I was stationed in Hawaii and one of my best friends was a local guy, who invited me to family events and they made me feel at home while being so far from mine. One time while hanging out this song came on and his grandma was singing her heart out along with it. That song was forever stuck in my heart, and the memory never leaves. She passed away recently, and now when I hear this song, i think of the Hawaiian family that made me feel a part of theirs, and I'll never forget them...
@Fred Trump yeah, Nationalists are worldwide, yes.. they’re the true globalists.. the nationalists of every country. The right wing is a global movement with vassal entities in countries around the world.. The true globalists are a world’s various nationalists..
I Lowkey feel the same, but i'm from the caribbean. In some ways these hawaiian songs remind me of my beautiful childhood on the islands, especially at my grandmas house where all the cousins would meet. Surrounded by banana, mango, papaya and breadfruit trees , we had a blessed childhood. Times haves changed but some things remain the same, I hope to some day visit Hawaii along with other beatiful archipelagos of polynesia.
I grew up listening to this gifted man of splendid origin that could be sent by the gods themselves. He was a man destined to be reknowned by the aliis of his day and think he should be noted by all as a gift of love to those he spoke by his music and they only come by supernatural occurrances. God Bless Dennis Pavao immensely for his gift for all. I Miss You eternally Uncle
Love this song...my mom and dad passed away...both brought up in Kalapana. My mom loved to sing this song to my dad and played the ukulele. They both loved the Hui Ohana!
Gosh, this song bring back so much memory of my childhood, especially of my momma, who passed away a few years back......listening to this song make me think of her and how much I still miss her......love & miss you, momma
All their music is heart felt 💓 I would like to dedicate all their music to my beautiful mom all my aunts and all my uncles that made my life as beautiful as ever ❤️
Mahalo! My grandmother was one of the last full blooded Hawaiians. She spoke Hawaiian and told my mother a story of Kalapana. Kalapana was a man who traveled alone from Kauai to see the great goddess Pele. He tried daily to find her; he vowed not to cut his hair until he had seen her. One night, local kids snuck in and cut his hair. (burning the tips off) Pele then visited him and told him to remain in the region, teach the kids and the region would be named after him.
Our rock "n" roll band was playing at a party in Pahoa in the 1960's and Dennis Pavao along with Ledward and Nedward Kaapana were also playing rock "n" roll music before us. My dad told them that if they played Hawaiian music they would become popular among the locals...the rest is history. They did become famous years later. I will never forget that. That memory is stuck in my mind forever.
Wow, I’ve heard so many stories of unko Dennis but I didn’t know led was influenced to play Hawaiian music with Dennis. Very inspiring because I’m seeing ledward play this Wednesday

Love this mele. The beautiful voice of Dennis Pavao. My favorite Hawaiian singer and Hawaii's best falsetto singer. You live on through your music. You are truly missed. Mahalo Dennis for creating such beautiful music. RIL Much Aloha!
I usually listening to Dennis Pavao and Willie K while driving The Road to Hana. That is how I enjoy my paradise, Maui. Not doing Hana leaves one with an empty feeling.
