Taking out rows from the brush creates bigger lumps. I leave mine in bcse i love tighter curls.

Your roots were dried, and it wasn't soaking wet, more damp. Big difference for some. You have very low porosity ... beautiful hair though!

Removing rows creates a larger clump. More rows left in gives a tighter curl clump. It just depends what you are striving to achieve. ;) I have the Denman 3 and do not remove any rows. I have the SCRUNCHIT Large clump brush if I choose to go for that look. ;)

I'm actually a dude (Yes I have a silly profile picture) and I have pretty straight hair but with horrible cowlicks in the front of it, so I use the Denman brush to overpower them or at least distribute the styling product in my hair properly, then use the regular styling brush. I follow a lot of Pomade junkies on here and they like the Denman brushes too! I don't like having my hair greasy and oily (as I have a sensitive scalp and break out a lot with sweat).....I use water based products. I NEVER use oil based products!

take the brush off, flip it over, and just grab it and pull it off :)

How does the number of rows change the curl result?

@@loubnastar I think it’s clumps the curls into bigger ‘chunks’ so u have clumpier curls

For fatter softer-looking curls. If you want skinner & tighter coils, then use more rows.

@@yas_688 you remove rows of bristles depending on how thick your hair is so not to pull too much on wet hair when using the brush to define. The thicker your hair the more rows you take out…at least that’s what I do. Otherwise the denman will pull hair right out of your head.
