Hi Muzza. Sorry to hear you & family are unwell with dengue fever. I am concerned you mentioned people recommending you take aspirin which per travel doctor is NOT recommended along with antiinflammatories such as ibuprofen, instead to take Panadol for pain & fever. Hope blood test go well. “Treatment Rest in bed to enable the body to fight the disease. Paracetamol is recommended to reduce body temperature and relieve pain. Aspirin must NOT be used with dengue, and avoid anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen. Drink extra fluids to prevent dehydration.”

More than 30 years living in Indonesia I always use Autan fresh spritz spray. The creams make you hot and uncomfortable. I always have Autan fresh spritz in my bag. It's around 15k per bottle.

G'day Muzza, I started showing signs of dengue fever 26th May whilst in Legian. I'd just spent 5 days on Nusa Lembongan before hand where I think I picked it up. Today is the first day I've been able to do anything. Somehow I managed to fly home on the 29th, and have been bed bound since. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I'll let ya know how I go

Take B 12 before coming , it helps a lot , hope you better soon . It’s crap getting it . Yes tonic water is great .

While watching you at the doctors I thought how good it would be if Aussies in Bali 2:49 could access the name and location(eg, Legian, Sanur etc) plus the phone # of places like the lab you attended. Police, Dentist, Chiro, Physio etc. If you did a video & labelled it say "essential bali contact info for Aussies" we could access it via your you tube channel if we need it. Got it there back in 2015. The effects didn’t hit me until I flew back to Jakarta and then spent a week in hospital there on IV. I was told that it’s much worse the second time around. Take care

Glad you are on a mend Muzza, had a suspicion of dengue myself, waiting for more detailed test results (they take 3 weeks) at the moment, but I don't think it was it. In any case caught something 3 days before my return flight to UK from Lombok (that was 2 weeks ago), wasn't fun anyway - fever and diarrhea over few days is no joke.

@murray I just came back from Bali to oz and had Dengue come on. Nasty stuff nocked me into hospital and out for a few weeks. Would be keen to hear what you think about the possibility of a second infection and living there. Almost scared of leaving the country now and interested to hear how the locals deal with it.

Absolutely. I used to drink heaps of tonic and never contracted dengue,, but of cause I wasn't Denpasar where I know it can get bad. I have seen some very sick people. Get well soon, BUT take it easy.

Sorry to hear you've been crook. I'm going to check to see what homeopathic remedies are available before we come over on the 18th as we only have one night at Kuta, then off yo Lombok.
