Demonic, Exorcism Stories Deliver Terrifying Warning About Dangers of Dabbling in Occult

Exorcism. Possession. Diabolical evil. These themes, which are mainstays in many Hollywood productions, are also deeply rooted in Scripture, with the New Testament highlighting Jesus' ministry of expelling the demonic from afflicted individuals. These are themes at the heart of "The Exorcist Files," a podcast created and hosted by Ryan Bethea. The show is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to fund season two and has blown past its goal.
Bethea told CBN News he initially created the show with a "lighthearted desire to document ... metaphysical phenomenon." "I've always been fascinated with just the idea of ... what are those crazy coincidences, or miraculous answers to prayer, or even just healings," he said. "I don't want to mislead people to thinking that I've seen hundreds of people healed of crazy things, but ... there's a lot of cool things going on that can't be explained in our world."
After meeting some leaders at the Vatican, he said the idea for "The Exorcist Files" was born. He soon met Carlos Martins, a Catholic priest and exorcist who expels evil. Bethea and Martins teamed up, started parsing through Martins' case files, and put the show together. But unlike some Hollywood productions bent on simply scaring people, Bethea said "The Exorcist Files" is quite different. While the show includes dramatic reenactments and guides listeners through some spine-chilling stories, the host said the show has a deeper meaning and intent, especially for Martins.
"This is a very serious, and to [Martins'] credit, he actually was very reluctant to share this," Bethea said. "It was only out of a desire to say, 'Hey, I want to warn people to the dangers of dabbling in the occult.'" Bethea, a Christian, believes in the supernatural, but has a healthy skepticism about possession stories. "I just come out everything very skeptical," he said. "I'm playing the skeptic on the show, which is like, 'Hey, I'm just putting the evidence out there and you can decide whether all these people are making this up or not."

I have…I’ll call it a *close to* unhealthy interest in the supernatural though⚠️so I have to watch myself, stay in the Word, *but* I do think we need to understand what we’re dealing with in the spiritual realm. We need to bring the message about Jesus to the people. I’m a Catholic and I disagree with those who think being a Christian is about social justice, why I disagree with that is because it is mostly communism based not Christ Jesus based. I have spoken with many American Catholics and the Catholic Church in the USA is very different from the Catholic Church I grew up in, in Australia. Cardinal Pell was a great believer in the infilling of the Holy Spirit through the renewal of faith. What is happening in the Catholic Church of America is a travesty. The Catholic Churches in Australia are still packed full with worshippers of Jesus. The one’s that are not full are the ones that don’t teach their faithful who attend each week.

Many years ago, 1974, when I was transferred from USNR active to "active reserve" (weekend warrior) status per USN contract, I for the 1st and only experience with a Ouija board. After that, I immediately threw it in a dumpster at our Apartment complex. I never let myself get near one again.

When I was young, my cousins and I found one in my aunts closet. We played with it one night and it scared us almost to death. We threw it away in garbage. Next day it was in my cousins closet. 😱. We then waited until the garbage man came and threw it into the back and watched as it got crumbled with the rest of the trash. Next day, back in the closet. We told my uncle (a firefighter). That prayer alone doesn’t provide salvation, but it’s a teeny-tiny start. And confessions of sins are necessarily effective when done in the Catholic sacrament of penance (“confession “). ✝️

He's trying to tell atheists and skeptics about the truth so he's saying it from the perspective of the skeptics. When I argue about the existence of God I also say "IF" God exists then...I obviously believe in God. Saying it like that shows you understand their perspective and you're trying to say it in a way that's easier for them to think about. It doesn't mean I'm unsure if God is real.

God gives us knowledge so that we know as much information as possible. There's no opening to something that God has already protected us from. The interview topic wasn’t about Jesus, but *I* heard Jesus mentioned, and furthermore Mr. Bethea identified himself as a Christian. Those of us who know a little bit about exorcisms know that Jesus is repeatedly invoked in them because it’s only with and through Him that exorcisms can succeed.

First things first. These spirits from the dark side are very real, like Ephesians 6:10-18 states. Some of us have accidently brushed, or entertained these unseen deomic forces. Others I am pretty sure on purposely have done so. The great news is JESUS, HEAVENLY FATHER, and HOLY SPIRIT can set the captives free. There is a book He Came To Set The Captives Free. These things are real and unless you have a ministry or calling for deliverance, they are not to be messed with. The occult and dark side is very real.

When I was at church one Sunday. The minister who was a guest at the church said that he was going to display God's love using drinking glasses and a jug of water. he kept repeatedly filling up the glasses from this jug which never emptied. I felt uneasy about this and I noticed that no one else in the church objected. After the service i tried repeatedly to talk with the minister i was blocked several times by church elders from talking with him. Also when I spoke about end times prophecy they got annoyed with me on several occasions.

We don't need preachers who sugar-coat things.❤ Churches who don't preach end times prophecy and preach about Sin (especially the consequences of sin), are the reason why so many Christians are deceived these days. Be aware that the practice of _attempting to communicate with the dead_ is forbidden by God. Imo....telling an unbeliever IF there's a God or IF the Bible is true can communicate a lack of certainty in the person trying to witness to that unbeliever. In the mind of an unbeliever it calls in to question that maybe God and His Truths aren't real, when we know that Jesus Christ is indeed the Way, the Truth and the life. We must stand boldly, in love, in Truth. t's the work of the Holy Spirit that brings forth true salvation, not us trying to talk someone into it.

Hi Bethea, if you want to know about the occult, go and read books written by Rebecca Brown, she has written a few books on her experience as a deliverer and her spiritual battle with people from the Church of Satan. She has passed on a few years and went home to be with the Lord. He surviving husband is continuing on her ministry, maybe you may want to meet him.

There is a danger in watching a show,,podcast or anything about deamons for entertainment. I haven't watched his show so I can't tell if has a setup that I would recomend. I used to listen to alot of bigfoot stories. It didn't feel right so I stopped for a while but than I started again. Intresting , fascinating, scary etc. Then I had a dream of which I'm not going to retell here. But it was; never again. This stuff is really evil, demonic. Not to play around with. All these shows on Tv like ; the unkown. I don't watch any of that anymore. There plenty of demonic forces out in world. You don't need to see these spectacular things to see that. Just look at the culture, politics, professors etc. Be close to Jesus Christ. He is the way.

No, but demonic possession is. I encourage you to get away from that. Jesus can provide you with so much more. He can offer you Love, Joy, and Peace, peace that surpasses all understanding. The Bible says, whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved. I encourage you to seek out the Lord. Only he can fulfill any desires your heart can have. All these paranormal stuff does is just drive you deeper into sadness and grief.
