Honestly, whether or not the Chinese girls were underage age is unimportant to me; they all performed fabulously in Beijing and deserve their gold medals. As for the age thing though, maybe someday they'll find prove of one of the gymnasts being underaged. The FIG didn't find out that Dong Fangxiao was 14 in the 2000 olympics until 2010 so they could still be investigating their ages. Nevertheless, great womens gymnastics in Beijing
Ragan Smith doesn’t look like she is 17 either... she actually looks like she is 11 or 12 even though she wears tons of makeup. However, no one questions her age. So many people are racist without them realizing it...
It’s not about “looks” in terms of the face but the body shape. Ragan Smith most definitely has the body shape of feminine maturation, Deng Lin Lin doesn’t here. Not only so, but the Chinese gymnasts who came after 2008 Olympics all just happened to have the body shape of 16+ years old, and the team also couldn’t perform nearly as well. This suggests that there was also motive for the underage scandal. Females’ skills at gymnastics and alike sports peak at around 13-15 of age. Which is why often junior events they compete better than senior. Btw I want to congratulate them for winning gold on BB today. Now take a look at the gold medalist Guan Chen Chen’s body shape and compare that to Deng Lin Lin’s. You’ll see a pretty enormous difference. Guan is 16.
She's not missing a tooth- if you look carefully you'll see that tooth is just not properly aligned with other teeth and is hidden behind other teeth. Her teeth looked the same in 2012 and she got braces after her retirement in 2013.
"Just that little wobble there" American commentators would have said "What a huge, bad mistake!" but if it had happend to an American gymnast they would have said what this commentator said...
And yet much of the scoring here was biased in favor of the Chinese. Cheng Fei won a bronze on beam- with an abismal routine that should have ranked her ahead of only those who fell. In the team finals several of their scores were substantially too high. So your comments don’t hold much cogency.

even though her age was under scrutiny, she was actually not one of the 3 gymnasts who had their ages listed differently in previous registries (the three were Jiang Yuyuang, Yang Yilin, and He Kexin)
so everytime china win something its because blah blah blah..no matter what it is they just don't deserve the gold medal..how about worrying about your own countries and let other countries be. I swear by putting others down is not going to make urself better, geez
Other countries don’t lie and bring athletes in that are underage and cheat other deserving athletes of their shot at standing on the podium. China- and Korea have done so and thus deserve the constant distrust.
China would not face the scrutiny it does- and continues to receive- had they not WILLINGLY cheated by falsifying ages of their athletes! You reap what you sow.

@rsageeth Her front pike was tucked. On the sheep jump, Deng's feet didn't seem to touch her head which is the requirement. They look like they do on the slow-mo but the normal angle is better.

I she was the second gymnast for China on BB, did Cheng Fei go first? then she must have seen her fall and must have had even more pressure on her to be good! And she was!^^ Although I prefer Li Shanshan on beam, who went last on BB for the team =)

@@sgeetha7350 their body shapes do look 16 even if their faces don’t. Deng’s body shape doesn’t look like it has reached maturation, that’s what’s important.
@@luceafarul579 Semenova? Asians don't typically have the shape Caucasians have at that age, so that isn't a comparable thing in determining their age.
@@sgeetha7350 nope. Take a look at Chinese athletes after 2008 Olympics. Literally NONE of them has the body shape like Deng Linlin here. For example take a look at the 2020 gold medalist Guan Chen Chen. She was 16. Take a look at her body shape and compare that to Deng Linlin’s, you’ll see a significant difference. Yes Asians are smaller and slimmer, but a mature woman’s body shape can still be seen.
Not only was unbalanced, but did not connect the two tumbling skills! WTF! That's a huge mistake, and yet! Come on! One need not be an expert in gymnastics to understand error as large as this, it lost the connection value! Hellooo! Duh! Total rip off! And, btw; i love this Chinese team, but let's be fair!
