Dennis was still only 15 or so when he did this beautiful vocal for Gussie Clarke. Big Youth was just establishing himself when he did the deejay part, also for Gussie.
@yellyyow when i saw luciano pon the street , i&i said to him " thanks , for carrying on dennis brown works" every time i ever saw luciano touch the stage he sing a dennis brown tune.
Yes I man remember when only Tipper Tone alone sound play this Dennis Brown I man use go Princess St round a Big youth yard and lesson Clive a play the set
Very nice to hear the vocal and DJ pieces together. I'm not 100% sure who produced the Dennis Brown vocal. It appeared in JA on a pre-release 45 credited as 'Their Own Way' and stamped 'African Museum'. So it's likely that it was produced by Gregory Isaacs (and possibly Errol Dunkley as well, as they were originally partners in AM) and then given to Gussie Clarke, who produced the Big Youth cut. In any case, this version is definitely the original, the other Gussie produced versions are later.
