Jay North, Gloria Henry and Jeannie Russell reunite in Los Angeles in 2011 for an interview with KTLA 5 News about their classic TV series, Dennis the Menace.
Jay was a very strong boy on the inside, to be abused and to see him smiling on every scene is amazing, Jay had a light switch inside him he could turn off his hate from his aunt and smile on the set. I never know this, and I love watching all his shows on RU-vid all over again with my granddaughters, I'm 74. Thanks, Jay for all the wonderful years of being a kid and I notice some of the toys you had I had them also maybe that's where I got the idea from you, Thanks again.
To Jay North, you are a part of american classic TV history and you will be forever loved by fans all over the world. Your show will be enjoyed for years to come. Glad to see that you are doing well and has grown from your experience. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
I love the show I'm African-American I get off of work at 6:00am in the morning I come home and watch Dennis the menace the show was hilarious,LOVE YOU JAY NORTH❤❤❤❤
I experienced abuse so understand, but did not know Jay went through this. Jay went to our school (Parent Elementary)....the girls who touched him did not wash our hands for days ! hehe....we were so silly. What a great show it was, and must of been a great experience for you. All of you look fab !!
I'm glad to see Mr north happy. he was treated like garbage because he was a child actor being used by his parents, directors and agent to make money from him and treated him awful. he disappeared so he could live a normal life and for awhile wanted nothing to do with the show (which I don't blame him) but I hope he found peace and knows we love him. I remember they use to play reruns of old shows like Lucy, Leave it to Beaver and Dennis The Menace. I was more of a fan of I love Lucy and Dennis. It was sad that the original actor who played Mr Wilson had passed around season 3, I believe. I wish they'd show reruns again. the way Jay played him was why I was a fan. He's too innocent to be mad at no matter how much trouble Dennis was 😊 I hope you found your peace Jay North. I really do because you deserve that. I still love you and the show but wish you didn't have to go through all that pain.
I am also glad that he is happy. His aunt was the one who mistreated him. His mother did not live out of his earnings. She continued to work and invested his childhood earnings as Dennis The Menuce.
I hated those miserable relatives of Poor Mr.North..that aunt and uncle were obnoxious people and they should have been throw off of The Columbia Backlot and into jail for what they did to that poor sweet kid.
Dennis the Menace was so funny I used to watch it when I was a child and still do from time to time I read all his stories about his life well I could have never imagined that's what happened to him if they had Knuckles still alive they need to serve Justice if they ain't alive God will take care of it on he day of judgement and Jay North you did a good job I'm playing that part I felt for you my heart goes out to you I hope you get this message
musclemanjoe1 I was born in 1972, both my parents worked so my grandparents used to babysit, I used to watch Dennis the Menace everyday back in the late 70's
Gloria is 96 and is still alive ❤ that one episode where Dennis broke his fish tank and he kept asking his mom for a pot or something to stop the water from leaking!
Didn't this man give an interview a few years later about how much he absolutely reviled the show and everyone in it? There was nothing but hate in his eyes for the whole experience.
I think that interview was way earlier. It looks like here, he’s finally come to some happiness in his life and is enjoying reconnecting with the cast (who he said even in that interview were great people).
Jay got along great with his co stars and talked highly of them,it was his aunt and uncle who were the tyrants, they were in charge of Jay on the set and were abusive towards him.
I just saw it and couldn’t watch the entire video. It was so rude. He hated on his abusive aunt and uncle. OK - but be thankful for the memories and how much we all enjoyed the show. What a change in attitude.
Wish they could have done a reunion show in the 70s or early 80s where Dennis and Margaret get married with Tommy as the best man and of course appearances from his mom, dad, the second Mr Wilson…Gale Gordon plus the first Mrs Wilson plus Miss Cafcart and possibly a special guest appearance from Stuart…Ron Howard.
Jay and Jeannie< The American public will always love you for generations to come. you were a button and Margaret was the cutest little actress I ever knew, Love you both,
Wow, this video clip is cool. It's always interesting to see how everybody has changed over the years. Now I don't feel so bad, when I look in the mirror. LOL. Thanks for the upload!
I just feel so bad! Because these were great loving people that Jay worked with!! Just wish that his aunt and uncle, particularly his aunt didn't ruin everything for him! I am so MAD about this Jay!! So glad that you found love and peace now! ( in Florida )
Gale Gordon was not as good as Joe Kearns was for playing the role of Mr. Wilson. I always liked it when Joe would say Great Scott, and he had me saying it quite a bit. I still use the expression quite a bit
I started watching this show during the pandemic. My mornings are not complete without Dennis the Menace now. This is one of the cutest and endearing shows I've ever seen! ❤️
I think they should remake the show with Jay as Denis Mitchell but in the Mr. Wilson role. He'd be married to Margret, neither of them would be happy. And he would be tormented by the little neighbor boy. Maybe call it Denis the Menaced!
I know most reunion shows suck, but, given the right script there are so many missed opportunities by hollywood and its actors. A reprieve of Dennis with Jay North as an old man would be cool. As a kid I looked and acted like Dennis, or at least related to him, and now I relate to good old Mr. Wilson. It would be cool to see Dennis the menace have to deal with a grandchild come stay with him. I'm an unsuccsful screenwriter so what do I know though.
In one interview he hated the show...unless the producers of the talk show told him to be dark about his time doing Dennis The Menace...and in this interview the producers are telling him to be a happy go get her attitude
If I had been there on the set, I would have beat the crap out of Jay's aunt and uncle. Left them barely alive. Those scumbags really ruined little Jay's life.
It seems that Jay North is a different person the way he was years ago. He does not seem to have the anger that he had before, aparently the therapy helped him
Jay was a better child actor than Jerry Mathers from Leave it to Beaver. You can constantly catch the Beaver whispering other people's lines in the show. What was up with the squinting and his mouth open all the time?
Devorah Epstein because he was scared to death of his aunt as she tended to mistreat him if she thought he did a scene wrong. Too bad it took so long for him to be able to open up about it. If he had not been coaxed into getting help after Rusty Hamer’s suicide, we might be mourning him as well.
EVEN TODAY ' THE TELEVISION AND MOVIE INDUSTRY SOME OF THE PRODUCER'S ARE VERY CRUEL TO THE ACTORS. Remember when the people who produced FRIENDS WERE MAKING QUADRUPLE MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OFF THAT SHOW: THE FRIENDS CAST HAD TO BRING THEUR ATTORNEYS INTO THE SITUATION BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT TO PAY THE CAST ALL THE MONEY THAT WAS DUE TO THEM,,,
It was a funny show but I'm sorry about mr. North pain but it's time to let it go. But the show was funny .forgive those other PEOPLE and God will see you thru .
