Absolutely wonderful. Denis I remember all those goals that you scored at Old Trafford and then to spoil it all we get that back heel goal after you had moved on and scored for Man City to send us down into the old second division. Great times and happy days.
Not really a view shared by the fanbase at the time, nor those that came after and were told endless tales about prior legends. 84’ baby here, with my first shirts having Robson on the back (with barely an idea outside him being my dad’s favourite player), and my first run of my own hero’s being sharpe, then Giggs, and of course Cantona (Yorkie too - closest player to really having the crown after Eric, until Rooney came along. Love you Yorkie - and many thanks for making Cole likeable 😂). But yeah, Law, best, Charlton, and, more from my grandad here than anyone else - Duncan Edwards - being the hero’s I grew up on. Never did I hear a bad word about Law, and certainly not that he ruined it with that backheel (which fair do’s did go down in legend as the kick that sent us down, but we would have been down regardless. I’m sure the mistake there came from that being the sealing moment, before results that came later making it a moot backheel [point] anyway
The DIFINITIVE bravest footballer with dollops of flair thrown in. A true LEGEND unlike the dozens of so called legends today. Responsible for some unforgettable moments in arguably the most colourful of football sides.
Mike Summerbee once said that 63,000 used to pack Old Trafford every home game and 60,000 went to see Denis Law. I can relate to that. For me, in my early teens, it was like watching a God run out onto the pitch at 2 minutes to 3.00. Loved them all, but he was the King.
THE ONE AND ONLY KING.MANY HAVE TRIED TO TAKE HIS CROWN BUT IT HASN'T HAPPENED AND NEVER WILL.DAVE ONE OF KING DENIS LOYAL SUBJECTS.LONG LIVE THE KING!
Quality : he had supreme confidence, in a gallus sort of way. Touch and vision on truly dreadful pitches. We don’t have many Scotland greats, but when do they become Legends at Old Trafford and Anfield with King Kenny. Billy Gilmour has the same attitude about him , time will tell
4:11 ridiculous and amazing at same time. Like Diaz in Captain Tsubasa NES game that kick with the heel was out off this planet!! hands down and mad respect to Denis Law.
Another great video. I have made some GIFS from this video & they'll be on twitter & Fb in a few hours. Even put on the famous backheel goal for Man city that relegated his beloved Man United. You see in his non celebration at 5:09 he just realises what he's done. Classic football moment.
My favourite goal was the one he scores that all but relegated Man Utd. A very enjoyable day. Denis Law was the best British forward in his day, yes better than Charlton or Best and even Greaves. Powerful shot in both feet could head, chip, bicycle kick and never shirked away from heavy tackles. Shame he played for Scotland and Manure.
Great players in the 70.s law best hunter doug great players as many more like to see today's players getting 1000 times the money and play on them fields and ball rock hard dont think so
