As with a lot of my recent Demon's Souls lore content, Lokey_DS is a driving force behind the scripts, as he's come up with many innovations in the years since the release of Demon's Souls. For example, I quite like his theory that wyverns terrorized the land in the days of King Doran.. He has an excellent write-up on Boletaria here, if you're interested in learning more: lokeysouls.com/2021/04/13/boletaria/ Also, shouts out to DaveControl, who nailed his analytical take on Boletaria and King Allant: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W9FkTI8iWOg.html
Compared to all the poor Legend of Zelda RU-vidrs - who’ll milk the series dry for even the most insignificant scrap of lore, just to have a continuous uploading schedule for the 6-7 years in between major releases - that’s not too bad xD
@@Oizzy i know exactly who and what youre referring to lol but at least some of them are good and actual lore videos, i like Zeltik lore on BoTW vids more than Vaati. Just find it more interesting.
@@theganjician9272 Eternal Ring videos would be really interesting! I've only ever seen AesirAesthetics talk about that, otherwise I've never seen it mentioned anywhere where FromSoft games were discussed. King's Field is practically mainstream compared to ER. And it's strange, since it has some similarities to both the Field games and the Souls games. Not as similar as Field is to Souls, but you can still see it.
"Prepare thyself, brave kni--wait where are you going? Come back here. Why are you leading me down the battlements? I really shouldn't be descending these stairs, it's a very long way d--AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
I didn't interpret Ostrava's death as him taking his own life. When you find him on the stairs in the King's Tower he says, "My father is up above. Ha ha, well, something like him, anyway." That sounds like he confronted False King Allant and was mortally wounded by the demon. After narrowly managing to escape, you find him dying of his wounds, whereupon he asks you to finish what he failed to do: kill his father. I also interpreted the text on the fat officials' set as meaning that they were partly responsible for turning Allant toward the path of demons -- a bit of a Wormtongue situation. But I like the narrative you weaved around it better, and it makes sense to lay the blame at Allant's feet rather than trying to make his sycophants responsible.
I agree completely. Ostrava was clearly severely injured on the stairs, and while it could have happened on the way between the Penetrator archstone and the King’s throne room, I think it makes more sense to assume that we the player helped him make it there unscathed only to have wounds later on that we weren’t around to help prevent this time. RIP Ozzy
Wow, I didn’t anticipate what Demon’s Souls dedicated photo mode would mean for lore videos. It really boosted the quality and detail. We normally don’t get this level until the PC version is thoroughly hacked/modded.
To be honest, I never got the idea that Ostrava killed himself. He's soaked in blood at the base of the stairs from the hardest boss in the game. I was always under the impression that he died of his wounds after trying to defeat the demon that appeared to be his favor and failing.
Agreed, he was clearly beaten to an inch of his life by the demon incarnation of his father. Though he may have also 'let himself die' after having lost all faith in his father.
Okay so Im playing dark souls 2 and I was wondering what weapon people reccomended for dex builds. I checked reddit and stuff but its mostly people just memeing without any actual information
I got into souls games a year ago. I had no idea that they would mean so much to me. These games are my life now. It ruined a lot of other games now with melee combat
yeah, I used to think games like skyrim were pretty fun...but now having played blood borne, sekiro, and demon's souls, I just can't go back to uninspiring melee combat.
12:14 "Reality is whatever Allant made it, so we see the demons of his imagination." Wait a minute, isn't that the same thing Silent Hill does? Take your fears and your perception of the world, creating physical representations based off of that? Does that mean I walked into Allant's personal Silent Hill?
Now this takes me back. I'm one of those few people that played Demon's Souls before Dark Souls, so it's nice to see it finally getting the widespread love it deserves.
I like that you can get 50% of this story from just playing the game but videos like this piece it all together and really show just how deep and meaningful the backstory can be. You are a master of making videos like this and make me want to replay the game just to piece it together myself.
After playing the remake, I love the souls types games, I’m playing dark souls remastered now but demons souls is genuinely one of my favorite games ever now. I only wish that I could replay it for the first time again, it’s truly a game that has left a huge impact on me
What I’ve learned is that whatever souls game is your first, tends to be your favorite. I started with DS3 and it’s my favorite. They’re all amazing. But when you talk to people, the game they think is best, tends to be the first one they got their hands on. When you finally crack the seal, and envelope yourself into these games(especially with Vaatis help), it changes the way you view video games. They’re truly one of a kind. This remake is unreal though. I’m blown away.
@@rynoman85 yea I definitely think I’m biased towards it 😂 but I really do love it, it was so hard at first but I pushed through and it was so satisfying to beat. I think it’s the best looking game I’ve ever played it really is amazing and I’m excited to play more of the souls games
i just started to play DeS on my pc and it is so athmosferic its nothing like DS in terms of its mood and how you feel playing it and the best of it is the feeling of being a complete noob kile if u r playing your 1st souls game it is just the best souls game ive played dark souls lost a lot the mood of mystery is far more solid in DeS and i am really scared of every enemy cz i cant see them untill they are about to kick my butt with a pickaxe
2:48 I think it's a mistake to call the King himself industrious. They specifically called the KINGDOM industrious. You can have an ambitious King leading an industrious nation. The two go hand in hand actually.
This is literally the most amazing lore of any video game. It's too perfect, and beautiful. It engulfs the player and their experience of the world of Demon's Souls. I just got into it for the challenge, but oh baby this hits different after dying through it a hundred times.
At this point you’re not even a RU-vidr Vaati, the quality of these videos is outstanding. Only got into soulsborne last year now I’ve finished Ds 1,2 & 3 + demons souls and bloodborne and your lore videos compliment the games so well. Bravo sir!
Idk if its just me, but between the expert literature and voice over skill, the large lore knowledge and the dedication to videos and the community these videos really are just the best.
crazy to think you've been making amazing content for almost 10 years, i remember picking up dark souls and just tossing it aside thinking it was just another rpg hack and slash. But then a year later my buddy gets me to play it with him, he explains the lore and the story as he brings me through the entire game. He would make sure to sit down toward the tail end of boss fights to let me finish them off to not make it too easy. Soon after I discovered your vids and now im the biggest fanboy of the soul series. Keep it up !
Man, i know theres other youtubers out there doing the ''same stuff'' you do about FromSoftware games... But you're the only one I find the voice truly enjoyable. This pace, this tone, it's everything I feel about from Software creations. Violent stories of betreyal, sorrow and insanity over a calm and poised voice. Thanks a lot for everything you create and share with us.
Demon's Souls. FromSoftwares underdog, the infamous start of a whole genre - is now the best looking game mankind has ever created up until this point. Marvelous. It does put a smile on my face.
Wow, what a coincidence! I completed demon's souls almost exactly on the same time as you uploaded this video. I didn't understand half of the story, so I went searching on yt! Thanks for the explanation! This one looks even cooler than your old bloodborne videos!
Hello Vaatvidya, I hope all is well to you. I am happy to share with you that I enjoy your channel very much. I have subscribed to your channel since a while ago and noticed significant improvements in your channel. Recently I discovered an unique effect of your videos on me, that is making it easier to sleep. Please note that I am a man in his 30s with sleep disorder, however, whenever I listen to your lore videos, your deep contents and soulful voice make it so easy for me to feel asleep nearly immediately. The discovery was so profounding that now I listen to your videos anytime I want to sleep, even in midday. For that, I thank you deeply. Please keep up the great work.
This video is absolutely amazing. The way you use in-game content like gameplay, photomode and dialogs to visualise your script is spectacular. Thank you for the time you invest in this. Watching it is a real joy
I am pretty sure the addition of the foto-mode in Demons Souls was aimed at content creators like Vaati. So cool to see it used so professionally. So ... could we please have Bloodborne remastered for PC with the same quality and features? Cool, thanks!
Vaati please start uploading more as best you can your videos made me fall in love with the soulsborne series noone explains this lore better then you in my opinion
VaatiVidya bro you honestly need a Grammy for some of these videos if not all of them or an Oscar cus they hit different even more so then some of the best movies I saw 😎💪🏾
Love your videos so much! Would love to see you go back and do more Dark Souls content. I feel like there are so many great stories in that trilogy that never really got the chance to shine/went over many heads including my own.
Wanted to make note that for years I didnt know your channel existed, and that I am relieved to see another gaming channel exists, and a popular one. That loves Vaati. Shoutout to these godly lore vids and the fact that you have great taste in games in general.
Hey vaati. When are you making the Last Maria Prepare to Cry episode? It’s a great story, and it’d be nice to see it sometime this year! Haha. Thanks man.
I really admire the time and love Vati puts into these Videos but it hurts how long it takes. It has helped me to learn how to appreciate his work though. Always going to come running when he uploads though. Vati content can be summarized with a few words at least. “Quality, Educational, Inspired”
I'm loving the way you can use the photo mode to make these more cinematic. But, at least on my end, the audio sounds like it could be equalized better? Your narration is much much louder than the lines from the game characters, so I've been adjusting my volume throughout the video.
I’ve binge watching your videos and now I can’t get enough dark souls my brother played it when I was you and I would sneak and play it every now and then and hated it but now well let’s just say it changed thank you...forgot to say me and my brother are a lot closer now and play a lot more cannot appreciate you enough
The photo mode and the quality of the Demon's Souls remake allowed the production value of this video to really shoot up. The visuals are stunning and I can't wait for more of these videos!
