This is one of the most underrated action movies. The opening shootout scene was on the level of one of the best action scenes in quite some time. On the level of the freeway Sicaro scene.
It’s a great movie but also watch Heat and you’ll be just as happy if not more! You’ll be able to tell that a lot of inspiration for Den of Thieves came from Heat

Nah ,I definitely got my money's worth . Ppl at the theatre definitely loved it,but I will agree the ending could've better,the stripper scene threw me off.

Ice Cube JR was basically the mastermind behind the entire heist the movie made it look like he is a traitor throughout the heist, all those stories he told Big Nick were all fiction and a set up. Ice Cube JR set up the entire team for death while they did all the dirty work and they all get killed. And Cube JR walked away with the money. I love this movie. now a sequal can be made. Here's a better explantion explained by another youtuber named +Michael Kaszniak Basically O'Shea Jackson Jr's character was behind the entire heist, his bar was close to the Federal Reserve that customers from there would come in and explain crucial details about it. He then got Merrimer to work for him, if merrimer called the shots. He also had the woman(who was flirting with him when he posed as the delivery guy) working for him, along with the two workers at the federal reserve, which is why he got the plans to all the ventilation shafts in the building. He then made sure that the cops would catch him, so he could then cut his ties with his "crew". He and his original crew went off to the U.K. to plan their next heist of robbing a jewelry exchange

You missed the point.Merriman did what he said he would do.Its sad but in this day and age someone literally has to do that.The end of the shootout was sad but believable.Dickheads dont die before they get a chance to shit the bed a hundred or so times in the nursing home.

The movie was completely predictable and but for Pablo Schreiber ( who I never even heard of before this film) I wouldn't have seen it. (You should see him in 13hours and thumper. He can actually act.) The acting was terrible and everything just made no sense. In the end the military trained sharp shooters couldn't kill at least one cop? 😐😐😐 But the cops killed all three of them , c'mon bullshit lol. Movies end like that because they don't like the message it sends when cops start getting killed in abundance in these types of movies. Sends a message .

Alternatively, to 'capture' him, so that he could 'reveal' Merriman's location to the cops. Doing so provides a further distraction while he escapes, and either kills/captures Merriman and his crew.
everyone was in on it. it was a question of who was getting away with the bag. it was a "mob-rob." a robbery scenario where everyone was in on it, theives, police, general public, everyone except the establishment getting robbed itself. i believe the two black guys working in the money-counting room were in on it and the asian security guard working at the federal reserve was definitely in on it, unquestionably.

I think oshae had extra guys in on it like the driver of the trash truck it shows him in london at the end but oshad pretends to stick him up in front of merrimen. Oshae also sold out merriment to big nick hoping he would kill them off and he wouldnt have to deal with merrimen hinself.
Yup. You are right. This video has some mistakes. For instance he says the robber accidentally shot the armored truck guy. It wasn't an accident ... armored truck guy in the 1st robbery goes for his gun. The film shows it twice I think, once in slowmo. Ice Cube's real crew are the ones in the soccer pic. The same ones who are now at the bar with him in London: Oleg, Samoan Guy, UFC guy, and the woman who was eating the week old rotten Chinese food without complaining. Everyone else wasn't part of the real crew but were used as patsies.

You almost got it all right. Only part that was incorrect was they use the money from the stadium robbery in the beginning of the movie to put in the boxes for exchange not money from quicken loans. They say this in the beginning when they have the pallet of $. Something like “this $ is good but it’s traceable, wouldn’t you rather have 30 mill clean” other than that great video!
I'm still confused about.. *Who was driving what rubbish truck? *When was the actual money taken out of the real rubbish truck?? And by whom? *Did Merrimen & his crew never check inside the black bags they ended up with ??
1)The white russian looking guy at the london bar, Alexi. If you rewatched it, youll see there are 2 garbage truck drivers. The one exiting the reserve with the money and the one who got taken over by the main crew. Both drivers were apart of the 2nd team, the Alexi had the money, tipped his hat to Bas(the other driver), then took a right turn instead of a left. Bas replaced him by taking the fake garbage truck down the street where the main team followed it and "robbed" it. 2) Alexi took was the garbage truck with the real money and its assumed he just drove off and packaged the money with the 2nd crew another day. 3) Im guessing they didnt want to rip open the bags cause it would spill, they were in a rush, and/or they didnt expect to be double crossed.

I loved Den Of Thieves that ending though was good in my opinion. All of the guest in the bar were thieves themselves all of them. I liked the ending, my best friend would like the ending of this compared to the ending in HEAT. He hated that ending cause he thought that Robert Deniro`s character should`ve been smart enough to not go back to the hotel to kill the snitch. When he could`ve gotten away with his woman, send in a hit squad to find and finish off dude that snitched on him & his crew. But Den Of Thieves ending was good cause he was smart and got away with it. For once the bad guys win.
What pissed me off is when merriman was giving oshea a lesson in firemams operation. It's like he conveniently forgot that they were all forward-deployed Marines that have seen combat. like why are you going to give him the most basic common sense instructions on a rifle...'Every Marine, is a Rifleman' sorry maybe it's just the grunt in me that was bothered by that scene. Also that intimidation seen before the prom was so cringy and cheesy.
So why didn't the security guy at the end stop the delivery guy when he got the call from the Woman in the break room? He got up with his Walkie Talkie and then we never see him again. Nick winds up stopping the guy.
It's good to see the background characters get the justice they deserve. Throughout the whole movie it was constantly focused on the driver being the snitch, with the background characters not doing much. But in the end the main characters were just pawns of his own scheme. It's similar to usual suspects and I really enjoyed the turn around, only near the end did I start putting the pieces together and realize just before it was revealed that he was the master mind of the whole operation.
Just a minor correction. The money they brought into the reserve ($2.7 mil) with the cart came from the stadium heist of the rave (the only part of that heist shown was when they were cleaning up the money and looking for the dye packs). They didn’t take any money from the Savings and Loan.
There was no need to deliver the old Chinese food. There was no need for the Chinese food, on the day of the heist. He could have left without delivering food.

Actually I think all you are wrong here. He needed to deliver it because he wanted to get "burned" by the lady calling in the guard and then the security reporting to cop stop the guy in red shirt. That way he never makes it to the shoot out with the fake 💰 in saburban to get shot.

If he didnt then the hacker and him wouldve just drove off since the real money was already in their hands. They can just dip on the 1st crew and leave them running with nothing.

So you're telling me they were operators and never thought having an sniper on overwatch? The shootout should've ended with police either dead or wounded and bad guys living for a sequel.
They didn't expect the traffic jam. They thought they were in the clear. Why would they have a sniper watching a random stretch of road? You'd only know where the firefight would be located in hindsight. It would be really awkward if they hired sniper, but he was 4 blocks way because its just randomly guessing where you might get caught outside your plan.

The penning scene was captivating but the stupidest part was merrimen getting mad at the other guy for shooting the armored car security. Made zero sense. Was he not suppose to shoot?
After hearing Gerard say in the trailer “your not the bad guys...we are” I was expecting the twist to be Gerard and his men stealing the money from them at the end. But there was really nothing bad about them....
Another detail missed - Doesn’t the Federal Reserve have to note the serial numbers of the wasted currency before it gets shredded? If he merely bagged up the money from the wheeled in box, those serial numbers have not yet been processed as waste money and therefore trackable as theft?
But its not clear where did the planner and how he transfer the money at the same time he manage to escape from the cops, at the same time that the shredded money and the real money was brought by one of his company, then at the end we saw that the mastermind was concealing the dollar bill inside the rubber well, how he was take the money from the trash, and stole it away from one of his crime partners?
I wanted to like the movie but so many plot holes it was hard to enjoy it. Like Gerard was a great detective but he gets caught cheating by sending the wrong message that’s a rookie move. Also after he realized the wasn’t in the bank how the hell did he know exactly where ice cube Jr was.
Saw Cube Jr. enter the Fed. Res. as delivery guy. After figuring out the bank was a wild goose chase, take their chances at the Fed. Res. First guy they recognize - Cube Jr. "It's clobberin' time" Cube Jr's ass out of frustration

People say “Heat Ripoff”. I say it took what Heat Built and ran with it. The ending standoff of actual brothers having to kill each other VS a cop who gained respect for a criminal’s principles having to kill him. The abject horror of Nick watching Merrimen become what he believes to be a civilian killer; then watching him be subverted by Merrimen’s genius tactical planning and always left wondering…

I knew what I was getting into with this movie so I enjoyed it. I wanted guns and gangsters and I got that. And the twist at the end was pretty good. I wasn’t expecting a tour de force film but I had fun with this.
the directing and suspense build up was definitely there. The ending was a little confusing so I looked up your breakdown. Not bad for 50 cents shot at a movie. well made good cast fairly believable. I feel like there were some elements of a few other movies. All in all it was a decent flick. Kept my attention. Nice breakdown btw it clarified everything I had questions regarding.
i didnt get it at the scene when Donnie was walking out the Federal bank at the end, and the two ladies were complaining about the food, why didnt his team member girl "which we dont know that until the end" didnt stop her friend from calling the security to buy him some time to run away???
Haithere it was all part of the plan so the the bad cop squad could get him; then drive to his fake crew to kill them and switch the money with fake money while the two groups we're fighting
The fake crew never had the real money from the get go you see this when the garbage truck with white guy driving real money leaves and crosses another garbage truck driven by asian guy they make eye contact white gives him the signal to swap routes and the movie was solved from their for me atleast...back to the point though the guard at the front desk works for horsepower the chicks call was a signal to go to next plan and that was to get horsepower caught by the police wich he calls thus how they located him so fast. You can see all the characters of the real crew in the soccer photo shown toward the end and watch for them threw out the movie.
naughts52 yea I was initially confused as to when and how the shredded money happened but then I remembered the trucks. The bad guys hijacked the wrong one. It would've been nice if they had realized the money was no good while trying to get away. Lol

Alex and Bas were the garbage truck drivers(alexi had the money, bas was decoy for the main crew), the flirty girl who consistently ordered food, and the somoan who was hacking. The guard was not apart of the plan, and the chick who called him was just a coworker of the girl who was flirty.
I wouldve appreciated it more if you would've just reviewed/ explained the ending of the movie. You should've just left your personal comments out of it.

You got to watch it again you explaining key parts wrong don’t know if your doing it on purpose or not but your viewers deserve the true nature of the movie
At the end you clearly didn't realize that the driving scene didn't actually happen. It was a lie that Donnie told the cops just to get out of the situation. In fact, every flashback scene where Donnie was talking to Nick was a lie. He never auditioned for Merriman, he was in control the whole time. You also didn't notice that there were people in the Federal Reserve working for Donnie as well. That's why he was able to walk out the building without checking in, the guard was in on the robbery as well. The only reason the guard even mentioned Donnie not checking in was to convey this fact to the audience. Both parties had plausible deniability, as the guard could just say it was an honest mistake, he didn't see him, etc. and Donnie can claim that he was just doing his job as a delivery man. The ladies who ordered the Chinese food were also working for Donnie. That's why they "conveniently" ordered the same food as before. The movie doesn't show this, but one could reasonably assume that the restaurant that Donnie "works" for is in on the robbery as well, and they could even have him clocked in at the time. And Chinese food places usually don't have cameras either, so Donnie has the perfect alibi. Also, the cops would be too preoccupied with the aftermath of the shootout with Merriman and crew to investigate the Federal Reserve building and figure out how Donnie did it. By the time they did that, Donnie, the guard, the Chinese-food-eating ladies, and the guys inside the Federal Reserve were out the country. The only unrealistic thing is that Donnie and crew flee to England. They should've picked a country that doesn't extradite criminal suspects to the US. Maybe Donnie is good enough at creating a new fake identity to still get away with it, but it's iffy. Somewhere in South America would've made more sense to flee to after committing such a high profile crime. The one thing I can't defend, though, is the Nick sending his GF a text he meant to send the stripper. It was cheesy, hard to believe, and wasn't even necessary for the story. If they needed a reason for him getting divorced, why not just have one of his wife's friends from the dinner catch him cheating and tell her? That also would've made Nick's douchey behavior at the Divorce paper signing dinner seem more justified. He seemed like an abusive stalker at that dinner and it made it impossible for me to root for him.
Loved the movie. Could have been great if they had a better actor in O'sheas role. Next to butler and merrimens strong acting his stuck out like a sore thumb.
I’ve got questions, or maybe just complaints. 1) They figured out it was Merriman for no reason. Just lazy writing. Butler just mentions his name out of the blue from the beginning, and Boom, case solved! Oh please! 2) Merriman was a felon, and yet was observed by a cop shooting guns at a shooting range. Why not just arrest him and send him to prison where he can’t commit any bank robberies? No, let’s play cat and mouse until people start getting killed. 3) How did the count at the Fed come out right? And how do you get from a vault to a bathroom through a vent? There’s a garbage chute that leads from the vault that leads directly to a dumpster in the garage? Huh? 4) How did Butler know it was the Fed that was being heisted.? He had no reason to think that. 5) Why would be just sign the divorce papers? At least lawyer up and go to court if you love your daughters so much. 6) Where were the cops during the final shootout? Was there a mandatory city-wide donut break? 7) Why would Merriman just abandon the money and then shoot his way out? Your only hope for escape is to just run once you’ve been made. Taking on the cops is a no-win situation.
Bro I think you missed the point in a lot of scenes , like merrimans stripper girl slept with butlers character to get his cell # so merriman could call him from the bank ... also how in the hell would ice cube jr just get in through the vents !?! He couldnt just enter the vents to get in , he just used the vents to get to the bathroom and his carry out bag he left. It wasn't a perfect movie but I dont agree with your view that this movie was full of plot holes... just my opinion and thanks for the video.
The twist clearly went over his head. The lobby guard at the Fed, the black dudes in the money room, the women ordering Chinese food, all worked for Donnie and were in on the robbery. And Donnie never had that driving audition, he made the story up. WOOSH right over his head lol
If he was able to get into the bathroom from the vent then he also could have gotten into the count room from the vent making the trip inside the box pointless.

What you think of that random scene where 50 intimidates his daughters prom date? Felt so out of place, 50’s character was almost completely silent through the whole movie, now a sudden emphasis on his characters back story? Lol what you think?
The movie was good. I just ended it for the second time and I never do that. You should change the title to "I roast Den of thieves in five minutes" because you ain't explaining nothing but talking trash about the Butler and 50 Cent.
He told him prior that he wasnt going back to prison. He then pointed the empty gun to nick so nick could shoot him. Nick later checks and finds out it was empty...proving he was willing to die and not go back to prison
everything that Oshea was saying to the cops in Osheas words was made up to make it seem to the viewer that Oshea was nothing more than some random bum that was hired to drive and run errands, meanwhile you learn it was the other way around and it was Oshea that was running things that even Merrimen was clueless of.

I guess I'm getting old and I've seen more movies than I care to since Netflix was created. Im just tired of all of the cliches in movies today. For instance, when a person dies with their eye open someone always comes along and wave their hand over the dead peraon's face and the eyes are now magically closed, who keeps a bottle of booze in their desk at work (I've worked in a lot of places and I've never seen a bottle of alcohol in any office), people can't see under water without goggles, through out history there have been a miniscule number of crimes of larceny committed by very smart people with a diabolical plan because people who commit these types of crimes are pretty dumb, when someone gets shot in the hand their gun does flying away, however the amount of trauma the bullet creates pretty a mangled hand that is split apart in all kinds of ways. I'm writing this comment knowing that nobody is going to see it or comment on it or give a thumbs up, but whatever. Story of my life.
If that was supposed to be the "pull the rug from under the viewers feet" moment it was terrible in my opinion. In no way shape or form did they set up the ending to be that.
