Dennis the Menace: a Conversation with Walter Matthau

In loving memory of Walter Matthau (October 1, 1920 - July 1, 2000).
“Hey, who do you have to know to get a drink around here?” I will always remember him for that line in the 1974 film Earthquake too.
Walter also had a penchant for telling tall tales. According to his son Charlie in the book Matthau: A Life, Walter found the joy of embellishment lifted a story (and the listener) to such enjoyable heights, that he couldn’t resist trying to pass off the most bogus of information, just to see who was gullible enough to believe it.

You Know One Thing That I’ll truly have to Admit is that Walter Matthau Was Absolutely Amazing And Also Incredibly Iconic Just in that one role alone of having played the Role Mr. Wilson in the 1993 Dennis The Menace Movie And That Nobody Else in the History Of Performances Of Dennis The Menace On Screen Did it better than he had done !!!! R.I.P. Walter Matthau The Greatest Mr. Wilson Ever !!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

What's funny is that I had the same sort of childhood as Dennis, playing outside, annoying the neighbors, running around in the woods messing with treehouses and whatnot. Kids now don't do that. Everything is about electronics and social media.

I wish he would've had a scene with Christopher Lloyd in Dennis the Menace, both terrific actors and I believe a scene between them would've been fun to see.

Did you know that my mom actually had met Hank Ketchum the man who had created Dennis The Menace Back Comic Strip Several Times in the 1980’s back when living In our HomeTown Of Monterey, Ca While when working in some Doctors Office And as a Child Growing Up my Dad’s Parents would always take me his local playground of Dennis The Menace Park In DownTown Monterey Where I’d had spent many years of childhood playing with Friends from Preschool on up to Elementary !!!!

Walter was a great actor and a great comedian. That is why in interviews like this you have to take what he says at times with a grain of salt.
@abigailwatson1619

@@MegaShiva1 I cannot agree more there. He sure had talent, and was very good with kids (whom he liked, saying that they were delightful and very good to act with). I also agree with his character George Wilson’s tips about kids. Kids are kids. One has to play by their rules, because if they can’t do that, they’re headed for trouble, and that sometimes you have to roll with the punches and expect the unexpected, too. :)
