God spoke to me and restored my faith. He literally saved me and I wouldn’t still be here if it wasn’t for his grace and love for me. I was addicted to sex, meth, crack, cigaretts, and alcohol and he took it all away. I live by faith now and I’m satisfied in the grace of God because grace is all the soul needs.

"When you're done with the addiction, you need something to fill that hole". Very few people get sober, until they embrace that FACT! I tried to quit drinking 500 times, and failed every time! Why? Because I was totally focused on "not drinking", instead of facing the root problem...ME! The moment I began to focus on "filling the hole", was the moment I began to recover. I embraced a "design for living" that allowed me to be ok in the midst of chaos, and maybe more importantly, when I was alone with absolutely nothing going on. THAT is the essence of sobriety. No matter what, I don't have to self destruct! For me, that was and is the twelve steps, and I now have more than 29 years of a great life, as evidence that it works. Regardless of the path to recovery, unless a persistent effort is made, the odds are not good. My mantra is "Live in the problem, or live in the solution". It's as simple as that! God is good all the time God is good and he already knew you when you were in your mother‘s room. He already knew you he had you already figured out. You know what he had a plan for you. Dennis plan is what you’re doing now just continue doing what the Lord wants you to do And you know your faithful you are so wonderful. I’m so proud of you Dennis. It’s interesting to see a retrospective of a person’s life from a young man with a lot of options and promise, led astray by the illusions of those options, but coming back down to earth later in life, wiser for the experience. Thank you Mr. Quaid for sharing ! I to had my time with drugs, I was lucky enough to have a moment of clarity. I walked out of a rooming house and got on a bus to go into a thirty day program in Ft . Lauderdale. That was in 1997 , I haven't looked back since. Everyday is different, nothing stays the same. Some days are good and some days suck , but you just keep on keepin on. One thing is for sure, it's the simple things in life that really hit home for me. God bless Mr. Quaid take care.
