I absolutely adore sexual designs/content in games. Boobs, basically. But it's so annoying how you can get quality, or you can get boobs. Never both. What is it about boobs that make devs just short circuit and forget to make the rest of the game? That game's music has no right being so awesome though. *Almost* enough to make me wanna play it despite everything else. Almost.
How many times do we need to learn the same lesson that classic fighting game controls don't work in sidescrollers? Now I may just be simple sentient hyper-swan from a backwoods asteroid, but I don't rightly see the fun in having to make one of them thar "SNK pretzels" to do the kind of attacks one can accomplish in other sidescrollers with a simple button press.
This is what you get for playing an East Asiasoft title. Them and Ratalaika are like the bastardized, 21st century versions of LJN. Just got burned on Cyber Mission, which was developed by East Asiasoft and published by Ratalaika. Yeah, the games put out by these two can be cheap and regularly go on sale. No, somehow the shovelware still isn’t worth it.
Ooooh this game. I 100% it out of pure spite because i refused to let it win. Including all the goddamn star enemies (which are actually all complete jokes once you discover their cheese strategies). I think the only thing that kept me sane was the music which went way harder than it had any right to.
i REALLY wanted this to be good. my one an only gripe with Metroidvania games is the combat often boiling down to 1 basic attack for each weapon and maybe some variation for jumping or crouching. Metroidvanias tend to be really lazy on this front despite that fighting is what you'll be doing about 75% of the time in these games. Metroid got away with it because shooting is inherently more engaging because you have to account for bullet speeds and you can aim in multiple directions which gives you alot more to think about but Castlevania only ever got around this by incorporating things like the dive kick, slide kick, and Alucard's spells as well as having SO MANY weapons. do any of you guys know a game that tries this fighting game idea and does it better?
What is it about Castlevania clones that makes them so irresistible that even this absolute dogwater somehow held my attention to the end and i can still tell myself i liked it even tho it was one of the worst games i have ever played?
Now this is a MV I never expected reviewed in any MV channel. Played it some time ago, I was mildly surprised by the game being not that bad, and mildly dissapointed in the low amount of exposed breasts. Also, the guitar solo when entering into "super" mode was great.
igot these the fighting game aspect intrigd me to bad the execution sufers a bit the waljump reminded me of batman on nes for the fighting moves mor similar to mk wood have don these game a huge fafor hop they contenew the seres weth a bether story mabe comic book panels and fuly voiced and for anader rezon to play these game the plat is esy
I enjoyed Owl boy and the Messenger due to their gameplay, art, & stories. Nice to see different attempts at making a vania game. Thanks for the great reviews!!!!
Oh no, you didn't play this cause I brought it up back in your last tier list video (part 14), did you? If that is the case, I'm so, so sorry...though I did leave a warning. If not, my condolences regardless. So, uh, yeah..."Demoniaca". It's definitely a game that exists. The only reason I know about it was cause I was doing some browsing on VideoGamesPlus and saw a physical version up for preorder. Looking it up, I had much the same impression you did, a kinda-sorta blending of "King of Fighters" into a Metroidvania. Combined with what seemed like an edgy exterior, my curiosity was peaked. As soon as I got my copy, I immediately knew what I was getting myself into. The front art of the case, the back art, the start up background art, and title screen art were all different styles. Just a complete lack of cohesion. Truth be told, I didn't finish the game. Not cause I found it too hard...I just lost interest with how tiring the jank was. I somehow popped the platinum half-way (I think) through and just went..."yeah, I've had enough". I managed to sequence break myself into an area with significantly harder enemies and, even after grinding there for like 20+ levels and equipment, the boss of the area there still took me like 30-40 minutes to kill due to how little damage I was doing. Not hard, just tedious. Funnily, because I sequence broke, the boss was angry at me for killing their sister(?) and they wanted revenge...despite them being the literal 2nd boss I ever fought. 1st being the giant snake. Don't know if they were optional or a powered up version of a mandatory boss, but they were annoying as a result. Overall, I don't want to say "Demoniaca" is a bad game...even if I really feel like it. It knows what it is and it revels in how gloriously edgy everything about it is (like genuine edgy, not "a bit dark" edgy most people mean). It had interesting ideas and mechanical concepts. The execution just needed more work and polish...a lot more polish. If you're in the right mood for it...whatever the heck that might be...this could be decently fun just messing around. But otherwise, definitely not for everyone...or even most people.
You must REALLY love metrovanias to actually see this game until the end, because my god, i would have deleted this game right after seeing how long it took to break a wall.....
When a Metroivania fails to make you want to engage with it's combat system is just sad man, fighting game hybrids are certainly doable and is really cool if done right man, Guru suffered through this so we don't have to... mad props. Soundtrack slaps though.
This game was in and out of my wishlist for about 2 years. Finally I decided to really hear the reviews out. There are actual H games with good metroidvania. Like the one by Libra Heart
