I built this old shortwave receiver kit in 1959 (I think). I have restored the electronics and am demonstrating its operation and use. Sold by Allied Radio in Chicago in the 50's and 60's.
My dream is to have this very radio, or even a lafayette model that was also regenerative. Thank you so much for showing this. As an avid shortwave listener and DX hunter I find that, from all I've read and the videos that I've seen, that the audio is simply sharper and free of the RF hash and harsh sound that modern receivers have. Certainly it doesn't have the filtering of new radios, but that's the joy, The ability to truly control the regeneration makes for such a pleasant experience and the audio is just so pure.
