairs right outside that room and once he did I could then head butt. It is a bit finnicky. Just keep trying and you will get it.
I’ve watched a lot of tips and tricks videos but I have to say this is possibly the best one by far man. That’s a bunch of tips and tricks all packed into one short and sweet video. Hats off to you.
7/4/21 - This still works. Note that for the king, you need to bait him down the first bridge and THRU the little building with all the furniture. Bait him to just outside of this little building and onto the next bridge and as soon as he starts his backing up animation, get on the other side of him and start headbutting - he will no longer attack you.
@@adamnewman48 It was a month ago that I posted this but I'd be surprised if it was patched. After following the video, I wasn't sure it was possible anymore, but once I adhered to the rules outlined in my post above, it worked.
Playing Demon Soul’s on the PlayStation 5 with really good headsets is like a dream come true!Especially in a dark room, it’s like you have your own personal movie theater.
@Andrew Kleinert I use the Hyper X Cloud Alpha S headset. It comes with a 7.1 surround sound adapter. It also comes in black, blue, or red. It's currently on sale on Amazon for 80 bucks (originally 130)
Just started my 2nd playthrough. There's a blessed mace +1 in 5-1 that stacks with regenerator's ring and adjucator's shield. Great starting weapon if you're doing a faith build.
@@luisechevarria6930 One of the major criticisms I've heard levied at these books is that people call Kvothe a "Mary Sue", which I find completely unfair. Part of the point of the character is that he builds himself up to be a "Mary Sue" to outside appearances, to appear extremely powerful and such, but actually struggles and fails a lot, people just don't hear about those as often.
Just finished my first run through as a temple knight, and I’m doing pretty terribly on New Game + but this video has really spurred me on to play more!
They are, it's just a shame that Rothfuss is basically a second GRRM at this point as far as finishing a book is concerned... The best book series is kinda pointless if the author can never be bothered to finish it.
This video has been the most help. Took some practice, but I managed to head butt the King off the stairs. However, his loot was floating midair in the stair shaft. Couldn't get it. I ran back to get the sword but the loot was still floating. If you run into that, just save and exit to the main menu and return to his throne room place and the loot will be there on the floor.
Thank you so much for this ✨PHENOMENAL✨ beginner’s guide! I cannot tell you how much frustration this saved my twin and me when we were starting out! Happy 2023, and thank you for your immense efforts in producing such wonderful and informative content! 🥳
I followed the tips in this video and I am enjoying the game more than I have on any other souls game. I feel like a bad ass running through the levels as a mage using Cresent Falscion. Thx!
This is a huge problem for me. I need this video to enjoy the game. Why can't I enjoy it on my own? As someone said these games are not hard if you know how to play them. Well, god damn, can I play it to learn how to play it?! And now when I saw this I am thinking of stopping cause I skipped the part where I take a lot of gear on 1-1.
If you end up doing that build guide video, I’d love to see one based around the Moonlight sword. Found it the other day, and it’s moveset and looks are on another level.
Can confirm the headbutting/punching still works as of today - June 19, 2022. Did it on the first try. Although, as others have said, his loot was floating in the air about 20 feet above the tower floor. A quick ‘Save & Exit’ solved it. The armor loot spawns near the sword in the mausoleum.
@@lucasalexander7382 It works just tried today. Its more like he doesn't strike you right away. As soon as he starts walking back you have to headbutt him and continue like so in the video.
I may try this after I finish my first clear. The idea of headbutting someone across the ramparts and down that damned stairwell sounds very entertaining. As always, great video Vaati.
for anyone that already passed the bridge and the dragon wont leave the cliff anymore, there is another way. just get close to the right wall on the cliff until the dragon makes his flamebreath in front of you. Look carefully if he is making his flamebreath close to the wall. Wait just before he want to start the flamebreath and run to the ring beside his flamebreath. If you timed it correclty, he will not be able to hit you and u just need to watch out the tail of the blue dragon. the red dragon doesnt hit you anymore if you are too close to the blue dragon
Glad you mentioned "name of the wind". The series it's part of "the kingkiller chronicles" will be finished right after "winds of winter" by George r.r. Martin.
This video was so helpful! I started to play in February and today I finally got my Crescent Falchion! Now, with it, I can reach Adjudicator before Christmas!!! =D
@@CAMSLAYER13 Wise Man's fear is a great book, highly recommend you give it a go, a book to get lost in. The worst part of it is that Rothfuss takes a long time to write the next book in the series lol
Thanks to this game I started playing all from software games. I’d really wish is Miyazaki would use bluepoint games for their technical prowess , while from software can focus on level design and world building
2011 since wise mans fear came out, my hype has been dimmed for sure, particularly because that book is supposed to finish a trilogy and be a pre-cursor to a larger series of novels.
Just completed from 2nd attempt, not easy to do head kick however, once you are on the bridge it takes you around 5 minutes to get used to it and get him to the right direction. His loot stuck in the air for me and I was not able to loot him however, simply died from falling and once returned to his room his loot was waiting me there. Thank you so much for this guide!
Pro Strat for killing the guy holding the armor set (as of 16.03.22) he might get stuck in the room leading to the ramparts, if you heal, his "chase" will override his retreat and you can get him to chase you out of the front door to where he won't damage you, lock on and headbutt from there
I also found out that you can headbutt the old king from one of the open spots right on the way to the tower on the right. He will fall there and then walk off some stairs. You can save yourselves a few minutes then.
Started my demon souls journey not too long ago and came to this vid 🎉. If you chose a female character do not fret about the kings armor. Just get around 25k souls with the farming method and Change your body type via the statue of reflection in the nexus. You’ll be able to equip the armor after
Pick up the way of kings in the meantime, it has better world building than the name of the wind, but the atmosphere in the name of the wind is better imo.
I just started the game and it is my first soul game. Came here after keeps on dying on the first boss. This video does help but at the same time I got overwhelmed as well.
@@FatGunnerForLife you can stunlock him with the dragonbone smasher (just R1) but it takes much time cause you deal only 25 each hit but at least he can't kill you if you have good timing
@@City_Lights. It took me a few tries and its tricky as hell to pull off...nowhere near as easy as the narrator makes it seem in my opinion. But like he says in the video the trick is getting Doran to walk back to his crypt, and afterwards headbutting/kicking him...he should be kind of locked in this defenseless "state" where he doesn't hit back or react at all, and where he's trying to slowly walk back to his crypt. I was able to headbutt steer him all the way to the tower for him to fall to his death just like in the video.
@@ThePokestopPapi thanks, I actually just got it. It still works, the trick was to get down the timing on the headbutts. Your right is not as easy as the video suggests.
@@City_Lights. Congrats my man! Glad to hear you were able to get it down. Yes the headbutt timing is a bit tricky...the hardest part was being able to pull it off consistently imo. Welcome to the cheeze club :)
Anyone know if it still works just bought this game after beating elden ring several times. This is my second souls game after elden ring and was watching the video but wanna make sure it works before I try getting the armor and the best sword in the game does it matter if you are female or male character for armor and weapons this game seems to be different than elden ring so just have alot of questions. I wanna get started playing this game in the next couple days
Can confirm the headbutting thing works as of February 2024. The timing seems to be flick the stick forward and R1 exactly the same time and there’s a slight “reset of animation” with your toons right foot (hard to explain but probably obvious once you see it)
I did this last night, clear all debris from room and the path you’ll guide him through. Once you get out of the small room it gets easier to take him to the fall. Trust me you’ll get the hang of it. It took me about 5 or 6 attempts. Great video!
It’s amazing isn’t it. I was lucky enough to have one launch day but have just started playing through on NG+ and it still blows me away. A thing of beauty
@@jonospencer505 Wow, the exact same with me. Just today beat the last of the bosses and should have the platinum by the end of NG++! The difficulty jump was pretty intense, but it just reminded me of how much I enjoy these games. Fuck Flameluker and Maneater though, they’re the exception
Sound design is also amazing. Magic has this super powerful sounding impact, explosions have a real thud to them, and deflects sound absolutely brutal.
Ngl this guide is super unclear and has way to under detailed explanations and instructions. I know this video isn’t exactly a deep dive on everything that it touches up on. But playing through demons souls for the third time and knowing how hard it was as a new player, I would not recommend this guide if you’re playing demons souls for the first time. Now don’t get me wrong, for more experienced players, this guide is probably a life saver. Gets straight to the point and the whole thing shouldn’t take long considering you know where all the traps he doesn’t mention are and all the enemies he doesn’t tell you about. I had a fun time using this guide but I definitely could understand some of the frustration that some newer players might be feeling. I am not a professional demons souls player nor am I a guide critic, I am simply stating my opinion that in the end doesn’t mean anything to anyone unless someone reads it. And again, I very much enjoyed this guide and my views and opinions should not stop anyone from using this guide. In fact I would like to encourage people to use this guide. Just be a little more cautious in some of the higher level areas.
Patrick Rothfuss is such a great author; I have Name of the wind in paperback and hardback (I'd lost my old copy for a bit while moving and bought the hardback lol)
Still works as of April 2nd, 2024, got it on my second try, instead of beinging him all the way to the staircase I just popped him off the hole of the side of the bridge, he drops down and went to find his way back and fell down there, not sure if that works everytime tho may need to bring him to the staircase
This was happening to me too. Took a min to figure out. You have to get him to walk towards you until he stops to go back. Then you can headbutt him without him hitting you.
He'll sometimes fake you out by starting to back away BEFORE actually being on his return trigger. That trigger is almost at the door leading out of the first tower nearest his mausoleum, so if he starts backing away near or before the middle of the room he MIGHT just be backing up in his goofy meandering combat pattern.
Ok! I just figured it out today! Lock on him, follow him slowly with shield raised and lead him through the building, the closer the better. Then you have to get him to leave the building just passed the steps before he walks back. If he turns back in the building, it’s a trap! Now the tricky part is when he turns back for real you have to start hitting him before he gets close to exiting back out the other door. If he’s near the threshold in the building hill start attacking. If he’s in the right state you can punch him normal and it’ll be fine, he just doesn’t stagger as much and you run outta stamina. You’ll find the hard part is getting him to go in the last building and then to get down the stairs. And if your like me and he takes you with him. His stuff will be waiting next to the sword we’re he started.
C Marino right! You ether don’t have him coming out the room far enough or your not punching him soon enough before he goes out the room from the other side. Even If you pull him onto steps going out side it’s not far enough. I probably wasted an hour or two and watched a number of videos of ppl doing it, when you see it enough you get a better feeling of when he’s gone far enough to trigger the real walk back.
Anyone who is having difficulty & wants to melee... try out the winged spear. you can attack WHILE still blocking. once you upgrade the weapon you can kill the red eyed knights in a handful of hits while also keeping your shield up to block.
I just started today, and the Old King Doran cheese still works. I suggest getting him to follow you onto the bridge, and out of that corner room before you start to hit him. Stay out of his hit range, but close enough he follows you onto the bridge. When he turns around, get around him, and start hitting him. This was difficult, until I did this
Finally got my ps5 gow bundle and first game I went to was demon souls, thank you very much for this guide as it has made the 10 hours aimlessly wondering worth it now that I can restart with a purpose in mind for a build
Found an even easier way for King Doran: Just poison him! I walked in so I was close enough to cast the spell. He didn't move at all. Life ticked down in 10min, he died and I simply picked up the armor and sword.
Thanks so much for this guide, Vaati! I eventually had to give up on the King Doran strat (I cannot for the life of me figure out how to consistently headbutt), but the Crescent Falchion (scaled with my magic build) and Dragon Longsword are insaaaaaaane
Welp, I finally played this blind, and it's nice to see that the two weapons I used the most (Dragon Longsword and Crescent Falchion) are so highly recommended.
@@pollux901 Yeah he just so happened to doa completely blind playthrough, and use the two exact weapons that were in this video. Then decided to comment on the video stating "Oh wow what a coincidence lol" I'll judge all I want.
I can confirm that it actually (26/12/2021) works 100%. The punching phase is a little bit tricky but I must confess I did it on my first try, just spent 10 min aprox to carry him to the stairs and kill him. One appointment is that in the first room, even if there're no destructibles he can attack you, be careful and prepare to evade anytime, once out of the first room it's matter of time and knuckles xD
Lol I did the kick trick later on in the game, I already got up to Alant but I needed to get this sword. Thank you Vaati!! You're a gift to the Souls community!
The real trick about Demons Souls is that after every boss the very first thing you need to do is teleport back to the Nexus and suicide by jumping off the stairs. This ensures that you will get pure white tendency in all worlds in one playthrough. For whatever reason going white is limited and only a single death in human form can screw it up entirely, going black on the other hand is super easy and not limited at all.
02:14 It's actually faster to push him down the gap in the crenelations by the blue eyed knight. He will automatically start to walk off a ledge and die. I've done it two times.
Sept 2024! I Just did the King thing! It took me about 1.5 hours and 8 lifes to figure it out, I thought it wasnt possible because of a patch or smth, but it worked 100% after being very persistant. thank you!
could try rpcs3 version thats what im doing, have a ps3 and ds but want to try it upscaled and also easier to re roll saves or copy chars on pc as well. im hoping this does come to pc assuming sony is planning on lifting the exclusivity like they did with hzd.
pious83 True, but since they are sort of hemorrhaging money right now from game sales since people are buying their consoles yet not using them they might change their mind.
@@AnnoyingSquib Yet none of that is reflective of reality. The console is sold out everywhere. One of their most successful launches ever. A Console is worth a lot more than the value of a game. To say they are haemorrhaging money in lieu of that, is asinine. Especially given that even first party games have their own costs to be deducted from each sale. Exclusives have been a thing since the 8 Bit Generation. It isn't something people are going to suddenly consider a bad idea over 30 years later.
11/18/2021 this still works if u can't figure out to head kick u can punch the boss to the location and kill him tho more repetitive and annoying he might swing in room once so be careful of that took me 4 tries currently died getting ring lol
I feel like this is a compact beginner's guide. Knocked out all of the most important early items, noted some upgrade material spots, and included a reliable souls farming spot. Having only played the original it's bizarre seeing all of this with the new graphics haha
@@Pat_The_Artist when he's coming back up the stairs you can make him fall if you trick him in attacking you from a corner without the fence. Works 9/10 for me while the first fall only works sometimes
You gotta clear the rubble in room before engaging boss then walk him to that room and when he goes to walk back to spawn you start doing it it’s super easy
