Thank you for your comment! The average temperature is defined as the difference between the hottest and coldest months, taking monthly mean temperatures in each case. It is given approximately by the difference between the average of the January maximum and minimum temperatures, and the corresponding average for July. As for winters, yes, especially at night, it can get up to 5Celsius. However, as you know, winters here are mild, during the day it is mostly sunny. On 29th of January this year temperatures reached 30C.

@@PlacesandBeaches Not to split hair, but the average is not defined as the difference between averages. I will leave looking up a definition of average to your ingenuity. My point was different. If I plan a trip to your beautiful city in January I cannot count on one in a lifetime weather event. I normally check average max as this is what one can reasonably expect. Where I come from 17C counts as chilly as I wouldn’t sport a t-shirt on such a day. Moreover, given very low minimum it probably means that evenings are quite cold and would be impossible to eat dinner outside. All of that has nothing to do with your walk, which I appreciate greatly as it gave me a “feel” for the city and motivation to visit it.

In my opinion Costa Blanca (from Denia to Altea) is on of the safest areas in Spain. Since 2014 have been north, south, west, east, 90% of coastal Spain, both, Mediterranean sea and Atlantic ocean and to me Denia to Altea is the safest region. I have always felt safe here. However, crimes are not an exception even here. As for bars, this is something common in Spain.
