Legend, Ms. Deneice Williams, is what I call vintage wine as she still can hit those higher notes with quality. She looks and sounds phenomenal. She has an incredible range. At her mature age, " Silly Of Me" sounds like her original rendition. She definitely is a maven vocalist that can out sing these youngsters.
OH YEA - I was there on this night, Sat. June 24, 2023 - five days ago -- She did a nice brief set. The setlist was Cause you Love me; Gonna Take a Miracle, Do What You Feel, Black Butterfly; FREE; Conscious (?), Let's Hear it for the Boys and the final tune was SILLY - the final song on this video; She also did HIS EYES ARE ON THE SPARROW - that was a bonus tune, we didn't expect, but it was certainly worthy of hearing ... On Comments on this video, i hear people complaining about the crowd-singers, but it actually contributed to the live experience when witnessing one of the Great Ones. Neecy didn't mind the helpful audience singers, and it also shows just how popular a song is from an artists' vantage or standpoint. The show was superb; not too long. Not too short. Just perfect. Nice older crowd, very appreciative of her talent and skills. June Deniece Williams aka "This is Neecy" aka the "Songbird" - she told intriguing insight about how she was discovered by the late, great Maurice White and other stories about being produced by the late, great George Duke. Based on the reaction and response of the very elderly crowd, it was obvious we enjoyed watching the 72-year-old Songbird still hitting the same keys as she did when she was a twentysomething youngsta, fresh from touring with Wunderlove and backing-up Stevie Wonder. She reflected on touring with the Rolling Stones, and being a naiive chick - weary of all the drug-use, etc. She said she PRAYED-UP the entire time she was on that Rolling Stones Tour. Songbird is still a sweet church COGIC girl from Gary, Indiana. She's proud of her COGIC roots - as were The Pointer Sisters and so many other famous singers in the RnB community. I believe Marvin Gaye was also a Church of God In Christ singer. So was Sylvester, i believe. TC
What’s great about this is that it’s captured via a cell phone. What sucks about this is that it’s captured via a cell phone. I love that we get to hear Denise Williams sing. I hate that. We have to hear the audience sing along.
Ms. Nicey still has the best voice! I can remember when I first heard her hit, with Free. My gosh, it was so many years ago. Since then I have been a huge fan of her entire catalog. My favorites, especially during this time are her spirituals. She is a true gift from The Lord above. Her voice grounds me and cleans my soul. May the good Lord continue to bless her as she shares her divine voice with us. Thank you for sharing. I’m Alex from LA 💙🙏
OMG She just captures my heart more than any singer I listen too. I first heard her at the San Diego sports center 1978 sing free, wow still one of the most dazzling performances to date. Love you Deniece Williams bless you
Of course she is. She's Deniece Williams. As a matter of fact, one of her co-background singers, when they backed Minnie Ripperton's "Loving You", said that Deniece Williams outsang Minnie Ripperton.😊
I think she worked on herself for a bit which I’m grateful. For a period of time her voice sounded like it was gone forever. But there are ways to essentially retrain which I wish more aging artists would do.

She is a class act. So feminine-makes me be glad to be a woman when I listen to her beautiful music. We need to cherish ladies like her and Dionne Warwick too!
